The second session was on 'Facilitation process of teacher in higher education' which was guided by speaker Mr Cleophas college and to live up to the expectations of the institution. Director Fr. Arockiasamy and Principal Prof. Usha Priyadarshini congratulated the leaders and encouraged them to deliver their duties to the best of their abilities. Workshop on Value Added Program was conducted for the degree students on 17th August 2016 at St. Vincent Pallotti College. The main purpose of the workshop was to familiarise the students with the importance of value added programs. The session was conducted by Mr. Rajan, Founder and CEO, Par Brilliance Academy. It was a great learning session for the students and they were given an opportunity to interact with the resource person for further information.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day celebration was collaborated with annual sports meet felicitation on 15th August 2016.The Guest of Honour, Group Captain P Eshwara Rao, hoisted the national flag.He inspired the students with his motivational speech and advised the students

to become an ideal citizen of the country. The students participated in several cultural events with great enthusiasm. The day also witnessed the prize distribution for the winners of Annual Sports Meet 2016-17.

Workshop on Value Added Program (VAP)

The college organized a seminar on 'gender sensitization' on 18th August 2016 for all the degree students. The guest speaker of the day was Dr. Deepa B M, HOD, Genetics in IADC Reviewer for National and International Journal. The purpose of the seminar was to identify and analyse the stereotypes associated with genders. The students actively participated in the discussion and shared their opinions.

Leadership Training Program was organised for the Student council members on 25th August 2016. Mr Sam Joshua Kingsley, Director, Centre for Professional Excellence IAGI, addressed the council members and provided them with the knowledge of competencies of leadership.

Life Skill training program was organised for degree students on 26th August 2016. Mr Cleophas David, Life Coach, PROBIZ was the resource person. He enlightened the students about the importance of personality development and personal grooming. The students interacted enthusiastically and benefited from the session.

On 27th August 2016, the students voluntarily joined together and started the Pallottine Youth Fellowship where they meet every week on Friday at 3 pm. The fellowship includes activities like singing Christian spiritual songs, meditating on the scriptures from the Holy Bible, quiz etc.

The students added more excitement to the program by conducting series of cultural events and games for the teachers.

Teacher's Day Celebration

Teacher's day at St. Vincent Pallotti College was celebrated on 6th September 2016 with full zeal and enthusiasm. The faculty members were honoured by Fr. Arockiasamy, Director and Prof. Usha Priyadarshini, Principal, for their dedication and commitment.

Radio Mirchi organized 'Talent Hunt' for the students on 15th September 2016 at St. Vincent Pallotti College. This platform provided an opportunity for the students to showcase their skills and hidden talents. Many students came forward to exhibit their talents and the best performers bagged the prizes from Radio Mirchi.

Career Counselling

St. Vincent Pallotti College in association with TIME Institute organized a career counselling session for the degree students on 28th September 2016. The eminent speakers for the day were Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi (Manager, TIME), Yuvara (Centre Manager, TIME) and Julius Tongbram (Manager, Business Development). The session threw light on various aspects of career choices

which included an interesting and refreshing interaction with the resource persons and students.

The college arranged a two days industrial trip on 15th and 16th of October 2016 for the degree students. The main purpose of this industrial visit was to provide the students with the basic knowledge of internal w o r k i n g o f v a r i o u s organizations. The trip included

industries like Lazza Ice Cream, Kumbalgodu and NSL Sugar Factory, Maddur. The officials of the organizations guided the students and provided them with all the technical details. This experience provided the students an exposure to industrial life.

St. Vincent Pallotti College hosted a Fresher's welcome party on 13th August 2016 to welcome the fresh batch of first year PUC and Degree students for the academic year 2016-17. It was a day filled with excitement, music, laughter and happiness. Director Fr. Arockiasamy and Principal Prof. Usha Priyadarshini welcomed the new comers to Pallottine family and conveyed their wishes for a bright future. The cool seniors put up various performances and also organised spot games for the freshers . The day was marked as a memorable day in the life of every fresher at St. Vincent Pallotti College.

Milestone

A counselling session on 'Girl Talk' was organized only for the girls on 2nd December 2016 in the seminar hall. The session was conducted by Nicole and Team from FGAG. The main purpose of the session was to help the young girls to cope up with the changes that

happen during the adolescent years. It was a great opportunity for the girls to share their feelings and problems with the team.

Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated on 30th November 2016 with great vigour and grandeur at St.Vincent Pallotti College. The honourable chief Guest Dr.Dominic, Assistant Professor, Bangalore University was invited for this occasion. In his speech he emphasized about the beauty of Karnataka and Kannada language. The students of St. Vincent Pallotti College gave tribute to Kannada Nadu and Nudi with their delightful performances which captured the spirit of the day.

Sparsh 2016- 'A Touch Of Art', a two day intra collegiate cultural fest saw vibrant students of PUC and Degree participating in various competitions. The fest was held on 22nd and 23rd of December 2016. The Director, Fr. Arockiasamy and Principal, Prof. Usha Priyadarshini presided over the function. They appreciated the students for their excellent coordination and efforts in organizing SPARSH -2016. They motivated the students to utilize the platform to give out the best in them. Various events such as Group/Solo Dancing, Group/Solo Singing, Beat Boxing, Collage, Gaming, Treasure Hunt, Rangoli, Pencil Sketching Mobile photography, Best out of waste, Vegetable Carving etc. were held at different venues at college campus. Over the two days, on-stage and off-stage events witnessed active participation from students. The best performers bagged the trophies home.

The Commerce club “BRAVADO” was officially inaugurated by C. T Ranganath. HOD, Department of Commerce, Don Bosco College on 9th August 2016. The chief guest addressed the students about various aspects like-banking, Indian economy and career opportunities. The main objective of 'BRAVADO' is to equip the students with skills and techniques to act as 'Enterprise' for the future generation. He appreciated the management and the students for their initiative and efforts.

Commerce club 'BRAVADO' organized a guest lecture for the undergraduate students on 29th July 2016. The session was headed by Ms. Maria Jose, Resource person for Financial Education from BSE. The session provided more insight to the field of stock exchange functioning.

The Department of Commerce and Management organized collage competition for the I & II PUC Commerce students on the theme 'Save Environment'. The students actively participated and the best three collage posters were selected for award of the prize.

As a part of science club 'RDX', the department of science organized science exhibition and food fest on 14th December 2016. The exhibits were indeed an eye opener on various topics related to mini CPU, water level indicator, respiratory system, touch alarm and robotics.

Food fest was also organized by the students of Science department where they were asked to prepare different food items and market the same. The Director Fr. Arockiasamy and Principal Prof. Usha Priyadarshini applauded for their novel ideas and creativity.

DEPARTMENT OF ARTSArts Club Inauguration and Guest Lecture on 'De-addiction’

Department of Arts and Humanities, St. Vincent Pallotti College organized the inaugural function of the Arts Club 'CRIADOR' on 8th July 2016. The Arts Club 'CRIADOR' (means the creator/to create) -strives to enrich and empower the students with academic and technical excellence. The Chief guest Dr. Gambetta Da Costa, Psychiatrist, graced the occasion. Dr. Gambo appreciated the management, faculty members and the students for their efforts to do something beyond the class room learning. He also addressed the students on the topic 'De-Addiction' and inspired the students through his speech.

One of the country's biggest gospel musical festival 'Fresh fire 2016' organized by Sanctuary Music was held on 20th November 2016 at St.Vincent Pallotti College ground. The concert featured 12 of Bengaluru's best choir and gospel band and Pallottine band 'Glory Bounds' was one among them performing for the first time in an international concert.

Science Club Inauguration

The Science Club "RDX” (Research And Development To The Extreme) of St.Vincent Pallotti College was inaugurated on 11th August 2016, at 10:00 am in the seminar hall. Chief Guests Mr.John Bosco Prabhu and Mr.Anthony V inaugurated the science Club. The students of I & II PUC Science and BCA (UG) attended the inaugural function. Chief guests Dr. Anthony V and Mr. John Bosco Prabhu motivated the students to actively participate in all activities.

Seminar on 'The Role of Media in Today's World'

The Arts Club 'Criador' organized a seminar for the students of Arts on the topic 'The role of media in today's world' on 15th July 2016. The guest for the day was Mr. Nibin Nelson, who has worked as Crime Reporter (News 9) and Promo Producer (Radio Mirchi 98.3). He delivered his speech on basic importance of journalism and the changing face of the media. The seminar mostly constituted interactive sessions, where the students shared their opinions.

Guest Lecture on 'Introduction to Counselling Psychology'

On 23rd July 2016, a guest lecture was organized by the Arts Club 'Criador', for the arts students on the topic 'Introduction to Counselling Psychology'. The Lecture was delivered by Ms. Andrea Valles Mata, Psychologist and counsellor. The main objective was to enable the students to gain knowledge of basic psychological process and dysfunctional behaviors. She also spoke about the importance of counselling techniques in the family, educational and organizational settings.

Seminar on 'Stress Management and Suicide prevention'

As a part of club activity, the department of Arts and Humanities organized a seminar on 'Stress Management and Suicide Prevention for the students on 19th August 2016. The seminar was conducted by Bangalore Multipurpose Social Service Society (BMSS) in collaboration with Kincemissionwerk, Germany. The speaker of the day was Mr. Xavier, who is presently working as a counsellor. The main purpose was to enable the students understand stress management strategies to deal with stressful situation in a better way. The seminar also discussed about the relationship between stress and suicide. It also helped the students to understand how to recognize suicidal behaviour, how to respond appropriately to potentially suicidal individuals and where to find help.

Workshop on 'Yoga and Mental Well Being'

With the aim to enable the students understand the importance of Yoga, Arts club 'Criador' organized a workshop for the students of Arts on 30th September 2016. The workshop on 'Yoga and Mental Well Being' was conducted by Acharya Arun Prakash, founder of Jeevana Yoga. The speaker explained how to help improve the life style, self-esteem and positive attitude through Yoga practice. He also taught students some techniques and tips to eliminate stress, anxiety and depression.

Workshop on 'Rights of Transgender'

Department of Arts and Humanities, St. Vincent Pallotti College hosted a workshop for the PUC and degree students on 'Rights of Transgender' on 18th October 2016. The aim of the work shop was to provide the participants a better understanding about Trans people and the challenges they face. The eminent speaker Dr. Akkai Padmashali, transgender activist, discussed about the inner struggles and bitter experiences they face everyday when exposed to parents and society. Other speakers Ms. Rakshitha and Ms. Poojitha shared their challenging life experiences and the ways in which they overcame the hurdles. It was an inspiring and thought provoking session which received an overwhelming response from all the participants.

Educational and Social Service Trip

An educational and social service trip was arranged on the 1st of September, 2016 by the Department of Arts, St.Vincent Pallotti College. The students and staff of the arts department joined their hands together to provide cost-effective care for the needy. On 1st September they visited Karunashraya Cancer Home, Swanthana Home and Sneha Care Home. The main objective was to encourage students to practice social work to serve the community in a better way.
