The stationary pyrometer of thetype R271 is suitable for the con-tactless temperature measurementat high ambient temperatures.
This technology is very favourableas the sensor can be mountednear the measured object. No cool-ing of the sensor is required.In the system technology no open-ings and cross-flow blowers arerequired. This results in a signifi-cant cost reduction.The contact-free measuring princi-ple makes especially sense if themeasured object either has a lowheat conductivity or is in movementor if a quick measurement is re-quired.
This results in a variety of applica-tions such as:continuous furnaces for lacquer dry-ing, textile and paper drying etc.
The quite small design of themeasuring head permits the mount-ing even under extremely narrowspace conditions
A silicon window tightly seals theoptical system against the environ-ment.
The connection cable of the sensoris also suitable for high ambienttemperatures and is protectedagainst damages by means of acorrugated pipe.
Communication takes place viaHART protocol.

Thermophil INFRAht R 310 / R 311 / R 312 / R 320
The INFRAht R 310/311/312/320 family comprises stationary pyrometers with a remote transmitter for contactless measurement of temperature. This technique is a big advantage, for example, if the object to be measured moves or is live. The contactless measuring principle also makes sense if the measured object is a poor conductor of heat (e.g. plastic films or paper) or if the measurement has to be completed quickly. This results in a very broad range of applications, such as: x Thermoforming machines for plas-
tics, x Extruders for plastics, x Calandering lines for plastic films, x Coating machines, x Glassworking, x Metalworking, x Supervision of products on con-
veyor belts, x Monitoring of plant overheating, etc. With the R 311 and R 312 types, the infrared radiation is focused on the sensing element by a lens. The R 310 and R 320 types work with a high-gloss, gold-plated cone.
The pyrometers are extremely com-pact and connected to the transmitter by a teflon cable. Cooling systems are available for ambient temperatures higher than 125 C. An air purging nozzle can be supplied for dusty or damp environments to keep the lens or the cone clean. Fixing brackets and other accessories are also available. The INFRA TR 40 and TR 41 trans-mitters integrate the evaluation elec-tronics for the INFRA sensor heads in the INFRAht family (R 310/311/312/320). They feature an analogue two-wire interface (420 mA). Communication is controlled by a HART protocol. The transmitters can be used at am-bient temperatures up to 70 C. The TR 40 transmitter is accommo-dated in sturdy die-cast aluminium housing and has no operator controls or displays. The TR 41 transmitter is supplied in a plastic housing. It includes an LC display and a configuration keyboard.

higher than 70 C. An air purging nozzle can be sup-plied for dusty or damp environ-ments to keep the lens or the cone clean. Fixing brackets and various other accessories are also available.
