Developed for the anti-block braking system, wheel speed sensors send information to many

on-board electronic systems. The rotational speed of the wheels is transmitted from the

sensor to the control unit and from there to the transmission, engine, navigation and chassis

control systems. This data is essential for ABS, ASR and ESP, to prevent blocking or wheel

spin.

Due to their versatile use, the sensors make a direct contribution to driving dynamics and

safety. Moreover, driving comfort can be improved, fuel consumption reduced and emission

levels decreased.

Failure of the wheel speed sensors means an acute safety risk! The cause may be electrical or

mechanical disruption, for example increased wheel bearing play, a broken wire or a corroded

plug contact.
