Residential Sustainable HomesteadSouth Kingstown, RI
is homestead is a dierent interpreta-tion on being sustainable. e two main goals are low impact and small footprint. ese goals are accomplished through a variety of methods. e rst is the size of the house. Being 2700 sq. ft. allows for a family of 4 to live comfortably. e footprint is small, with only 1700 sq. ft. foundation. e deck has been placed on the roof, in addition to a green roof. e green roof allows for less storm water runo, with the rest of the runo being focused into a rain garden. Over 75% of the plants chosen for the site are natives, which will help boost the local ecology and require less water. Building materials, including the fence, will be made out of renewable sources, like bamboo, and will be purchased locally. e home also includes a terraced vegetable garden on the north side and windows oriented to heat the home in the winter. Overall, the homestead has numerous elements that help reduce energy, locally and globally, while staying aordable for a home owner.

Muppet Labs: e RideLake Buena Vista, FL
is project was a entry in Disney’s ImagiNations Design Competition 2011. is project was a collaboration between four college students nation-wide for various disciplines.
Muppet Labs: e Ride is an immersive experience into the chaos that is e Muppets. Our adventure takes place in a new age science lab, currently being run by Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker. Inside, guests are taken on a tour to show o the project that is going to put the Muppets on the map; “What came rst, the chicken or the egg?”
Guests are captivated from the moment they approach the attraction. With controlled views of the façade and fountain, visitors are drawn into the building and embark on their scientic journey, or so they think. With larger then life bubbling instruments, guests can interact and engage with the com-puter systems that control the machines. Moving along, guests embark on their journey in a specially designed Muppet Labs vehicle, led by Dr. Bunsen Honey-dew, through the facility. With twists and turns, laughs and cries, the whole family can enjoy the Muppets in an all-new experience.

AIDS Memorial ParkNew York City, NY
Designed for NYC AIDS Memorial Park Design Competition with my brother, Adam Sell, this entry represents our connection to the community and our concepts that pay respect to the lives lost. e park was designed around three central themes: spirit, soul, and community.
e spirit of the park is the newly added vegetation and maple trees that line the perimeter. Moving with the wind and always growing and changing, these trees protect the park and watch over it’s visitors.
e soul of the park is the piano at the center. is stone sculpture is a reminder that music, throughout time, has been a unifying element, keeping the people together.
e community is in the stone fountain. Made of black granite, visitors can touch the water as it runs down. Each of it’s layers represents the dierent groups aected by the disease. From the gay community, to the families and friends, to the hospitals, the disease touched millions and this site will be a memorial for those to remember and celebrate the lives.
e stainless steel benches are silhou-ettes of the victims frozen in time. ey line the pathways that are mirrored o of the intersecting streets that surround the park.

Construction Details
e construction details shown here are from various studio projects. All were created in AutoCAD.
e Irrigation Plan is a design I created for e Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida during my internship. is is a parking lot area at their Ticket and Transportation Center, a central transportation hub for their property. I was given the task of sizing the pipes, picking the appropriate heads for the plant material and drawing up the construction documents for the project.
Hand and Computer Graphics
Shown here are a variety of graphics that I have produced for studios and design competitions. I used a variety of medi-ums, including colored pencils, markers, and ink. In addition to the hand rendered graphics are computer gener-ated images. ese were produced from a variety of methods, including Photo-shop, Illustrator, and SketchUp.
Art & Models
e artwork here was produced for multiple art studios, including Drawing I and 2-Dimensional Design. e pieces were created using a variety of mediums.
e sculptures were created for various design studios. ey are scaled replicas of work that would be included in the landscape.
e models were created to the help study and learn about the spaces. ey are both scaled and conceptual rendi-tions of the designs.
Photography
ese are photographs were taken with a Nikon D40 DSLR camera.

e two productions pictured here are recent shows in which I served as set designer, lighting designer, and sound designer. e production on top was a traveling competitive show. e design challenge presented to myself and my team was to create a set that could be set up and taken apart in under ve minutes and had to stay on a tight budget. e design goal of the other show, a large musical, was to create many playable areas and a tropical environment that the actors could perform on.
