TheAPIRP-67wasdevelopedtoaidbothoperating
andservicecompaniesinestablishingexplosive
safetyguidelinesfortheirownoperations.Thereare
approximately5accidentsinvolvingexplosivesinour
industryeachyear.Most,ifnotall,ofthesearerelated
tohumanerror.Itisimportantnotonlythatthese
guidelinesexist,butalsothattheyarefollowed.
Thiscourseisintendedforeveryoneintheoil
industrywhomaycomeincontactwithorwhowill
beinthenearvicinityofexplosivesatthewellsite;
fromtheoperatingcompanyengineerorrigforeman
totheexperiencedservicecompanyexplosiveuser.
Successfulcompletionofthecoursedoesnot
certifythatanyindividualisreadyfortheshooting
compartment,butitdoeslaythegroundworkandisa
criticalintroduction.
Everyoneattendingtheclassleavesunderstanding
thepossibleramificationsofNOTfollowing
procedures.Certificationthatanindividualcanand
willworksafelywithexplosivesistheresponsibilityof
