As Jess looks out the window in his room, he sees horses pulling fancy carriages down the dusty dirt road called Main Street. This visit will be a real adventure for a boy from the prairie!

squinted into the bright morning sky . Finally, he saw the spinning circle appear, as tiny as a golf ball. He held his breath as it got closer and closer. Mike leaped and stretched out his glove.

Suddenly, he felt the sting of a catch. Grinning, he ran to join his teammates.

Kevin and Brad huddled in the small tent. It was dark and windy and strange sounds seemed to be coming from everywhere.

Crickets chirped in the grass. A loud owl hooted in the trees above. A lonely coyote howled in the distance. Suddenly, the boys heard something go crashing loudly through the trees near the tent. Kevin and Brad jumped up, scrambled out of the tent, and ran for home.
