Leaving High School

By Charlie-Ann Rice Leaving high school is a major step in anybody’s life because they’re leaving a comfort zone that they’ve known for the past four years and are moving out into “the real world.” Some seniors could not be more ecstatic to leave the place they think has been too control-ling and strict throughout their high school careers. These seniors most likely have had everything planned since the first day of their senior year. They’ve picked out the college they’ll be attending, who their roommate will be, and what they want to major in. “I can’t wait to get out of high school and finally leave and go to college,” shared senior Matt Sere-

fine, who will be attending Ash-land University in the fall. On the other hand, there are seniors that could not be more nervous to be leaving the place that has been their home during the past four years. The reasons for being nervous are unlimited, depending on the person. The number one reasons sen-iors may be nervous to leave high school is obvious - they don’t know what to do with their life. They haven’t decided a major, where they’ll go to college, or if they want to take time off after high school to possibly join the Armed Forces. Another leading reason why kids are nervous to leave high school is because they’ll be leav-

ing their friends and family be-hind. It’s easy to see that when you leave high school and go off to college, it becomes easy to drift away from the people you were once closest with. You go away to college and get busy with new classes and start making new friends and it becomes easier to forget about texting your friends you used to talk to every day. For some people, this works out for the better because their friends from high school might not have been the best for them. Whatever the case may be, there is a special feeling, and a transition in life, as you walk away from your high school for the last time. We hope that the Class of 2013 will accomplish all they have set out to do!
