A time unlike any other, a life unlike any other. But when I am gone what will I remember? With all my friends by my side and the memories they provide, for every-thing they have given have I returned back to them? I wish I could have. I only wish I could have. For all the countless hours that I spend in speculation and contemplation, I waste myself away in a slow recession deeper into the confines of my mind. For all of the useless ideals that I constantly seek in my dreams I overlook all that is before me, all that is real and what is constant. For the sake of love I allow myself to be broken, to be destroyed, to die and be reborn again to finally be able to understand this simple emotion. But during all this time that I have been in its pursuit, I had forgotten the fact that it has been with me all along. Love is not something to be found, it is something to be realized. What exactly have I realized? I am a fool. The answer one seeks is almost always right in front of him. But if you always end up where you begin, what is the point of making the journey? Obviously, the level of understanding you obtain influences the level of appreciation you adopt. But let me just tell you one thing, take a short-cut. Cherish now all those you love and all those that love you. It is as simple as that. Hap-piness doesn’t revolve around prospects of wealth and success. Happiness is the feeling you get when you smile uncontrollably for the people that hold significance in your life. I could spend another lifetime trying to compensate for my ignorance, but why would anyone waste the minuscule amount of time they have left with the people they value most? Life is all about the pursuit of happiness, and it has been these past six years at Whitney that I have realized what happiness truly is. If this were to be the only thing that I learn from this institution, then by all means it was worth it.
