In February, Nicole, one of our Cruising travel experts and I, attended the Cruiseco Conference for the top cruise agents in Australia. I also met quite a few members of the Magellan Travel Group, of which we are also a member. So why am I telling you about two ‘behind the scenes’ travel organisations that most people don’t even know exist? To give you even more reasons to book with Seniors Holiday Travel, of course!

ERNIE & BARBARA’S EUROPE TOUR OCTOBER 2015What a fantastic 26 day trip to Europe, covering nine countries! This was our first long-haul overseas holiday, organised by Karen from Seniors Holiday Travel. Our journey began with a 2 night stopover in Dubai. Yes it was hot, but well worth it to experience the different culture. Only wish we had more time here!

We then flew to Paris to connect with our Travelmarvel tour. This was a real experience for us: centuries old buildings, narrow, cobblestone streets, crazy Paris traffic and the Louvre (much bigger than we realised!). Other highlights included lunch and the view from the Eiffel Tower, the Moulin Rouge Cabaret and a Seine River Cruise. Our accommodation and local guide were faultless.

Our coach trip from Paris to Amsterdam saw us having breakfast in France, lunch in Belgium and dinner in The Netherlands. We experienced beautiful, lush green fields and Dutch windmills. We cruised the canals and visited the Red Light District.

Next, we were welcomed on board Travelmarvel Jewel for our 15 day cruise to Budapest. Every aspect of the ship and its crew was exceptional. The cultural entertainment, demonstrations and meals provided catered for everyone, and they went out of their way to accommodate my many food allergies. It was all like 5 star!

Our daily excursions went like clockwork. Led by very knowledgeable, local guides, we walked through ancient cities, toured palaces, castles and abbeys and visited WWII sites. We shopped in the local markets and sampled local food and drinks. We also experienced the famous Sound of Music tour in Austria. The Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers provided magnificent scenery, and the autumn colours were breathtaking!

We then travelled on to Prague. A walk around Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral with its impressive entrance and stained glass windows is a must, along with the changing of the guards. The sunset cruise on the Vltava River and the hop on, hop off bus tour is a

great way to experience this amazing city. Once again, our accommodation and guide in Prague were faultless.

Our consultant, Karen was willing to go ‘over and above’ to ensure we had a stress-free, memorable holiday. Thank you, Karen! We’ve already booked our next trip with Seniors Holiday Travel.

Lyn & Lance’s luxury adventure cruise of a lifetimeWith the advice of our wonderful Seniors Holiday Travel consultant, Jennifer, we decided on Seabourn’s Antarctica, Patagonia & South Georgia cruise from Valparaiso (Santiago), Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina – a 24 night adventure.

We had heard a lot about Seabourn, but this was our first cruise with them. Truly a six star experience!

The cruise took us down the Chilean Coast, visiting Puerto Montt, Castro, the Chilean Fjords and Punta Arenas, before reaching Ushuaia (Argentina), the departure point for our Antarctic adventure.

The Antarctic Wilderness is simply stunning. Words cannot express the sights, feelings and emotions we experienced. Truly amazing and yet somewhere very few people get to

visit, let alone land on the Antarctic Continent itself! Seabourn Quest is equipped with zodiacs for landings and sightseeing, and kayaks for the more adventurous.

With a highly experienced Expedition Team on board, we were in for a treat. We saw Chinstrap and Gentoo Penguins, Antarctic birds and other wildlife. We also received a warm welcome from the crew at the Gonzalez Videla Base (a Chilean outpost) in Paradise Bay, who were very happy to show us around their home for six months of the year.

The cruising was highlighted with lectures by the Expedition Team, sightings of Orcas, Humpbacks and the rare Blue Whale, sea birds and the most amazing scenery we could ever imagine. We cruised amongst the imposing icebergs - many bigger than our ship!

We were again blessed with great weather for our tours of Cooper Bay, Grytviken (the old whaling station) and Salisbury Plain, home to 500,000 pairs of King Penguins, as well as many different species of seals. I’ll never forget standing on our verandah, watching large pods of dolphins swimming, jumping and diving close to the ship.

Then it was on to Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires, where we relaxed for a couple of days before returning home.
