IRDA in Nov 2015, launched a new guideline

• The policy is first to be adopted by Telangana and soon to spread to rest of India

• Motor policies are required to be issued in electronic format in addition to manual format

• Motor polices should have a QR code and this needs to be incorporated in Form51

• QR codes should allow verification of policy’s authenticity

• Users should have provision of scanning policy from mobile device and retrieving the policy from internet

• Insurance providers can setup self service portal for motor insurance where policies can be tracked and operated

• Electronic policies should be mobile friendly and can be downloadable to a mobile device

• Ability to map KYC process to the Electronic Insurance account and not asking the information repeatedly from the end customer

This guideline will soon hit mass adoption to other Insurance areas (life+ non life) as well as become a norm

• Insurance providers are in need to maintain all customer policy at a single place (Self service portal)• Policies should be downloadable and referenceable through mobile + online channels• Need for reducing frauds, tracking past histories of policy usages etc• Integrating with other policies of the customer (from other IR providers) and providing a single view• Transparency to Information covered in policy and what is not covered to keep end customer informed

• Backend connectivity to surveyor, dealer to provide real time information on damage
