FROM: Daniel Coffey, Director of Public and Campus Relations TO: Ziad Rashdan, ASUN President DATE: October 3, 2013 RE: Letter of Resignation

It has been my pleasure to serve as the Director of Public and Campus Relations

throughout this year, but, due to personal issues, I am no longer able to serve in this role. My resignation will take effect immediately, but I will work to tie any loose ends before passing the responsibility onto the next person. I have enjoyed every minute of serving the Associated Students of the University of Nevada, but, unfortunately, I am no longer able to focus my best efforts on this position. While I am sad to leave this position, I am fully confident in those who continue to lead the way in ASUN and I am excited to see what direction the association will go moving forward. Each person I have met in ASUN has not only been a coworker but a friend as well. I appreciate all the people who have made my life in ASUN so fulfilling and I hope everyone will continue to strengthen the association year to year. Thank you again for the wonderful opportunities. I hope to see everyone continue to grow as leaders, and I look forward to seeing the difference ASUN leaders will make on this campus this year and in years moving forward.

Respectfully yours,

Daniel Coffey

RE: Senate Bill 81-An Act to Make Changes to the Budget for FY 14

As the final balance forward numbers come in from FY 13, the necessary changes need to

be made to the FY 14 budget in order to reflect actual amounts in accounts. This bill is

recognizing more rollover funds and making changes to the budget as requested by

President Rashdan, Chief Justice Del Carlo, and Director Rodriguez. Some of the

changes:

-The Undergraduate Research Journal account was accidentally left out of the budget

passed for FY 14. However, all monies within the account have rolled over from FY 13,

so there are no changes to the budget other than recognizing the account.

-The Committee on Civic Engagement has been created, and funds for a prorated stipend

are moved into the proper account.

-The Judicial Council requested money in their “Host” and “Operating” line items for

their Judicial Internship program, and a $250 increase will be put into these accounts.

-The Unity Commission hired six commissioners instead of the five that were originally

accounted for this fiscal year.

-The Office of the Provost provides a subsidy each Fiscal Year to help support Campus

Escort. They will be transferring $13,000.00 this year.

-Two officers on the Election Commission are paid an amount per credit hour. Since the

cost per credit has increased, the salary amounts need to be changed to reflect that.

Page 9: Senate of the Associated Students · 7. Nomination of Katie Strickland to the Office of Member-at-Large 8. Nomination of Sheyenne Taylor to the Office of Member-at-Large When the

-The amount that Graduate Assistants are paid has increased, so Director Rodriguez has

opted to move monies around within the ASUN-CSE Account to reflect the money

needed to go towards them.

This bill was submitted by Senator Fabbi and passed unanimously through committee.
