I am pleased to provide you with the Kooyong Seniors’ Guide.
Our local community depends on the wisdom and experience that seniors positively contribute each and every day. The guidance provided to current and future generations is vital to the continued development of our communities. Stories of hard work and sacrifice remind us that we must equally work hard to build upon the foundations set by older generations to continue to help make Australia a great, prosperous nation.
It is vital that our nation gives back to our Seniors through the provision of health care, respite and rehabilitation facilities, aged support and employment services; together with advice and assistance for self-funded retirees.
I am proud to represent you and your interests in Federal Parliament.
I hope the Kooyong Seniors’ Guide is of assistance in providing important details on available services in our local community and their contact information.
If you require any additional information or any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Josh Frydenberg MPFederal Member for Kooyong

Age PensionThe Age Pension helps support older Australians in retirement. If you meet the age and residence requirements, the amount of Age Pension you will receive depends on your income, assets and other factors.
If you receive the Age Pension you will automatically receive a Pensioner Concession Card, entitling you to reduced cost medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and various other concessions.
Commonwealth Seniors Health CardIf you have reached Age Pension age but do not qualify for a pension, you may qualify for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card. This entitles you to a range of concessions and discounts, including discounts on Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescription medicines.
Working past Age Pension ageIf you choose to work whilst receiving the Age Pension, the Work Bonus will allow you to increase the amount you can earn before your pension is reduced. If you receive eligible income from employment the Work Bonus will automatically be applied.
Pension Loans SchemeThe Pension Loans Scheme can help eligible part-rate age pensioners use capital tied up in real estate to provide an income top-up in the form of a loan, up to the maximum rate of the age pension. This can either apply for a short time or an indefinite period.
Further information about support available to older Australians from the Australian Government is available by calling 132 300 or online at www.humanservices.gov.au.
