Dear class of 2013, First, we would like to say that we admire

your perseverance; you made it through thirteen long years of school, and now the time has finally come where you can walk across the stage and turn the tassel. As your underclassmen, we’ve been obedient little puppies, following you through the halls, the younger sibling you cannot quite shake. But you’ve finally lost us; we can’t follow you to college or continue to take the blame for everything that’s wrong with the world. And although we have occasionally been your punching bags, we have also been your teammates, classmates, friends, and fans. As you start to make your way in the world, we’ll be here, taking over the roles that you left behind.

Good luck out there; you might not be able to hear us from the bleachers, but we’ll still be cheering for you, just like we always have. We want to thank you for all the lessons, however painful some of them might have been. You’ve taught us to never give up; in both academics and extracurriculars. Remember When?Heather Clark

Throughout the thirteen years we’ve been together, numerous memories come to mind when thinking of our experiences here at Van Buren. As we take a walk down memory lane, here are a few things that highlight our journey as students. Mentally check off what events you can remember, and for students that haven’t been here for all of these, take a look at what your fellow classmates have taken part in. A light bulb may pop over your head as you giggle at the remembrance of our past.

• 1. In kindergarten, we tackled each other to find the hidden person holding a letter.

• 2. We used to dress up for the 100th day of school!

• 3. At our 8th grade talent show, Mitchell Bayer and Brady Lucas sang their original song, “Water”, in honor of Mrs. Sawyer recognizing the water on our way to Washington D.C.

• 4. In 6th grade, sequin purses were the biggest trend, and almost every girl had one by her side.

• 5. As kids, we actually loved gym class. Some people couldn’t contain their excitement when Miss Breitigam would announce we were playing with the parachute.

• 6. At the end of the 9 weeks in middle school, we’d have Activity Day! Oh, the fret of Clean Jean determining that our hallway was the cleanest, to have the privilege to be able to choose our activities first.

• 7. The majority of the boys in our 8th grade class believed that speaking in a baby voice was the coolest thing in the world.

• 8. Mrs. Munsey, in her cute outfits and demand for a “thank you” after you reach into her candy box, would push her “That Was Easy” button during her lessons.

• 9. Our young eyes would flutter at the amazement of Mr. Lehman being a fabulous magician and principal at the same time.

• 10. In elementary school, we’d have Popcorn Friday! The smell of the delicious, buttery goodness would fill the hallways.

• 11. Our legs would ache after we trudged along in hopes of receiving that precious toe token after every mile we ran in gym class.

• 12. As freshmen, us girls gazed upon the beauty of Tyler Akers. Where have all the good men gone? #sorrynotsorry

• 13. We gathered in the auditorium for the magazine sale fundraiser and hoped our names would be drawn to enter the money machine.
