I applied for Regents,

Now What?

Once all application materials have been received an initial review

of the application file is conducted.

There are two outcomes to the initial review, ineligible or on-track

to receive an award.

Students are then notified by mail of the status of their application.

This notification is sent no later than May 1.

If the student is "on-track" for the scholarship s/he receives addi-

tional instructions to submit documentation to verify all require-

ments were in fact met.

Those documents are due July 1. The results of the final review

are typically mailed 6 weeks after the receipt of the final docu-

ments.

AP: Earning college credit while in high school.

Next Steps for College Freshmen! Make your decision and send in your commitment letter and

fee if needed.

Make sure you have applied for financial aid by applying online at fafsa.ed.gov and fill out any additional paperwork your

college might require.

Sign up for orientation as soon as possible after confirming

your admission. Most schools require all new students to

attend a registration/orientation session to register for clas-

ses. This could help get you priority to choose classes!

Secure housing if needed. If you want to live in on-campus

housing, apply as soon as possible. The sooner you apply for

housing, the better your chances of getting your choice of

residence.

Consider if you need to take any placement exams for cours-

es like English or Math. Some schools use your ACT/SAT

scores and others have their own required placement tests.

Submit a final transcript if your school requires it.

Register for an e-mail account at your school if that is availa-

ble and needed.

Pay any fees/tuition.

If your school has any immunization/health insurance require-

ments, send in the necessary paperwork.

Apply for a parking permit if needed, get a college ID card.

*** If you are deferring your college entrance for a mission or military service,

complete the steps above and then fill out your deferment papers.
