SensoruSensoru is a chair with heart rate sensors placed on the armrests. As the heart rate changes, so will the mood of the show. This will be apparent through the lighting, which will subtly change (not too drastic, as to avoid distracting the show or cast member). Each show would have a pre set palette of lights (color) to enhance the specific experience it is aiming to evoke.

Heart rate sensors will be located on the armrests of each audience member’s chair. They will be visible in a way, which will pro-mote the audience to place their hands on them. The sensors will measure a collection of the audience’s heart rate and then be trans-lated into an audiovisual experience using lights and projections on the ceiling. By using the sensors each show will adapt to fit the mood and emotion the audience is feeling.

Touch-feelMassaging mechanism
The chair will also come equip with message motors in them that will be used to enhance the show. Movements in the back of the seat can be used to jolt the individual at particular moments. An example of this would be creat-ing a jolt during the show Varakai, when Lcarus falls to the ground. The motion in the seat would help give the audience a sense of the impact. The chair would also be manipulated so that the motors could give the sensation of something being brushed up against the indi-vidual audience member. In a way this would create a sense that there are more creatures than what is being seen on stage.

Touch-feelHeating and cooling
Heating and cooling would be a key compo-
nent to the chair. Temperature would be used
to convey the atmosphere of the show. For
example, in the show Varekai, the seats could
become warmer while Lcarus is flying too
close to the sun. Also as the heart rate rises,
so would the temperature.
Humor is another great way to get the audi-
ence more involved with a show. For example,
if the clowns jump on the chair, the audience
feels the jump simultaneously. Any actions that
the clown does on stage is exaggerated and
presented through the chair in some form.
So sight is translated into touch - feel, sound,
and smell. We want to stress this back and
forth interaction so that the chair completely
enhances the audiences experience.

Soundsound can be used by placing speakers within
and around the chairs. As the sound becomes
louder, and faster the heart rate will rise. As
the sound becomes quiet, and slow the heart
rate will drop. In specific shows sound can
be used to make the audience feel as though
there are creatures directly behind or near
them. For example, a show placed in the
jungle would use sounds of insects and other
creatures.

SmellSmell can be incorporated into the show by having
vents, which are located around the chairs of the
audience. Small amounts can be released at key
moments, which will allow the audience to feel
as though they are in the center of show and
action. For example, scents such as flowers and
humidity can be released in jungle shows. Smell is
a key sense in which people remember their past;
so incorporating sound is essential in creating a
memorable show.
