13 DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT

The Universal Gas Sensors are intended to monitor combustible gases. They comprise a detector head assembly and a junction box. The detector head assembly has three variants: the HC Detector Head; the HC Hi-Temp Detector Head; the H2S Detector Head. All the detector head assembly variants utilise the same enclosure with only the internal components and arrangement differing. The sensor heads are manufactured from stainless steel and are cylindrical in shape with a hexagonal shoulder in the middle. The front end of the sensor head enclosure has a 250 μm sinter fused into its walls to allow penetration of the surrounding atmosphere and the appropriate presence of the relevant gas to be detected. The rear end of the sensor head contains Stycast 2850 FT Catalyst 11 setting compound through which the equipment wiring passes. The rear end of the sensor head also has a male ¾”-14 NPT thread-form to allow the sensor head to be mounted into a GB range component approved increased safety junction box manufactured by Bartec. The junction box contains an MK6.6 component approved increased safety terminal block manufactured by Klippon Microsystems.

Design options

Alternative setting compound: The HC Hi-Temp Detector Head Assembly utilises Stycast 2762 Catalyst

17. Alternative terminals: The HC Hi-Temp Detector Head Assembly utilises Type Ker-Ex

component approved increased safety terminals manufactured by Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co.

Alternative junction box: The HC Hi-Temp Detector Head Assemblies utilises a 07-5180

component approved increased safety junction box manufactured by Bartec.

Variation 1 - This variation introduced the following changes:

i. To permit the introduction of minor drawing modifications that include additional information

that is relevant to other approvals.

Variation 2 - This variation introduced the following changes:

i. To permit the removal of entry hole options M25 ISO x 1.5 and PG13.5 from the machined Hi-Temp Junction Box.

Variation 3 - This variation introduced the following changes:

i. The recognition of a drawing replacement to correct a typographical error, drawing number

B13-021 shall be replaced by drawing number B13-022.
