ConclusionOVERVIEWABSTRACTThe life cycle phases of manufacturing industries consist of extraction of raw materials , its use and recycling. Each phase consumes several inputs like energy, water, materials etc., and outputs inform of air, water and solid emissions.LCS mainly focuses on the methodology use for assessment which enable to measure the environmental performance of a product.LCS help to measure overall performance of the firm.

INTRODUCTIONIn todays world of greener economy, it has become significant for industries to focus on minimization of environmental impacts of products.

Current trend of zero emission has forced industries to produce less harmful and more echo friendly products.

More eco friendly products results in higher market share and customer faith.

The initiative taken in energy conservation by Coca-Cola in the year 1969.

LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENTLCA is a tool to evaluate the environmental consequences of a product through out its life time.

LCA is used for quantitative analysis of the aspects of a product.

LCA has applications in various functions. product development process. product improvement process.

Scope & GoalInterpretationImpact assessmentInventory analysisProduct development,Policy makingMarketing,Others.Life cycle assessment frame workMETHODOLOGYGoal and scope :This phase consist of identification of problem scope and boundaries of the analysis.

To achieve the above relevant question and there answers are formulated. what is the material of rolls of cold rolling mill or what are basic inputs.

DATA COLLECTIONThe data for raw material extraction and recycling phase is obtained from public data base.

Data for manufacturing phase is obtaining by self observations and calculations.

Data for use phase is obtained from customers.

LIFE CYCLE INVENTORYLCI is the most important phase and forms the base for the LCA.

LCI deals with the development of a product system.

In this phase the inputs and outputs of the system are quantified.

The main objective of inventory analysis is to perform mass & energy balance to quantify material energy and emission balances.

LIFE CYCLE IMPACT ASSESSMENTLCIA consist of classification, characterization, weighting.

In classification various environmental impacts are classified into categories like global warming potential, ozone lair depletion potential.

3. Weighting step may be performed in which priority weights are assigned to characterization, which may give one final score for each alternate product system.

INTERPRETATIONThe detail description of life cycle impact assessment is given ISO 14043 standard.

This is the last stage of life cycle assessment where a final decision and judgment were made.

It does comparisons with previously published life cycle assessment studies.LITERATURE REVIEWIn order to find the various life cycle impact areas there analysis and interpretation, literature review of authors who have made research concerned area required.

Reputed journals were selected for literature survey. Articles, handbooks of national & international government authorities and reference book from the year 2000-2013 were taken into account.

09CONCLUSION The life cycle assessment tool with an appropriate methodology along with the use of a software tool enables to develop and input output model of the product system for the rolls.

The assessment enables to take the corrective actions in selection of materials, energy & process which imparts less harm to the environment and human health.

LCA tools help the management in strategic planning product development, marketing and improvement.
