HERE’S TO ANOTHER NEW YEAR!!

How many does this make for you? 60? 70? 80? 90?

What happens on that day?

You make a resolution, right? Or, you make many resolutions?

By now, we in our silver-haired years know that we can’t keep resolutions if we make too

many...nor that it should be just once a year..but that it should be made daily.

There is just ONE resolution I think we all should make daily. Thanking the good Lord for keeping us safe.

However, there is just ONE OTHER resolution that I feel most of us could afford to make and keep:

learn how to use our computers

go on the internet

subscribe to the many websites that are designed for the deaf

Never before have we had so many opportunities to learn right away what is happening out there with other deaf

people. We used to depend on the postal service. We used to depend on newspapers for the deaf (i.e. Silent News,

Sign News, Deaf American, N.F.S.D., and TDI).

Many organizations of and for the deaf have their own websites. I am listing those that I often check to learn about

what is happening. The first category is by subscription (meaning that you have to sign up for it.) The second

category is you check it out yourself.

Happy Hands Luncheon January 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM

The Happy Hands group will meet on January 8, instead of January 1.

Because of unpredictable weather, we will have Brown Bag luncheon.

We will provide unlimited Chili for $5.00 and dessert. After lunch, we

hope to have a presentation on how to keep yourself physically fit. If no

presentation, we will play Bingo. For more information, contact Bill

Center at [email protected].

FYI: If Fairfax County Government is closed due to weather (i.e., snow), NVRC will be closed too.

Bill’s Column

Something interesting to note about the astronomical signs or events in 2014-15…….

You probably remember seeing old headlines on Israel’s rebirth as a nation on May

14, 1948 and her victorious war for independence in 1948-49, and her recapture of

Jerusalem, her ancient city, during the Six-Day War in June 1967. Well, it’s

interesting to note that all those histories were related to the total lunar eclipse events

that rarely happened on the Jewish feast days (within 2 years in Israel) in 1949-50 and 1967-68. Historically,

those events were the sixth and seventh of the seven rarer occurrences since the Messiah’s time. Each

occurrence means that two total lunar eclipses known as blood moons happened on the feast days (Passover

and Sukkot) during one year and two more on the same feast days the year following in a row. When four

consecutive lunar eclipses are all total eclipses, the group is

known as a tetrad. The 8th occurrence of the tetrad will happen

in 2014-15. Also, a total solar eclipse will occur on the Jewish

New Year (1st of Nisan) in 2015. All this is very rare! There

won’t be any more occurrences until after 100 years later.

See interesting links below concerning the coming blood moons.

These include the dates of these moons.
