As part of the team, role holders will be responsible for the monitoring and resolution of IT and network related issues and queries.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in providing a high level of user support utilising an IT service desk based on ITIL principles and will play a key role in the delivery of a number of key IT projects.

The post holder will be based at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls but will be expected to travel occasionally to provide support to other schools and colleges within the Trust as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide an efficient IT support service to Altrincham Grammar School for Girls and each site of the school, which includes the BFET head office which is based in the grounds. This will include desktop, network and infrastructure support.

Contribute and maintain a process of IT incident call handling and escalation. Contribute to change management planning and coordination. Assist with the maintenance and support of all of the Trusts IT systems and infrastructure

when required.

Support local management and Head of IT in project implementation as well as the implementation and maintenance of trust IT standards and best practice.

Learn new technologies as appropriate and be prepared to take a leading role in the delivery of IT change and act as a line manager and mentor to junior members of the IT team.

The role will require occasional out of hours working. Any other duties as may be required by the Principal of AGGS or the Head of IT.

Person Specification

Essential Desirable

Relevant Experience, qualifications and training

Sound knowledge of:

Network Computing and IT support Computer, server installation, configuration and

maintenance experience. Helpdesk procedures and be comfortable supporting

a range of geographically spread IT users. LAN and WAN support, cabling and switch and

routing hardware. Network routing protocols particularly IP addressing

and general network switch and router configuration and troubleshooting.

Network security The range of Microsoft applications and operating

systems both in house and cloud hosted Experience dealing with third party service providers.

Microsoft or Cisco certification.Experience of virtualised environments. Familiar with O365 cloud based suite of applications and Azure.Experience of DR and data protection tools including Veam.Familiarity with MS SCCM and standard image management.MS Sharepoint administration

Knowledge, skills, abilities

Ability to manage own workload effectively. Excellent ICT skills including use of spreadsheet,

database and word processing applications. Ability to work as part of a team Good written and oral communication skills Proven organisational skills

Knowledge and awareness of the regulatory framework around education.

Other Self-motivated with a drive to complete tasks to the required time scales and quality standards.

Willingness to work outside of normal working hours on occasion

Flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands. Personal commitment to the school’s professional

standards and code of conduct. A commitment to further training and a willingness

to participate in relevant CPD. A positive approach to challenges, which seeks

solutions to problems and addresses difficulties with cheerfulness and good humour.

Salary: NJC scale 32-36 (£27,924 - £30,978) dependent upon experienceHolidays: 25 days holiday plus public holidays, increasing after 5 years’ service to 30 daysHours: 36.25 per week over 5 daysContract type: Permanent with a six month probationary periodPlace of work: Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, with flexibility to travel to and work from any BFET schoolPension: Local Government Pension scheme
