DESCRIPTION

This is a lesson I developed to help my four-year-old know a little more about herself.

Self-Perceptions

Read:

A book in which someone describes himself. I looked through our library of books and found a

Richard Scarry book titled “This is Me.”

Art:

Have your child fill in the head above. Depending on his or her age, you may need to draw eyes

and lips as I did. Let her know she is making a picture of herself and let her fill it in as she likes.

Ask her to draw herself the way she sees herself. Talk about her color of eyes and size of ears.

Maybe ask how she feels about her features. Please describe who you believe she is and define

her features.

About Me Book (Project)

Ask your child the questions below. Illustrate the answers or print coloring book pages

illustrating the answers and allow the child to color. This part of the assignment can be saved for

another day if you feel you need more time. I cut down the first picture my child drew of herself

and used it as the first page.

Here are some possible questions you can ask your child:

What is your favorite sport/activity?

What do you believe you are good at doing?

What is your favorite food?

Page 3: Self preferences unit

What is your favorite book?

What is your favorite movie?

What is your favorite color?

What are some things you really, really don’t like?

Describe to me the best day ever.
