While Jeremy Gilley was in
Manhattan filming the
documentary, Peace One
Day, the first of two planes
exploded when it collided
with the World Trade
Center. September 11, 2001
was supposed to be a day of
celebration for the Peace
movement. Mr. Gilley had
traveled around the world
meeting with leaders seeking
an agreement for a global
ceasefire for one day a year:
September 21. Fifty-five
m i n u t e s i n t o t h e
documentary, we have
followed this former actor
on his quest for Peace One
Day. Finally, the crowds
and the press have gathered
in front of the United
Nations for Kofi Annan to
ring the Peace Bell and
announce the agreement.
With the cameras rolling,
the chaos begins.
These past months we have
been watching the chaos
c o n t i n u e i n o u r
communities, in our country
and in our world. We have
become more divided than
ever. Our enemy is no
longer Osama bin Ladin,
Saddam Hussein, or even
ISIS. Our enemy is our
neighbor. Our enemy is the
one with the sign in the yard
promot ing the o t he r
politician. Or, it’s the one
who is against Black Lives
Matter (or for ) or
supporting wearing masks in
the midst of the pandemic
(or against). How do we
find peace in the midst of
such chaos? Is peace for
even one day possible?
Explore these questions by
registering for the series,
“Seeking Peace.” You will
receive a link to view the
documentary, Peace One Day.
You will receive an
invitation to pray with us
online for peace (on 9/21
beginning at 11:45 a.m.).
Then, on 9/22, we will
explore together the “Big
Question” for September:
How Do We Find Peace?
Finally, “People of Peace”
is a 5-week class beginning
in September where we will
meet six peacemakers. In
a d d i t i on , th e c l a s s ,
“Christianity and World
Religions,” seeks to inform
in order to build bridges
with our neighbors.
Join us as we pray for and
seek Peace One Day.

Adam Hamilton, explores four major world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism—and compares the beliefs of each with those of Christianity. As Christians, we must build bridges with others so that we might grow in our faith and seek peace in our world.
Lea Burt is semi- retired from the air conditioning business where he was a design engineer for 40 years. Now he enjoys traveling with his wife, Robin. When not working on their horse farm, Lea enjoys fly fishing, golf, and road biking. Lea was raised in a Methodist family and has been active in the church ever since.
After reading and discussing the book, White Fragility by Robin
DiAngelo, we wanted to continue the conversation. Join us whether or
not you were part of our previous book discussion. You will receive a
link to view a movie, conversation, or documentary online, in advance.
Our discussion will be facilitated by Rev. Linda Zastovnik and Rev.
John Ryan. John has a MA from the Presbyterian School of Christian
Education in Richmond, VA. He received his D.Ed.Min. from the

Moore. Is there a question you have for God? Is there a
decision or a concern where you are seeking direction?

Book Study: A Year of Biblical Womanhood
Rachel Held Evans died unexpectedly last year at the age of 37. Strong-willed and independent, she embarked on a radical life experiment--a year of biblical womanhood. Intrigued, she vowed to take all of the Bible's instructions for women as literally as possible for a year. Pursuing a different virtue each month, we will delve into the scriptures alongside her book. With just the right mixture of humor and insight, compassion and incredulity, A Year of Biblical Womanhood is an exercise in scriptural exploration and spiritual contemplation. Join us in the lessons of her life.
Third Tuesdays Oct. 2020—Sept. 2021
Kick off on 10/6 7:05—8:05 p.m.

People of Peace
Do you know that International Peace Day is September 21? If
not, it’s because you have never heard the story behind it. Once
you do, you will never forget it. Join us in the conversation: How
Do We Find Peace? You will be sent the link to view the
documentary online.
Join us online as we pray for peace on Peace Day. We will
join the “Global Peace Wave” with a Minute of Silence at noon.
Meet 6 people who have made a difference by choosing peace: Jesus
Christ, Mother Teresa, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Mahatma Gandhi,
Elisabeth Elliot & Rachel Saint. You will receive a handout each week
prior to the class.
Peace within us can be impeded by clutter around us. Learn new habits to help clear out your clutter, simplify your space, and take back your life. Do you spend valuable time moving your piles around the house, but you can never find that piece of paper when you need it? As you try out the many easy, doable solutions within the book, you'll begin to understand why you hold on to the things you do, eliminate what's crowding out real life, and make room for the life of true abundance God wants for you.

There have been quite a few jokes about 2020 being a year that
everything has gone wrong: a global pandemic, fires, hurricanes, and
riots. What does the Bible say about such things? Where is God in
the midst of it all? What is the truth about the “End Times?”

for Care Online
Life is difficult. We’d love to help. Meeting in person would be perfect, but it’s not always possible. Care Online enables you to show up and meet with a group who cares. All care groups are facilitated by Pastor Linda but you are the center of attention (if you want to be). All groups are Christ centered, but persons of all faiths—or none at all—are welcome.

Founded by Rev. Linda Zastovnik, Wakening
Ministry LLC exists to make disciples for Jesus
Christ through trusting relationships and relevant
studies, both in person and online. Created in
response to the unique challenges of COVID-19,
Pastor Linda has taken this time as an opportunity
to connect with Christians and curious minds who
are hungry for qualified and engaging studies. She
has created online classes that have inspired the
vision for this ministry, to reach out to people and
make virtual human connections. These virtual
connections with faith will enhance our spiritual
experience, even when all people can return to their
in-person congregations without risk.
