Seminar on Gospel Centred Proclamation
Friday afternoon 28 February 2014
What do we mean by Proclamation?
• Presence evangelism – “how many are helped?”• Proclamation evangelism – “how many hear and
understand the gospel?”• Persuasion evangelism – “how many become
active followers of Jesus, fully integrated into the Body of Christ?”
• We tend to be good at Presence and bad at relating presence evangelism to other forms of evangelism.
Keys to proclamation
• Receptivity to the gospel rises in direct proportion to the number of times people hear “God talk”.
• People hear more clearly when they are in relationships with people they trust.
• Hearing is a two way communication process – people need to be able to speak as well as listen.
Building relationships
• Open set, closed set, fuzzy set• Gifted evangelists• Offering a witness• Telling our story• Cross cultural barriers
