Self-evaluation What skills have your acquired during the production?During the production of our film, I have learnt many skills firstly and most importantly I’ve learnt how to make a motion picture as part of a group. This will be very useful if I take up a career in the media industry; more specifically TV production and editing, as this is the type of techniques needed in television such as projects schedule and call sheets. This type of work would also help with two different skills, first team working skills such as planning and brainstorming ideas as well as putting the ideas into motion; the second one being Leadership ships ranging from telling people where too stand for a shot to getting someone to read dialogue from a script. Some others skills I have learnt is how to use the basics of film making and advancing on them to make them fantastic. For example the 700d camera is a video camera that is very simple to use was advanced upon to make very smooth and good-looking shots.

Another skills that I have learned is showing off or presenting our project to a company in order to get investments or selling our ideas, this skills useful not just in media but in any other business negotiation meetings, thus making this a multiple use skill.

What challenges did you face when constructing your product and how did you overcome these?

During the making of the movie we had a few complainants two of the biggest being first of all one of our group left during half way through our production, the second one being that we changed our idea with just over a month to spare.so other problems we had included the right day to shoot scenes because people had a plans; booking the equipment to use for scenes, the weather not being in our flavour when we need it etc. when we need to rain for a moving scene it was sunny and vice verse. Another problem we had was when we thought we had finished shooting when placed into final cut so scenes looked visually unimpressive, or the scene is shaking or both this caused re-shooting, prolonging the amount of time we need to film and taking up more of our time and it was very annoying however like all our other problems we raised to the challenge and overcame them.

Finally, what have you learned about the production of media texts and what would you do differently next time?What I’ve learnt about making a production for a media product is that it isn’t a walk in the park. It takes a long time to make a media production. In fact this is just one production and it took forever to make which gives me even more respect for TV production and movie production that have a time schedule and have many more things to do like writing scripts for a whole 140 minute movie or writing a script every week for something like a TV show, Location Lecce’s (being able to film in a location for a multiple length of time that being either a full three weeks or a full three hours). If I where to partake in another one of these types of production I would do numerous thing differently for example I would make sure that the team I would be working with would have a idea finalized so that half way though the deadline we have to change idea, another thing I would do differently would be to make sure dates would be suitable for all parties involved with the production this would included actors, tech guys, makeup artists, catering etc. many times during our performances some of us had plans, work or other events that would prevent us from filming, once again delaying our completing of the project. Therefore if I would do things differently next time I did a project like this I would setup a planner for filming date that would be suitable for all parties.
