Harmony in daily living

Introduction to The Gnani

One June evening, in 1958 at around six o’clock, AmbalalMuljibhai Patel, a family man, and a contractor by profession, was sitting on a bench on the busy platform number three atSurat’s train station. Surat is a city in south Gujarat, a westernstate in India. What happened within the next forty-eight minuteswas phenomenal. Spontaneous Self-Realization occurred withinAmbalal M. Patel. During this event, his ego completely meltedand from that moment onwards, he became completely detachedfrom all of Ambalal’s thoughts, speech, and actions. He becamethe Lord’s living instrument for the salvation of humankind, throughthe path of knowledge. He called this Lord, ‘Dada Bhagwan.’ Toeveryone he met, he would say, “This Lord, Dada Bhagwan isfully manifested within me. He also resides within all living be-ings. The difference is that within me He is completely expressedand in you, he has yet to manifest.”

Who are we? What is God? Who runs this world? Whatis karma? What is liberation? Etc. All the world’s spiritual ques-tions were answered during this event. Thus, nature offeredabsolute vision to the world through the medium of Shree AmbalalMuljibhai Patel.

Ambalal was born in Tarasali, a suburb of Baroda and waslater raised in Bhadran, Gujarat. His wife’s name was Hiraba.Although he was a contractor by profession, his life at home andhis interactions with everyone around him were exemplary, evenprior to his Self-Realization. After becoming Self-Realized andattaining the state of a Gnani, (The Awakened One, Jnani inHindi), his body became a ‘public charitable trust.’

Throughout his entire life, he lived by the principle thatthere should not be any commerce in religion, and in all com-merce, there must be religion. He also never took money fromanyone for his own use. He used the profits from his business totake his devotees for pilgrimages to various parts of India.

His words became the foundation for the new, direct, andstep-less path to Self-Realization called Akram Vignan. Throughhis divine original scientific experiment (The Gnan Vidhi), heimparted this knowledge to others within two hours. Thousandshave received his grace through this process and thousands con-tinue to do so even now. ‘Akram’ means without steps; an eleva-tor path or a shortcut, whereas ‘Kram’ means an orderly, step-by-step spiritual path. Akram is now recognized as a direct short-cut to the bliss of the Self.

Who is Dada Bhagwan?

When he explained to others who ‘Dada Bhagwan’ is, hewould say :

“What you see here is not ‘Dada Bhagwan’. What you seeis ‘A. M. Patel.’ I am a Gnani Purush and ‘He’ that is manifestedwithin me, is ‘Dada Bhagwan’. He is the Lord within. He is withinyou and everyone else. He has not yet manifested within you, whereas within me he is fully manifested. I myself am not aBhagwan. I too bow down to Dada Bhagwan within me.”

“I am personally going to impart siddhis (special spiritualpowers) to a few people. After I leave, will there not be a needfor them? People of future generations will need this path, willthey not?” ~ Dadashri

Param Pujya Dadashri used to go from town to town, andcountry to country, to give satsang and impart the knowledge ofthe Self as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactionto all who came to see him. During his final days, in the fall of1987, he gave his blessing to Dr. Niruben Amin and bestowed hisspecial siddhis upon her, to continue his work. “You will have tobecome a mother to this whole world, Niruben” He told her ashe blessed her. There was no doubt in Dadashri’s mind thatNiruben was destined to be just that. She had served him withutmost devotion day and night for over twenty years. Dadashri

in turn had molded her and prepared her to take on this monu-mental task.

From the time of Pujya Dadashri’s mortal departure onJanuary 2 1988 to her own mortal departure on March 19th 2006,Pujya Niruma as she lovingly came to be called by thousandsremained true to her promise to Dadashri to carry on his missionof the world’s salvation. She became Dadashri’s representativeof Akram Vignan and became instrumental in spreading the knowl-edge of Akram Vignan throughout the world. She also became anexemplary of pure and unconditional love. Thousands of peoplefrom all walks of life and from all over the world have attainedSelf-Realization through her and are established in the experienceof the pure Soul, while carrying out their worldly duties andobligations. They experience freedom here and now, while livingtheir daily life.

The link of Akram Gnanis now continues with the currentspiritual master Pujya Deepakbhai Desai whom Pujya Dadashrihad also graced with special siddhis to continue to teach theworld about Atma Gnan and Akram Vignan. He was furthermolded and trained by Pujya Niruma who blessed him to conductGnan Vidhi in 2003. Dadashri had said that Deepakbhai willbecome the decorum that will add splendor to the Lord’s reign.Pujya Deepakbhai, in keeping with Dada’s and Niruma’s traditiontravels extensively within India and abroad, giving satsangs andimparting the knowledge of the Self to all who come seeking.

Powerful words in scriptures help the seeker in increasinghis desire for liberation. The knowledge of the Self is the finalgoal of all one’s seeking. Without the knowledge of the Self thereis no liberation. This knowledge of the Self (Atma Gnan) doesnot exist in books. It exists in the heart of a Gnani. Hence, theknowledge of the Self can only be acquired by meeting a Gnani.Through the scientific approach of Akram Vignan, even todayone can attain Atma Gnan, but it can only occur by meeting aliving Atma Gnani and receiving the Atma Gnan. Only a lit candlecan light another candle.

Who Am I ?

The Precise Method for Liberation

Dadashri: What is your name?

Questioner: My name is ‘Chandulal’.

Dadashri: Are you really ‘Chandulal’?

Questioner: Yes.

Dadashri: ‘Chandulal’ is your name. Is ‘Chandulal’ notyour name? Are you ‘Chandulal’ or is your name ‘Chandulal’?

Questioner: It is my name.

Dadashri: Then who are you? If ‘Chandulal’ is your namethen who are you? Are you and your name not separate? If youare separate from your name, then who are you? Do you under-stand what I am trying to say? If you say, ‘These are my eye-glasses’, then you and the glasses are separate, right? Similarly,do you not feel that you are separate from your name?

In the same token there is nothing wrong with naming ashop ‘General Traders’. But if we were to call out to the shopowner, ‘Hey! General Traders ...come here!’ he would reply,‘My name is Jayantilal. General Traders is the name of my shop.’

The owner, the shop and the merchandise inside the shop are allseparate entities. What do you think?

Questioner: That makes sense.

Dadashri: People insist, ‘No, ‘I am Chandulal’. Thatmeans, ‘I am the owner of the shop and I am also the sign onthe shop.’ ‘Chandulal’ is just a name given for identification.

You Are Not in the State of the Soul

It is not that you are not ‘Chandulal’ at all. You are‘Chandulal’ but you are ‘Chandulal’ by the relative viewpoint.

Questioner: I am the Atma (the Self) but the name is‘Chandulal’.

Dadashri: Yes, but if someone were to insult ‘Chandulal’right now, will it have an effect on you?

Questioner: Yes, it will affect me.

Dadashri: Then you are ‘Chandulal’ and not the Soul (theSelf). If you are the Soul then it wouldn’t have any effect on you,and if it affects you, then you are ‘Chandulal’.

If someone speaks ill of ‘Chandulal’, you take it personally. If someone is saying negative things about ‘Chandulal’, you evenput your ear to the wall and listen. If we ask, ‘Dear fellow, whatis the wall saying to you?’ You will reply, ‘No, it is not the wall. They are talking about me inside; that is what I am listening to.’Now, who are they talking about? One will say, ‘About Chandulal.’Hey! But You are not ‘Chandulal’. If You are the Soul (the Self),then You accept what is said about Chandulal (the non-Self).

Questioner: In reality, I am just a Soul, right?

Dadashri: You have not become the Soul yet, have you?You are still ‘Chandulal’, are you not?! ‘I am Chandulal’ is a

false attribution of the belief ‘I am Chandulal’ (aropit bhaav). The belief of ‘I am Chandulal’ has set in, in you. That is a wrongbelief.

So Many Wrong Beliefs

The belief that ‘I am Chandulal’ does not go away, evenin your sleep. And when you get married people tell you that youare this woman’s husband. So, you accept the role of a husband, and act like one. After that, through repetition, you keep reinforc-ing the belief of being a husband. Is anyone a husband forever? If you get a divorce, will you still be her husband? All thesewrong beliefs have become deeply ingrained within you.

The first wrong belief is that ‘I am Chandulal’. ‘I am thiswoman’s husband’, is the second wrong belief. ‘I am a Hindu’,is the third wrong belief. ‘I am a lawyer’, is the fourth wrongbelief. ‘I am this boy’s father’, is the fifth wrong belief. ‘I am anuncle’, is the sixth wrong belief. ‘I am fair-skinned’, is the sev-enth wrong belief. ‘I am forty-five years old’, is the eighth wrongbelief. ‘I am a businessman’, is also a wrong belief. If you saythat, ‘I am a taxpayer’, then that is yet another wrong belief. How many such wrong beliefs do you have?

‘I’ in the Wrong Location

This belief ‘I am Chandulal’ is ahamkar (ego). To impose‘I’ where ‘I’ does not belong is ahamkar (ego).

There is no harm in saying, ‘I am Chandulal’, but the beliefthat ‘I am Chandulal’ should not be ingrained within you.

If the ‘I’ is in its real ‘I’ (the Self), it is not ego. If youbelieve that ‘I am Chandulal’, then the superimposition of the ‘I’on ‘Chandulal’ is ego. When you identify ‘I’ with your real Self(its proper place), then it is not ego. If the ‘I’ moves out of itsincorrectly positioned place (‘Chandulal’), and assumes its real

place (the Soul), then the ego is gone. Therefore, you do not haveto get rid of the ‘I’, but you just need to put the ‘I’ in its correctlocation.

Only the Gnani Shows You the Real ‘I’

Here it is possible to know ‘Who am I’. Indeed there isGod and, moreover, that God is within you. Why are you search-ing for Him outside? When someone opens the door for you, youcan get His darshan (‘see’ Him). The door has been shut sotightly, that it is impossible to open it on your own. Only a personwho is Self-realized (a Gnani Purush) can show you the path andopen this door for you.

Your Own Mistakes Become Your Boss

The Absolute ‘I’ within you is God. Beyond this there is noother God or superior above you. There is no almighty power torule over you. You are completely independent. There is no onethat can hurt or hinder you. The only things that can hurt orhinder you are your own mistakes.

Not only do you not have a boss, but also no one canbother or interfere with you. There are innumerable life forms, but none of them ever interfere with you. Those that do will doso because of your own mistakes. You yourself had previouslycaused interferences and therefore you are now facing the con-sequences of your past actions. I see this in my Gnan vision. Iam telling you this as I see it.

In the following statements I guarantee a man his libera-tion: ‘You do not have a boss in this world. Your boss is yourblunders and your mistakes. In the absence of these two, you arethe Supreme Lord!’

And…

‘No one can ever interfere with you. This world is such

that no one living being is in a position where it can ever interferewith another.’

These two paragraphs will resolve all your conflicts andbring peace and harmony to you.

God’s Correct Address

Some scientists asked me if all this meant that God doesnot exist. I told them that if God did not exist, then there wouldbe no experience of pleasure or pain for anyone in this world. SoGod definitely exists. They asked me where God lives. I askedthem where they thought He lived. They pointed towards the sky.I told them there is absolutely no one up there. I myself had beenthere and checked, since everyone says that God lives up there.I have looked for God there, but there is nobody up there; onlythe vast open sky! Nobody lives up there! When they asked mefor God’s correct address, I told them to write this down: ‘Godis in every creature, whether visible or invisible. Not in man madecreation! (Table, radio, etc.’)

Principle of Convenience

Everything that happens is result of scientific circumstan-tial evidence. Only when numerous circumstances come togethercan an event take place. But you claim with egoism, ‘I did it’.You take credit for the things that turn out well and blame others,or bad luck, when things do not turn out as you planned. Somepeople blame it on negative circumstances, don’t they?

A person is proud of himself when he earns money, butwhen he incurs a loss or a failure, he gives excuses or says, ‘Godis upset with me.’

But one should not accuse God of anything. It is okay ifwe accuse a lawyer or someone else. How can we accuse God?Such accusations cause terrible bondage in the next life. Cananyone accuse God?

Sometimes people will give a variety of other excuses, always avoiding accountability and acceptance of their own faultsand mistakes. One will never accept one’s own faults.

Doership Binds Karma

Questioner: How can we escape from the bondage ofkarma?

Dadashri: Karmas exist because the belief of doershipexists. The existence of these karmas is directly dependent upondoership. There is no karma if there is no doership. There is nodoership in the ‘I’ state and so there is no karma. Karma canonly be created if there is doership. As ‘Chandulal’, when yousay and believe, ‘I did this’, or, ‘I did that…’, you become thedoer. This belief then becomes a support for karma. When onestops being the doer, the karmas have no basis and no support,so they fall away. Therefore karmas exist as long as there isdoership.

Right now you believe, ‘I am Chandulal’ (‘I’ and ‘my’ asone). That is why the Self and the non-Self have become one.In fact both these entities are separate. You are separate and‘Chandulal’ is separate. But until you become aware of this dif-ference, what can you do? A Gnani Purush can make this sepa-ration for you through the Science of separation. After this, thereal You (‘I’) does nothing. It is ‘Chandulal’ that continues to doeverything.

Scientific Separation of the Self and the Non-Self

For example, this gold ring contains a mixture of copperand gold. Who do you think will be able to separate the gold fromthe copper?

Questioner: Only a goldsmith.

Dadashri: Yes, a goldsmith can separate the gold and the

that no one living being is in a position where it can ever interferewith another.’

5 6

copper, because he knows the qualities and properties of both ofthese elements. Similarly, a Gnani Purush knows the qualities andproperties of the Self and the non-Self and so he can separatethe two.

What Is a Gnan Vidhi?

Gnan Vidhi is the Gnani’s special process of separation ofthe Self and the non-Self.

Questioner: What is a Gnan Vidhi?

Dadashri: The Gnan Vidhi is the process that separatesthe Soul (the Self) from the body (the non-Self). It is the sepa-ration of the animate (chetan) from the inanimate (jada).

Questioner: This principle is correct, but what is theprocedure?

Dadashri: There is nothing here to be given. One simplyhas to sit and repeat what I say, exactly as it is being spoken.(The awareness of ‘Who am I?’ is attained after a two-hourprocess, of which 48 minutes consist of speaking out sentencesof bhed vignan (Science of separation), which separate theSelf and the non-Self. After that, there is a period of an hourwhere you will be explained the five Agnas (instructions) withexamples to illustrate and clarify them. You will be shown howto conduct your life so that you do not charge new karma. Youwill then know how you can dissipate your past karma smoothly. The awareness that you are pure Soul will remain constantly.)

The Only Goal Worth Having

Questioner: What goal must a human being have?

Dadashri: Liberation should be the only goal. You dowant liberation, don’t you? For how much longer do you want

to keep on wandering aimlessly? You have done only this forinfinite lives. You have not left any place to wander. You havewandered aimlessly between different gatis: janwar gati (ani-mal kingdom), manushya gati (human form) and devagati(celestial form). Why did you have to suffer such endlesswanderings? This is because you have not known your trueidentity; you have not known the answer to ‘Who am I?’ Shouldyou not know your real Self?

No Effort Required for Self-realization

Moksha (final liberation from cycle of birth and death)means to come to your real nature (the Self). The worldly lifemeans to go away from your Self. Which one of the two iseasier? To come to your real Self is not difficult, but the worldlylife, to go away from your Self, is always difficult. Moksha iseasier than preparing khichdee (a Gujarati dish made of riceand lentils). But you do need to find a Gnani Purush, who canbestow moksha upon you. Otherwise you can never attainmoksha, even after going through endless reincarnations.

The first stage of moksha is where you experience ab-sence of worldly miseries; one remains unaffected by worldlyunhappiness. In the midst of upadhi (suffering imposed uponyou by others or external factors) you experience samadhi (tobe free from suffering and to experience the state of one’s ownbliss). That is the first stage of moksha. The second stage ofmoksha (ultimate liberation) is attained when one is free fromendless cycle of birth and death after all karmas are settled. The first stage of moksha should be attained here and now. Iexperience this first stage of moksha all the time. Mokshashould be such that, even while one lives amongst the worldlythings, one remains unaffected by them. The Extraordinary Powers of Akram Gnan

It is possible to attain Atmagnan (knowledge of the Self;Self-realization), even while living with your wife and children. You can attain Atmagnan while living the worldly life and ful-filling your parental and other duties. I myself, who is also livingin this worldly life, can make this happen for you. What otherguarantees do you need?

This is an exceptional path. It does not require any efforton your part. I will give you your Atma in your hands; so all thatremains is for you to enjoy the bliss of the experience. You willnot bind any new karma. First comes the freedom from igno-rance and then comes the final moksha, after a couple oflifetimes.

Along with the destruction of lighter karmas during theGnan Vidhi, many of the avarans (layers of ignorance overthe Soul) are broken down. At that time, through divine grace, one becomes aware of the Self. Once awakened, the aware-ness never leaves. The pratiti (the conviction that ‘I am thepure Self’) will always be there along with the awareness. Theexperience of the Self is the destruction of the experience that‘I am the body’. When the experience of ‘I am this body’ goes, new karmas cease to bind you.

The Line of Demarcation Between the Self and theNon-Self

It is because of Akram Vignan (the step-less path toSelf-realization as opposed to the traditional Kramic path) thatyou are able to achieve this samkit state (realization of theSelf) in such a short time. Akram Vignan is the Science, whichdraws an exact line of demarcation between that which is Youand that which is not You; the real (the Self) and the relative(the non-Self). It clearly defines their properties and character-

istics. As an effect of this exact demarcation, the result isimmediate and experiential.

How Should One Do Pratikraman?

If you have said and done anything that has hurt others,it is an act of aggression. It is atikraman and thereforepratikraman should be done. Pratikraman means internallyapologizing and asking for forgiveness from the other person: ‘Ihave committed this fault. I understand that it is wrong and Iam making a resolution not to repeat this mistake again.’ Sucha vow must be taken. If you commit the same fault again, thenagain, you have to repent and apologize and ask for forgive-ness. You have to do it as soon as you realize your mistakes. In this way your faults will decrease and eventually end.

So how should we perform pratikraman towards anindividual? Recall the Shuddhatma (pure Soul), the One who isabsolutely separate from the thoughts, speech, actions, bhaavkarma (charge karma), dravyakarma (subtle dischargekarma), nokarma (gross discharge karma), of that person; theShuddhatma that is separate from the name and all the asso-ciated attachments of that person. Remember the person’s pureSoul in this way. Then ‘Chandulal’ will need to recall his mis-takes (alochana), repent for the mistake and ask for forgive-ness (pratikraman) and vow never to repeat it (pratyakhyan). You the Shuddhatma, have to remain the Knower-Seer of how‘Chandulal’ performs the pratikraman and with what degreeof sincerity.

ADJUST EVERYWHERE

Digest This Phrase

Incorporate this phrase ‘Adjust Everywhere’ in your lifeand peace will take hold. You will be doomed if you fail toadjust in this frightful time of Kaliyug (the present time cycle).

If you do not learn anything else in the worldly life it doesnot matter, but learning to adjust is a necessity. You will sailthrough all difficulties in life if you adjust to anyone who misadjustswith you. A person who knows how to adjust with others doesnot suffer. Adjust everywhere. Adjustment with each and everyperson is the highest religion. There are different prakrutis(people with different personalities, characteristics, tendencies, etc.) in our time, so how can you get along without adjusting?

When elderly people enter a house they typically startmaking all sorts of comments and criticize things of the youngergeneration, like their stereos, etc. They are so meddlesome andinterfering. Times are changing so how do they expect theyounger generation to live without these amenities? When theysee something new they simply desire it. If there is nothingnew, then what will they live for.

The ice cream does not tell you to run away from it. Donot eat it if you do not want it. The older folks keep on resent-ing it. All these differences in opinion are because of the chang-ing times. These youngsters act according to the times.

Therefore one must adjust according to the times. If yourson comes home wearing a new kind of hat, don’t ask him inan irritated tone, ‘Where did you get that?’ Instead, just adjustand ask kindly, ‘Son, where did you get your nice new hat? Wasit very expensive?’ This is how you should adjust.

Our religion declares that you must see convenience ininconvenience. For example, it occurred to me one night thatthe bed sheet was dirty so I made an adjustment in my mindthat it was very nice and soft. It then began to feel very com-fortable to me. It is the knowledge that we acquire through thefive senses that makes us perceive inconvenience.

You suffer because of your opinions of good and bad.You must keep them in check. When we say something is good, other things by comparison become bad and begin to bother us.Whatever people say, whether it is true or not, we should ad-just. If someone tells me I have no sense at all, I would adjustimmediately by saying, ‘You are right. I was always a littleslow. You just realized it today, whereas I have known about itfrom my childhood.’ If you respond like this, you will avoidconflict. They will never bother you again.

Adjustment with the Wife

Your wife is upset with you because you were detainedat work and you come home late. She expresses her disap-proval by shouting, ‘You are late. I will not put up with thisanymore.’ She loses her temper, so you should say: ‘Yes dear, you are quite right. If you tell me to go back, I will. If you tellme to sit inside, I will sit inside.’ She will respond, ‘No, don’tgo back. Just rest here quietly.’ Then you tell her, ‘If you tellme to, I will eat supper or else I will go to sleep’, to which shewill reply, ‘No, have your supper.’ This is adjustment. In themorning you will get a hot cup of tea. If you had become irate, she too would have reacted in a disgruntled manner and thenext morning she would have shoved the teacup at you in anger. Her sulking would continue for the next three days.

This precious time is for your spiritual development. Do notcreate differences. I give you these words: ‘Adjust Everywhere!’If the kadhi (hot soup made from buttermilk) is too salty, youshould remember what Dada has said about adjusting. Eat alittle of it. You can even ask for some pickle if you want, butdo not quarrel. There should be no conflicts in the home. Ad-justments will bring harmony during difficult situations in life.

If You Dislike It, Accept It Anyway

Adjust with the very person who misadjusts with you. Ifthere are maladjustments in the daily life between a woman andher daughter-in-law, or vice versa, the one who wants to es-cape from the vicious cycle of the worldly life should adjust.Even between husband and wife, when one keeps ripping thingsup, the other must mend. This is the only way a relationship canbe sustained with peace. There is no need to insist on yourviewpoint in this relative world. A human should be adjustableeverywhere.

To Improve Her or to Adjust To Her?

How beautiful life will be if you adjust to the other personin every situation. After all, what do we take with us when wedie? ‘I will set her straight’, he says. If you attempt to makeher straight, you yourself will become crooked. Do not try toimprove your wife. Just accept her as she is. It would be adifferent matter if you had a permanent relationship with herlife after life. Who knows where she will be in her next life? You will both die at different times. Your karmas are differentfrom hers. If you manage to improve her in this life, she will besomeone else’s wife in her next life.

Therefore, do not try to improve her. She too, should notattempt to improve you. Whatever she is, she is as good asgold. You cannot improve another’s prakruti (inherent charac-

teristics) ever, however hard you try. A dog’s tail remains crooked,no matter how hard you try to straighten it. So be careful andlet her be whatever she is. Adjust everywhere.

Adjust with Difficult People

The very definition of ideal worldly life is adjustment.Even the neighbors will notice and say, ‘There is conflict inevery household except this one!’ Your energies have to becultivated especially with those who you do not get along with. These energies are already present with people you get alongwith. Inability to adjust is a weakness. Why is it possible for meto get along with everyone? The more you adjust, the moreyour energies will increase and your weaknesses will diminish.Right understanding prevails only when all the wrong under-standings are demolished.

Everyone gets along with easy-going and good-naturedpeople but when you learn to get along with difficult, stubbornand harsh personalities, you have truly accomplished something.Losing your temper is useless. Nothing in this world will ‘fit’you. However, if you ‘fit’ into it, the world will be good. If youattempt to make it ‘fit’ you, it will be ‘crooked’. Adjust every-where.

We must be able to convince even the most obstinate anddisagreeable people. If we need a porter at a railway station, and he haggles with the charges, we have to settle the deal witha few extra rupees. If we don’t, we will have to carry theluggage ourselves.

Do Not Accuse, Adjust

At home one must know how to adjust. If you comehome late from satsang, what will the wife say? ‘You shouldkeep an eye on the time.’ What is wrong with going home alittle early? Why does a husband suffer in this manner? This is

the result of his karmic account of his past life. In his previouslife he had accused others a lot. At that time he was in power. Now you are powerless, so adjust without any complaints. Soin this life, do ‘plus-minus’ (Dadashri’s terminology to settlepast accounts). It is better not to accuse anyone at all. If youbecome an accuser, you will be accused. We do not want anypart of this. If someone insults you, accept it. Credit it to youraccount. How do you feel about this? Is it good to be anaccuser? Why not adjust from the beginning?

If a husband and a wife both make a firm commitmentto adjust, they will find a solution. If one is insistent, the otherhas to adjust by giving in. If you do not adjust you can becomeinsane. Repeated harassment of others is the reason for thisinsanity.

The one, who has learnt the art of adjustment, has foundthe path of eternal bliss. Adjustment taken in daily life situationis Gnan. This will be one’s triumph.

You commit a blunder if you criticize your wife’s cook-ing. You must not do that. You are talking as if you never makeany mistakes. You must adjust with the person with whom youhave made a commitment to spend your life. If you hurt any-one, how can you call yourself follower of the religion of LordMahavir? No one in the home should be hurt.

Some people are in the habit of sleeping late, and somego to bed early. How can they get along? What would happenif they all live together under one roof as a family? Someonein the home may say, ‘You are an idiot’. At such a time youshould learn only that this person only uses such language. Thisis how you adjust. If you return his insult, you will exhaustyourself and the conflict will continue. That person has collidedwith you, but if you collide with him, then it just goes to prove

that you too are blind.

I understand the prakruti, so even if you seek to clashwith me, I will avoid it. I will not let it happen. Otherwise, bothwill suffer in the collision. Therefore, recognize the prakruti ofeveryone in the home.

Conflicts do not occur every day. They only occur whenyour past karmas are ready to give their effects. Adjust whenthis happens. If a fight occurs with your wife, make her happyafterwards by taking her out for dinner. From now on the strainin your relationship should not linger.

You should eat whatever comes to you on your plate. That, which comes in front of you, is your account. God hassaid that if you avoid eating what comes on your plate, youwill be at a loss. So even if there are things on my plate thatI do not particularly care to eat, I will eat some of it anyway. If I don’t, then I will be creating trouble in two ways. First, the person who cooked and brought the food will feel insultedand hurt. Second, the food itself will protest, ‘What have Idone wrong? I am being offered to you, so why are youinsulting me? Take as much as you want, but please do notinsult me!’ Should we not show some respect to it? If some-one gives me something that I do not like, even then I willrespect his wish.

How can you be called a man, if you do not know howto adjust? Those who adjust to their circumstances will not haveany conflicts at home. If you want to enjoy the benefit of yourwife’s company, you must adjust. Otherwise you will createenmity.

People’s lives must be guided by certain principles. Onemust act according to circumstances at hand. He who adjustsaccording to the circumstances is to be applauded and respected.

If one knows how to adjust in every situation, then liberation isat hand. This is a great weapon.

What is the sign of right knowledge? When everyoneelse in the home misadjusts, the one with the right knowledgeadjusts. To adjust in all situations is a sign of right knowledge.I am showing you how to live in this world and how to attainliberation. My goal is to lessen your problems and obstacles.

Whatever you say should be acceptable to the otherperson. If what you say does not agree with him, then it is yourfault. You can only adjust if you correct your mistake. LordMahavir’s message is to adjust everywhere. This maladjust-ment is foolishness. Adjustment is justice. Any kind of obstinacy(adherence to one’s viewpoint) is not justice.

No one has ever misadjusted with me. Here, a householdof only four cannot adjust with each other. Will you learn howto adjust? Is it not possible to adjust? You will learn fromwhatever you observe. The law of this world is that you willlearn from what you observe. No one has to teach you that.

Even if you know very little in this world, it is not a majorproblem. You may have very little knowledge about your fieldof work. Even that is all right, but it is essential that you knowhow to adjust. You have to learn this or you will suffer. Takeadvantage of this message and make the most of it.

AVOID CLASHES

Do Not Come Into Conflict

‘Do not come into conflict with anyone – try to avoid it.’If you absorb these words of mine, you will attain liberation.Exact absorption of just a single sentence of mine will lead oneto liberation. Even if you absorb a single word of mine as it is,your work will be done. It is vital that these words be absorbedjust as they are.

Spiritual dedication to a single word of mine, even for aday, will bring forth tremendous inner energies. Within you thereare infinite energies to resolve all kinds of conflict, no matterhow severe they are.

Whenever you get into a conflict with anyone uninten-tionally or otherwise, you must solve the situation with poiseand walk away from it without creating any hostility.

Traffic Laws Prevent Accidents

In all clashes both parties suffer. If you hurt anyone youwill inevitably suffer pain at that moment. I am giving you theexample of the reason behind traffic regulations. If you causean accident you might end up being killed because collisions canbe fatal. So do not clash with anyone. In the same way, do notcreate conflict in any worldly life interactions, because thereare always risks involved.

When someone comes to you and starts using harsh andabusive words, then you need to be alert and avoid a clash. Youmay not be affected mentally initially, but even so, if you be-come aware of a sense of displeasure within you and you arebothered by it, you have to realize that the other person’s mindis affecting yours. So you must move out of the way. As your

The world has been created through conflicts and perpetu-ated through revenge. Every human being, in fact every livingcreature, is capable of harboring revenge. Where there is exces-sive conflict, they will not leave you without harboring vengeanceagainst you. Whatever it is, it will hold a grudge. This is becausethere is a Soul present in each and every one. A living being inconflict may let go and suffer because of relative weakness, butan inner grudge is established. This grudge will plant a seed ofrevenge, which will be expressed in your next life.

If a person talks too much, whatever he utters should notignite conflict within us. This is religion. Yes indeed, words canbe of all sorts. It is not as if the words are laying a preconditionthat they will cause conflict. People have a habit of clashingwith one another all the time. To say something annoying tosomeone for our own ego satisfaction is the biggest offence ofall. It is only when one dismisses such spoken words that he isconsidered a human being.

Find a Solution, Do Not Endure

To avoid conflict does not mean to tolerate. Your abilityto endure is limited. How much can you tolerate? It would beanalogous to compressing a spring. How long can a springremain compressed? Therefore do not learn how to tolerate.Learn how to reach a solution. In the ignorant state one has nochoice but to tolerate things. Sooner or later the compressedspring will recoil, causing a lot of damage.

Whatever you have to endure by the acts of others isbecause of karma account from your past life. You do not knowwhere this account came from, so you assume it is somethingnew being directed at you. No one creates new accounts. It ismerely the old ones (previous life karma) coming back to you.

The other person is only an instrument to settle your karmicaccount of your past life.

You Clashed…Through Your Own Mistake

In this world, whatever conflicts you come across areentirely due to your own mistakes. No one else is to blame.People are going to clash anyway. If asked, ‘Why did you getinto conflict?’ the response would be, ‘Because they did!’ So heis blind and you just became blind by clashing.

If there is a conflict you should understand that you musthave done something to cause it. Once you become aware thatit is your own mistake, you will have the solution, and the puzzleis solved. If you keep searching for a fault of the other person, your puzzle will persist. If we believe and accept that we are atfault, we will be free from this world. There is no other solu-tion. To attempt to resolve this clash in any other manner willfurther entangle you and this is in fact your subtle ego. Why areyou looking for remedies? If someone says that you are at fault, you should accept it and say, ‘I have always known this.’

If you clash with anyone, it is a sign of your own igno-rance. God does not look at wrong or right. He only looks tosee whether or not the situation has ended in conflict. There isno right or wrong as far as God is concerned.

Suppose a child throws a rock at you and you bleed fromthe cut you sustain, how would you react towards that child? In the same token, consider your antagonist a wall. Then is there a need to layblame on him? We ourselves have to understand that the otherperson is like a wall. By doing this, you will avoid all problems.

If the wall had any power, you would too. Is it capableof confronting you? The same applies to everyone else too.Whatever the account your wife has come with, she will notleave you without settling it. She is simply an instrument tosettle your account. You cannot escape this. What is the pointof shouting and complaining when she has no control over herspeech? Therefore become like a wall yourself. If you continueto be verbally abusive to your wife, the God within her will takenote of it. On the other hand, if you become like a wall whenshe abuses you the God within you will help you.

There is no difference between colliding with a wall andgetting into an argument with someone over differences ofopinion. It is essentially the same thing. Both are blind. A per-son bumps into a wall because he cannot see what lies aheadof him, and a person gets into conflict because he cannot finda solution and so he gets into disagreement. We should under-stand that these anger, pride, deceit, and greed arise because ofone’s inability to see what lies ahead. It is no fault of the wall, but of the person who is hurt by it. All these are only walls. Allsituations are like the wall. When you clash with a wall you donot go to look for who is at fault. There is no need to provewho is right and who is wrong.

Because of conflict you would not only be hurt right now,but your entire day would be ruined. Moreover, you will forgohuman birth in your next life. The human life form can onlycome as long as there is goodness and decency in you. But ifyou maintain a beastly nature, battling and ramming your horns

into others, will you be worthy of a human birth again?

Conflict Is a Sign of Ignorance

What causes conflict? Ignorance! If you have conflictwith anyone, it is a sign of your own weakness. People are notat fault. They never cause differences of opinions. The differ-ences in opinion are your own fault. If someone clashes withyou on purpose, you should ask for his or her forgiveness.Where there is conflict, it is your own fault.

Clashes Diminish Spiritual Power

If there is anything that totally depletes spiritual energy, itis conflict. If you become involved in a fight, you are done for!If someone tries to provoke you, you should restrain yourself. There should not be any conflict. Avoid conflict at any cost; evenat the cost of your own life! One can attain liberation only ifthere is no clash. If you learn to avoid getting into conflict withanyone, you don’t even need a guru or any other intermediary. In one or two life times you will attain liberation. When onedecides and sustains a strong resolve that he does not want toinvolve himself in any friction with others, it is the beginning ofright belief (samkit). I guarantee that they will get it. One cancure the effects of clash on the physical body with medicines, butwho will be able to remove the scars of clash on the mind andon the intellect? They will not heal even in a thousand lifetimes.

In your past life, all the energy that you had lost becauseof clashes, is now coming back to you. Beware not to createany new clashes or else your energies, even those you have justacquired, will be lost again. However in the absence of clashthey will increase continuously.

It is because of revenge that there is clash in this world. The root cause of this world is vengeance. He who has stoppedhis vengeance and clash is liberated. Love has no obstacle. When hostility and enmity go away, love prevails.

Commonsense – ‘Everywhere Applicable’

If someone tries to clash with you but you do not clashwith them, then commonsense will arise. You will lose yourcommonsense if you clash with them. There should be no fric-tion from your end. Commonsense arises from another person’sfriction with you. The strength of the Soul is such that it willshow you how to conduct yourself during times of friction.Once it is shown, this knowledge will never leave you. Thisway you will acquire more commonsense. If at times you doget into clash, then you can erase the consequences by doingpratikraman (asking for forgiveness sincerely). Otherwise thereare grave consequences.

To think negatively about a wall would bring some harmupon you, because the loss will only be one-sided, whereaseven a single negative thought towards a living being is verydetrimental. Losses will be encountered on both sides. But ifwe do pratikraman afterwards, the faults will be erased. There-fore, wherever there is friction, do pratikraman so it comes toan end.

Wherever you are, avoid conflicts. In causing conflictsyou are spoiling this life and you are ruining your next life too.The one who ruins this life is definitely ruining the one to come!If this life improves, so will the next life! If we do not encounterproblems in this life, then we should know that the next life willbe problem free too!

For those who do not clash with anybody, I guaranteethey will attain moksha in three life times. If you clash, youmust do pratikraman. All those clashes will continue as long assexual relations continue. Sex is the root cause of clashes. Hewho conquers sexual instincts conquers all. Such a man im-presses all who see him.

WHATEVER HAS HAPPENED IS JUSTICE

Nature Is Always Just

Questioner: ‘Nature is just’, what is this based on? Therehas to be some basis for it to remain just, right?

Dadashri: Nature is always just. Not even for a fractionof a moment has it been unjust. Justice that prevails in law courtsmay be unjust at times, but nature’s justice is always exact.

If you accept nature’s justice and understand that ‘What-ever has happened is justice’; you will attain liberation. If youquestion nature’s justice, you will invite puzzles and suffering. Tobelieve that nature is always just is called Gnan (real Knowl-edge). To understand things ‘as they are’, is Gnan itself and notto understand things ‘as they are’ is ignorance (agnan).

Wars, conflicts and dissension in the world are a result ofpeople’s pursuit of justice. The world is entirely in the form ofjustice. It is futile to look for your own justice in it. Everything thathas happened and everything that is happening is itself justice. Intheir search for justice people have established laws and courts, but they are foolish to assume that justice is found in them. Oneshould simply ‘see’ what happens. That is justice. Justice and injus-tice are the effects of the accounts from our previous life, but peopleattempt to link their idea of justice with the account of this life andin doing so, they end up in the courts and exhaust themselves.

If you insult someone, and they in anger insult you backseveral times, you may consider it unjust, but you should regardit as a settlement of your past account. Nature brings all theevidences together in order to settle a past account. The hard earned money is of this life, but there is also theaccount of the past life. One has pending accounts. Withoutsuch accounts nothing can be taken away from him. No onehas the power to take anything away, and if anything is takenaway, it is because of previous accounts. No such person isborn in this world that is able to do any harm to anyone. Natureis regulating this precisely.

From The Effects One Can Determine the Cause

All this is a result. Just like the results of an examination. If you score ninety-five percent in mathematics and twenty-fivepercent in English, would you not be able to deduce from theseresults where you made mistakes? Likewise, in life we candetermine from the effect or outcome of things, what the causeswere for our mistakes. The results reflect our past causes. Allthe events that come together are results, and based on theresults we can deduce the cause behind them.

A thorn is lying upright on a roadside where many peoplewalk every day. Many pedestrians use this path, but the thorndoes not hurt them. One day you hear someone yelling, ‘Thief!Thief!’ You are barefoot and you run outside to see what ishappening and accidentally step on the thorn. This happensbecause of your account!

If someone hurts you, you should accept it and credit itto your account. You only need to credit that which you havegiven out. Nature’s law prevents one person from hurting an-other without a cause. There has to be causes behind this, socredit whatever comes your way.

What Is God’s Place Like?

God is neither justice nor injustice. His language is that

no living being should suffer. Justice and injustice only exist inthe human language.

A thief believes in stealing as a way of life. A philanthro-pist believes in giving to charity. All this is the language of man,not God. Nothing like this exists with God. In God’s world thereis only this much: ‘One should not inflict pain on any livingbeing. This is our only principle!’

Nature is the overseer of justice and injustice. The justiceand injustice of man is variable and not exact. It may free theguilty and punish the innocent. There is no escape from nature’sjustice. Nobody can influence it.

One’s Own Mistakes Make One See Injustice

Man sees the world as unjust because of his own faults. The world has never been unjust, not even for a second. It isalways completely and absolutely just. Justice can fluctuate inthe courts of law, one can be proven wrong, but the justice ofnature is constant.

So in this lifetime, whatever inner intents (bhaavs) onehas, these bhaavs create new karma for his coming life. Thatis, he is planting the seeds in this life, the results of which hewill realize and experience in his next life. So whatever heexperiences in this life is really the discharge or the results ofhis past karmas. This discharge is under the control of vyavasthit(scientific circumstantial evidences). It is always dispensingjustice. It only dispenses nature’s justice. It is nature’s justiceeven when a father kills his own son.

A pauper may win a million rupees in a lottery. That isjustice, and it is also justice when someone’s pocket is picked. When a man loses his only son, it is justice. No one has dealthim any injustice. There is no injustice from God or from any-where else for that matter. This is justice. That is why I amsaying that the world is in the form of justice. It is constantly

25 26

Page 33: Self Realization in 2 cut

in the form of justice. When a man loses his one and only child, the only people who mourn his death are his family members. Why don’t the neighbors around him mourn also? The familymembers cry because of their own selfishness. If you look atthe event from the eternal aspect, then nature is just.

This justice does not change even for a second. If therewere injustice, no one would be able to attain liberation. Peopleask, ‘why is it that even good people encounter difficulties?’ Inreality, no one is able to cause difficulties for them. As long asyou do not interfere, nothing will interfere with you. There is noone who has the power to do so. All these problems existbecause of your own meddling.

The World Is in the Form of Justice

This world is not an illusion. This world is in the form ofjustice. Never has nature allowed any injustice to prevail. Wherenature causes a man to be slaughtered or an accident to takeplace, it is all justice. Nature has never stepped out of the realmsof justice. It is because of one’s lack of understanding that ev-erything is misinterpreted. People do not know how to live lifewell. They experience nothing but worries. Whatever happens, one should accept it as justice.

If you understand and accept that ‘Whatever happens isjustice’, you will sail through life, unhindered. In this world injusticedoes not exist even momentarily. Whatever has happened is jus-tice. It is your intellect that traps you and makes you question thejustice of nature, which is all encompassing. The justice throughthe intellect is limited. I am telling you a fundamental thing aboutnature; you should get separated from your intellect because it isthe intellect that entangles you. Once you understand this law ofnature, you should not listen to what your intellect tells you. Mis-takes are to be found in the law courts, but nature’s justice is exact.

If you do not tell yourself that, ‘Whatever happens is jus-

tice’, your intellect will become very restless. For infinite lives theintellect has been responsible for creating confusion and conflict. In reality there is never an occasion where one needs to defendoneself. As for myself, I never come across an occasion whereI need to say anything. The one who lets go in a dispute is the onewho wins. The one who keeps tugging does so at his own risk. How can one tell when one’s intellect is gone? It is when one stopslooking for justice. When you become convinced that ‘Whateverhappens is justice’, then it means that your intellect is gone. Whatdoes the intellect do? It keeps looking for justice, and because ofthis your worldly life continues. So do not look for justice.

The Root of Unhappiness in the Worldly Life

Our relentless search for justice has exhausted us. A per-son always asks what fault of his it was to deserve such badtreatment from others. When you look for justice in such situa-tions, you suffer and pay the price. So do not look for justice. Ihave discovered this simple and plain fact. It is in the pursuit forjustice that people have been scarred. Even after seeking justice, the results remain the same. Why not accept and understand thisfrom the very beginning? This is all interference of the ego.

It is justice when a drought occurs. During a drought, afarmer will complain about God’s injustice. He does this out ofignorance. Will his complaints bring rain? The fact that there isno rain is justice. It rains heavily in certain areas while othersexperience drought. Nature keeps everything vyavasthit (in or-der). It is impartial. Nature dispenses justice impartially.

Do Not Look for Justice

If we stop looking for justice, the intellect will go away. Why do you look for justice? I asked a girl why she was lookingfor justice and she replied, ‘You have no idea what my mother-in-law is like. Since I came into this home, she has given menothing but grief. What have I done wrong?’

No one harasses anyone without an account from past life.It must be your unsettled account. She said, ‘I had never seenher face before.’ I told her, ‘You may not have seen her in thislife, but do you know the accounts of your past life with her?’Whatever is happening with her is justice.

Does your son intimidate you at home? That intimidation isjustice itself. Your intellect will tell you, ‘How dare he intimidateme? I am his father!’ Whatever happens is justice.

The Path of Liberation Is the End of All Questions

If you say that whatever happens is justice, you will remainwithout any questions. People however, are out to look for justiceand desire liberation as well. This is a contradiction. You cannothave both. Where questions end, liberation begins. In this scienceof ours, called Akram Vignan, there remain no questions.

Whenever the intellect seeks justice, just say, ‘Whateverhas happened is justice’.

When we look for justice, the questions keep increasing.Nature’s justice eliminates all questions. Whatever has happened, and whatever is happening, is justice. And still, if five arbitratorsgo against a person who does not accept their verdict, then hisquestions and suffering will keep on increasing. He will not ac-cept their justice or anyone else’s. This way his problems keepon increasing. He entangles himself further and further, in vain, and suffers a great deal. Instead he should accept what happensas justice, from the beginning.

Nature always prevails when it comes to matters of jus-tice. It is constantly being just. However, it can never give anyproof of this. Only the Gnani can give you proof of how it is just. The Gnani can convince you and once you are convinced, yourwork is done. When all your questions are solved, you are free.

THE FAULT IS OF THE SUFFERER

In Nature’s Court

There are many judges in this world, but in the world ofkarma there is only one natural justice: ‘The fault is of thesufferer.’ This is the only justice. This justice governs the entireuniverse. The justice of the world is illusionary justice and itperpetuates worldly life.

Nature’s law governs this world at all times. Those whodeserve merit are given merit and those who deserve punish-ment are punished. Nothing operates outside the law of nature. The law of nature is completely just, but because one does notunderstand it, he does not accept it. When one’s understandingbecomes pure, he will be able to accept this nature’s justice. Aslong as one has a selfish outlook, justice cannot be seen.

Why Do We Suffer?

Why do we suffer? It is because of our past mistakesthat we suffer. We are bound by our own mistakes. There isliberation for us, once these mistakes are destroyed. In reality, you are free, but you suffer bondage because of your mistakes.

What kind of justice prevails, when you are the judge, thedefendant and also the lawyer? This kind of justice would favoronly you, and so you will rule according to what suits you andyou will continue to make mistakes and remain bound. Thejudge within you points out your mistakes. The lawyer withindefends those mistakes. In doing so, you become bound. Forthe sake of your liberation you should find out who is at faultfor this suffering. The fault is always of the one who suffers. In the worldly terms it may be considered unjust, but in God’sjustice, the fault is of the sufferer.

People do not have the knowledge of the reality of thisworld. They only have the knowledge of ignorance (the relativeworld), which causes them to wander endlessly, life after life.If someone steals your wallet, whose fault is it? Why is it thatonly your wallet was stolen and not anyone else’s? Of the twoparties involved, who is the one that is suffering now? Themistake is of the one who suffers.

One Suffers Because of One’s Own Mistake

If a person suffers, it is because of his own mistakes. Ifa person enjoys happiness, it is the reward of his good deeds. But the law of the world is such that it accuses the nimit(apparent doer; person who inflicts the suffering). God’s law,the real Law, catches the real culprit. This law is exact and noone can ever change it. There is no law in this world that caninflict suffering upon anyone.

Surely there must be some fault of yours, so that theother person is blaming you. Why not destroy that mistake? Inreality, no person in this world can cause hurt to another. Thisis how independent every living being is. If there is any suffer-ing, it is because of one’s own past mistakes. Once these mis-takes are destroyed nothing is left pending.

The world is not meant for suffering, it is meant forenjoying. People receive that which is due to them according totheir karmic account. Why are some people happy while othersare suffering? It is because they have brought such accountswith them.

If a man remembers this sentence throughout his life andapplies it to his life’s circumstances with the correct under-standing, he would not need a guru. These words alone willtake him to moksha (final liberation).

If you are suffering, it is because of your own fault. No

one else is to blame. From the worldly perspective, the one whoinflicts pain is at fault, but God’s law says that the fault is ofthe sufferer.

Who Is at Fault?

The primary reason for their suffering is because of theirown mistakes, but their attachment and responsibility also playa part. There are many other reasons. Most importantly, if youare suffering, it is your own fault. Therefore, do not see anyoneelse’s fault; otherwise you will create new accounts for yournext life.

One must first learn how to live life. Once the quarrelsat home cease, then you learn other things. Once you under-stand that the fault is of the sufferer, there will be no quarrelsat home. If your mother-in-law harasses you and you are notable to sleep at night, while she sleeps soundly, you shouldrecognize that you are at fault.

There are two kinds of laws: Nature’s law, and man’slaw. If you accept nature’s law, your life will be simple andeasy. If you accept man’s law, puzzles and suffering will re-main.

Result of Our Own Mistakes

Whenever you experience any suffering, it is as a resultof your own mistakes.

Without our fault, we wouldn’t have to suffer. There isno one in this world that can inflict the slightest of suffering onyou, and if someone does, he is merely a nimit (instrument) init.

should understand that he is at fault. The wife is not suffering. If the wife is tossing and turning and the husband is snoring, thewife is at fault. Whoever is at fault, will suffer. This is a veryprofound science. The world always blames the nimit.

What Is God’s Law?

God’s law says that at any given time, at any given place, the person who suffers is at fault. A pickpocket is happy whenhe steals a person’s wallet. He will enjoy himself with themoney he stole, whereas his victim would be suffering. There-fore, the sufferer is at fault. He must have stolen in his past lifeand so today he is caught and is paying for his mistakes. Innature’s law, today he is considered the thief, but the other thiefwill be called a thief the day he is caught.

People blame others when they are suffering. By doingso their faults double, and their problems in life keep increasing. If you were to understand this phrase, your problems will de-crease.

Man’s law finds fault in what the eye sees, whereas thelaw of nature finds the sufferer at fault.

If you do not inflict even the slightest suffering on othersand if you accept the suffering others impose upon you, thenyour past accounts will be settled and you will attain liberation.

Questioner: If you understand this theory, all your ques-tions will be solved.

Dadashri: No one is at fault. The fault is of the personwho blames others. There is nobody at fault in this world.Everyone gets what he or she deserves according to his or herkarma. They are not creating new faults today. Today’s situa-

tion is the result of past karma. Today he may repent but sincehe has already made the contract in his previous life, he has nochoice but to fulfil it.

If you want to know who is at fault in this world, find theone who suffers. He is at fault. Problems between a daughter-in-law and a mother-in-law are escalated and exacerbated byeach placing the blame on the other. Is the mother-in-law tor-menting the daughter-in-law or is the daughter-in-law giving hermother-in-law a tough time? If the daughter-in-law is suffering, she should understand that it is her fault, and vice versa. If theycontinue to blame each other, they will create new accountsand they will have to suffer them again. Their accounts canonly be settled through applying knowledge of the Gnani that,‘The fault is of the sufferer’.

Therefore, if you want to be liberated from this world, you have to accept whatever comes your way, whether it isgood or bad. This way your accounts will be settled. Even eyecontact cannot take place without past accounts, so how canthese events take place without past accounts? Whatever youhave given to others, you will receive in return. If you acceptit gladly, you will be settling your account. If you do not acceptit, you will have to suffer.

Difficult to Understand, but This Is the Reality

When something breaks in the house the children willimmediately remind their mother that the fault is hers, becauseof the look on her face. If there is too much salt in the veg-etable curry, one just has to look at the grimaces on the facesto know who is at fault. If all the soup spills by accident, whoever has the look of disgust on his face is at fault. The faultis of the sufferer.

People suffer because of their own mistakes. The person

who throws the stone is not at fault, but the person who isinjured is at fault. No matter how unruly and misbehaved chil-dren around you are, no matter what pranks they play, if it doesnot bother you, then you are not a fault. If it affects you, thenyou must understand that it is your fault.

Analyze It This Way

Who is at fault? Find out who is suffering. If a servantbreaks ten teacups in the home, it will affect someone in thehome. The children in the house would not care, so they do notsuffer. The parents get annoyed, but even then the mothermanages to fall asleep. The father calculates his loss, ‘Tentimes five means I have lost fifty rupees’. He is alert. That iswhy he suffers the most. From this you understand who is atfault. If you continue to analyze situations in this way, you willprogress spiritually and attain liberation.

Questioner: Some people just do not understand, nomatter how nicely you interact with them.

Dadashri: If they do not understand, then the fault isyours. It is absolutely wrong to see faults in others. It is be-cause of your own fault that you encounter a nimit who inflictssuffering on you. If the nimit is a person, you blame him, butif the nimit is a thorn that pricks you, what would you do?Hundreds of people walk on this footpath but none of them gethurt, but when ‘Chandulal’ is walking along, the thorn sticks inhis foot. Vyavasthit is very precise. It only delivers suffering tothose with past accounts. It brings together all the circum-stances including the nimit and the victim. But what is the faultof the nimit?

Dada’s Understanding Towards Mistakes

The fault is of the sufferer is the law that will liberateyou. If someone were to ask me how he could recognize his

mistakes, I would tell him to make a note of all the circum-stances where he experiences suffering. Those are his mis-takes. He has to find the mistakes that lie behind his suffering.People suffer all the time; they must find their mistakes.

Where Does the Main Mistake Lie?

Whose mistake is it? It is the sufferer’s. What is themistake? The mistake is his belief that ‘I am Chandulal’. Thatis the mistake. In reality no one in this world is at fault so noone can be blamed. This is a fact.

The person who inflicts suffering on you is merely animit and the main fault is your own. The person who hurts youor the person who brings you joy are both nimits. Everythinghappens because of past accounts.

If you understand and grasp just one word of the GnaniPurush, you will attain liberation. You will never need to takeanyone’s advice regarding who is at fault. The fault is of thesufferer.

When I am showing you this perfect and clear justice, where is the need for any discussion of what is just and whatis unjust? This is a very profound and subtle truth. I am givingyou the essence of all the scriptures and telling you exactly hownature’s justice works: ‘The fault is of the sufferer.’ This sen-tence is very exact. Whoever uses it and applies it, will achieveliberation.

who throws the stone is not at fault, but the person who isinjured is at fault.

The Purpose of the Trimandir, the Temple ofImpartiality

Whenever there has been a presence of true Gnanis(Moodh Purush), such as Lord Mahavir, Lord Krishna, LordRam, these Gnanis draw people out of their religious prejudicesand establish them in the religion of the Soul (the Self;Atmadharma). Due to changing time cycles and absence of trueGnanis, there is a gradual move towards differences and divisionsin religion, social classes and communities, which result in loss ofpeace and harmony.

Dadashri, the Gnani Purush of Akram Vignan (shortcutpath to Self-realization or the religion of the Self) not only helpsestablish people in Atmadharma, but in order to also pull peopleout of their religious biases of ‘yours’ and ‘mine’, and their graveensuing karmic liabilities, he took the unprecedented revolution-ary step to establish the Trimandir. The Trimandir is a symbol ofreligious impartiality where the three major religions (Jain, Vaishnav& Shiva) come together on a single platform.

It was for the purpose of liberation that Lord Mahavirgave people the path for attaining Self-realization. In the BhagvatGita, Lord Krishna gave Arjuna the divine vision of ‘atmavatsarva bhuteshu (see the Atma, the Self, in all)’. One becomesShiva himself when he attains the separation between jiva (mor-tal state) and Shiva (Atma, the immortal Self) and reaches thestate of ‘Chidanandaroop, Shivohum Shivohum (I am Shivawith eternal bliss).’

Thus the core essence of all original Self-realized beings ofevery religion was only to attain Self-realization (Atmadharma). If one understands this, then a spiritual effort to attain Self-realization begins. Then by seeing everyone through the vision ofthe Self, oneness with all arises. And there prevails a constantinner intent to not hurt the foundation of any religion.

Dadashri used to say that any disrespect done, whetherknowingly or unknowingly, can be washed away by reverence.Upon entering the Trimandir, as one naturally bows with foldedhands before any of the idols therein; all inner insistence, obsti-nacy and discriminatory beliefs begin to erase and he becomesfree from all insistence (niragrahi).

What Is a Gnan Vidhi?

Gnan Vidhi is a scientific spiritual process of gracing peoplewith the experience of Self-realization. It is the grace of theGnani Purush that separates the real Self from the non-Self (theworldly self). This session is different from the regular satsangswhich is in the form of questions-answers.

The Knowledge that manifested within the Gnani PurushDadashri, also known as Dada Bhagwan, in 1958 is the verysame Knowledge that is graced upon all seekers. Now this hap-pens through the medium of Atmagnani Deepakbhai, with thegrace of Dada Bhagwan and blessings by Atmagnani Niruma.

Why Should You Take Gnan – Knowledge of the Self?

1. To awaken and experience the Soul; your real Self.

2. To attain inner peace due to destruction of all wrong beliefs, and establishment of the right belief of ‘I, the real Self, ampure Soul’.

3. To attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

4. Demerit karmas of infinite past lives are destroyed.

5. To experience eternal peace, happiness and harmony withall living beings.

6. To get solutions to carry out your worldly life through rightunderstanding.

7. You finish paying off all past karmas and you do not bindany new ones.

Is It Necessary for One to Be Physically Presentfor the Gnan Vidhi?

1. Gnan Vidhi is the result of the Gnani’s grace and blessings. It is necessary to attend this Gnan Vidhi in the direct pres-ence of an Atmagnani.

2. Spiritual information acquired through watching satsangprograms of revered Niruma and revered Deepakbhai onTV or VCD, reading books, etc., can help you prepare thebackground for attaining Gnan, but they cannot give youSelf-realization.

3. Any spiritual practice done for attaining Gnan will help youattain peace. However for awakening of the Soul (Self-realization), only the Gnan taken in the direct presence of anAtmagnani will be necessary. For example, if you want tolight your candle, you need a real burning candle, a pictureof a burning candle will not do.

••••• You do not have to change your religion or your guruto attain this Gnan.

••••• And you do not have to pay anything to attain thisGnan.
