Stability

Development: To ensure a safe operation, an optional decision support tool (cLMS) for the

Structural members and all blocks, falls, padeyes, links,

fastenings and all other fittings used in connection with

launching equipment shall be designed with a factor of

safety on the basis of the maximum working load

assigned and the ultimate strengths of the materials used

for construction.

A minimum factor of safety of 4.5 shall be applied to all

structural members, and a minimum factor of safety of 6

shall be applied to falls, suspension chains, links and

blocks.

In the circumstances that occur on board ship, where personnel move from one place to another and the length

of time spent in each place may vary, they may be exposed to different levels of noise throughout the day. The

following figures give a guide to the acceptable maximum daily noise doses for unprotected ears, based on dB(A)

sound energy received.

Noise on current traditional workboats varies from 90 to 110dB(A).

SWB developed and applied a wide range of equipment's and materials to reduce noise on board. Predicted

noise on board is less than 82dB(A).

Exposure limit values for Vibrations according to European DIRECTIVE 2002/44/EC OF THE EUROPEAN

PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 25 June 2002 on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding

the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (vibration) (sixteenth individual Directive within

the meaning of Article 16(1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) gives the limit values.

Article 3:

Exposure limit values and action values

1. For hand-arm vibration:

(a) the daily exposure limit value standardised to an eight-hour

reference period shall be 5 m/s2;

Vibration on current traditional workboats achieves 6 m/s2. This is another item which SWB engineering team and

partners mitigated.
