In MemoryIt was with deep sadness this past spring that the Chattanooga

Theatre Centre family marked the passing of Thomas Alford, a

dedicated CTC volunteer for more than 30 years. Thomas saw no

need here as too big or too small, whether that was serving as board

president, appearing on stage, volunteering backstage, or working the

parking lot. He was a gracious friend to this theatre, and we humbly dedicate the 2018-2019 season to him.

ELEANOR AIKEN (Nun, Bowery Beauty) is delighted to be back on the CTC stage. Favorite credits include Anything Goes (Hope), The Foreigner (Cather-ine), Chicago (Annie), Legally Blonde (Delta Nu), The Producers (Usherette), The Graduate (Elaine), and Rent (Ensemble). She would like to thank her parents, Moly, the good girl and Petunia for all of their love and support. She also wants to thank the Newsies production team for making this a wonderful

experience! Seize the day!

HUNTER BOLTON (Bill, Oscar Delancey) is making his CTC debut. He is 15 years old, is attending STEM as a junior, and takes classes at Chattanooga State.

LIZ BRASHIER (Sniper, Scab) has been performing since she was six in the Chattanooga area but is ecstatic to be making her CTC debut. Previous credits include The Addams Family (Wednesday), Pippin (Catherine), Godspell (Ann Marie), Hairspray (Tammy), and West Side Story (Graziella/Dance Captain). Liz is a sophomore at Dalton State College where she is currently studying histo-ry. She would like to thank the creative team for giving her the opportunity to

perform in one of her favorite shows and her sister for inspiring her daily. Enjoy the show!

NORMAND CAISSIE (Jack Kelly) is a 2014 GHP Theatre and Vocal Performance alumnus of Valdosta State University and is thrilled to be making his CTC de-but! He most recently was seen as Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga. Other recent theatre credits include Next to Normal (Gabe), Hairspray (Link Larkin), Spring Awakening (Moritz), South Pacific (Professor), Spitfire Grill (Joe Sutter),

and Godspell (Jesus). A certified specialist in social media marketing from Northwestern University, Normand also works as the Director of Marketing for DK Real Estate & Property Management, in Ringgold, GA.

FRANLLER CASTELLANO (Ike) is extremely excited to be making his CTC debut. He started doing theater in high school. Some credits include Bye, Bye, Birdie (Ringgold High School), The Little Mermaid (Dalton High School), and Guys and Dolls (Artistic Center Theatre, Dalton).

ALEX CHAMPION (Les) attends CSAS and has been in past CTC shows includ-ing The 3 Sillys, Charlie Brown Christmas, The Tailor of Gloucester, and Pan-dora’s Box. His hobbies are swimming, climbing, and watching movies with his family. “I’m thankful for my mom because she made the costumes for this show and because she always makes me smile.”

DREW CHAMPION (Mush) is very excited to be a part of this cast and would like to thank his directors and his loving parents for this opportunity. CTC credits include Fiddler on the Roof, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Beauty and the Beast. Other credits include Pippin and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at CCA.

MEET THE CAST | NEWSIES

BEN DeWITT (Romeo) is a 9th grade student at CCA where he majors in musical theatre. Ben is thrilled to be playing the role of Romeo. This will be his 14th stage production. A few of his favorites include A Christmas Story, School of Rock, and Pip-pin. When he’s not performing in shows, Ben enjoys traveling, hiking, and watching “The Office.”

KYLA DOWNS (Elmer) is 16 years old and attends Chattanooga Christian School. Fa-vorite credits include Beauty and the Beast, Crazy for You, and Meet Me in St. Louis (CCS), which won Best Show in the State of Tennessee at the 2018 Spotlight Awards. When not on stage, Kyla enjoys playing piano and oboe, dancing, and singing in her church and school choirs. She would like to thank Ms. Katherine for being such an encouraging director and everyone else on the creative team for their hard work

and dedication to this show. She would also like to thank her parents for their constant support and God for giving her the talent that she is able to share with everyone tonight. Enjoy the show!

ROBERT DOWNS (Hot Shot) is 14 years old and attends Chattanooga Christian School. Some of his favorite musicals he has been in include Peter Pan Jr. (Captain Hook) and Crazy for You (Lank), among many others. Robert enjoys doing gymnas-tics, playing the piano and baritone, singing in his church choir, and playing video games. He would like to thank Ms. Katherine for always motivating us and all of the others who worked on the show for their hard work in helping create it. He also

would like to thank his parents for all their encouragement and for driving him out to CTC every day. Finally, he’d like to thank God for giving him all the talent that he will show you on the stage tonight.

JACK HALEY (Jo Jo) is excited to be making his debut at CTC. A junior at Dalton High School, Jack has been performing on stage since the age of four. Favorite credits in-clude Judas in Godspell Jr., the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, and the Frog in Honk Jr. Jack recently attended the FSU Musical Theater Summer Intensive where he showcased a monologue from “She Kills Monsters” and performed “Bitch of Living” from Spring Awakening and “Revolting Children” from Matilda.

AYMAN HANDAL (Morris Delancey, Mayor) is a physics and computer science double major with a minor in music at an obscure college in Iowa. His guilty pleasure is listen-ing to and singing insane amounts of Frank Sinatra. Throughout life, he has found so-lace and excitement from theatre and singing. He tries to do both as much as possible while playing unhealthy amounts Ultimate Frisbee and semi-pro League of Legends. As anyone can tell, he’s a pretty big nerd, but he is excited to thank all for coming to such

an amazing production and the amazing opportunity he was given to be a part of it.

REBEKAH HILDEBRANDT (Finch) is thrilled to be back on the CTC stage for her fourth show. She has been performing in both theater and dance productions since age six. Her dance training spans a variety of styles, with heavy emphasis on ballet. Favorite performances include Les Miserables, West Side Story, Macbeth, and the ballet La Bayadere. This is her first musical in a decade. She was last seen in The Mysterious Affair at Styles here at the CTC. Rebekah works as a writer and as manager of the

volunteer program at Bridge Refugee Services. She would like to thank the creative team of Newsies for giving her the opportunity to be in this wonderful production.

SARAH BETH HUMPHREY (Tommy Boy, Scab) is 15 years old and home-schooled. She loves theater and has participated in many productions such as Anne of Green Gables, Narnia, and Goodnight Moon. This is her first time performing with CTC. Newsies is her all-time favorite musical and she is so excited to play Tommy Boy. Sarah Beth has danced at Tempo Dance Center for five years. She would like to thank her mom for driving her to every rehearsal and cheering her on since day one. She is

so happy to be a part of this amazing cast and hopes you enjoy the show!

NOAH HUSEMAN (Race) is in his senior year at CCA as a musical theatre major. This is his second CTC show, but he has been singing and dancing since he was six years old. He was most recently seen at CTC in A Christmas Story. This past sum-mer, Noah was Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Stagedoor Manor. Noah is the piano player for the CCA Jazz Band and is hoping to study music at MTSU next year. He thanks his mother for keeping his schedule

straight and reminding him to get to all his rehearsals on time.

ZACHARY HUSEMAN (Specs) is a musical theatre major in the ninth grade at CCA. This is Zachary’s fifth CTC show, but he has been singing and dancing since he was six years old. He was most recently seen here as Stanley in Beauty and the Beast. Zacha-ry has been performing with the CTC Summer Musical Academy for the last six years. This past summer, he was a featured ensemble member in the cast of Mary Poppins at Stagedoor Manor. In addition to acting, he also studies voice with Dr. Jennifer

Arbogast Wilson. Zachary would like to thank his mom for getting him everywhere on time.

LEVI JONES (Vince, Myron) is thrilled to be making his CTC debut. He is a junior at Soddy-Daisy High School where he is a part of the Forensics acting team. He would like to thank his family and his theater teacher, Lucy Boydston, for supporting him in being a part of this show. Newsies is Levi’s favorite musical, and he is excited that it is his first major show.

OLIVIA KELLY (Midge) is a ninth grade musical theatre major at CCA, where she is a Choo Choo Kid. At CCA, she most recently performed in Once on this Island (Asaka). Olivia is happy to be returning to CTC, where she has previously been seen in Miracle on 34th Street and two seasons of A Christmas Story, as well as Miss Nelson Is Missing (Lavita) with the Youth Theatre. Other credits include Addams Family, Matilda, Annie (CFT), and Beauty and the Beast (CDE). Olivia would like to

thank her mum for “freaking everything, for always being there to support me, love me and en-couraging me to be me,” Katherine for giving her the opportunity to be in Newsies, and her sister Tess for being an awesome sister and staying up to welcome her home after rehearsals.

TRIPP LADD (Weisel, Jacobi, Snyder) is a graduate of the Chattanooga State PATP. Favorite credits include Front Page, Boys Life, Wizard of Oz, Addams Family, Secret Garden, Zap!, 12 Angry Men, Uncle Phil’s Diner, and Into The Woods. He has had a blast with Newsies and can’t wait to start the next!

ALEAH LARSON (Woman) is delighted to be a part of one of her favorite shows at one of her favorite theaters. If not on stage, Aleah can be found backstage waiting for her cue. Favorite credits include Christian Family Theater’s The Audition and seven productions at CTC, including The BFG and The Wiz (not to mention 12 separate day camps). She won the Crew Member of the Year Award at the 2018 Sonia Young Awards and the Bear Hugger Award at CFT’s “The Audition” Paper

Plate Awards. Aleah would like to thank Katherine Michelle Tanner for inviting her to be a part of this show, as well as her parents for driving two hours to get her to CTC and back, although rarely before dinner.

VINCENT LEMMONS (Cop, Guard) is very excited to be making his onstage debut after recently working backstage for the amazing productions of Hello Dolly, Beau-ty and the Beast, and A Room with a View. He is very grateful for the opportunity to volunteer his time at this beautiful theater with the talented staff and other volunteers.

VIVIAN LONG (Nun, Bowery Beauty) is a high school junior and thrilled to be making her theater debut in Newsies. She has spent several years training ex-tensively in dance of all styles,and has recently begun her theater training with a focus on musical theater. Vivian is a huge Disney fan and is proud to be a part of one of her favorite musicals. A special thank you to all of her family and friends for their continued support.

WILL LOWERY (Davey) is a freshman at UTC pursuing a vocal performance degree and is making his CTC debut. Born and raised in Memphis, Will developed his passion for music and musical theatre. Some of his favorite Theatre Memphis credits include 42nd Street (dance captain/ ensemble), Shrek (Mad Hatter), The Producers, Anything Goes, and Beauty and the Beast. Other credits include Cur-tains (Aaron Fox), 42nd Street (Billy Lawlor), and Our Town (Charlie Webb). Will

would like to thank CTC, Katherine, Michael, and Andrew for this opportunity and making him feel at home in this new chapter in his life! “Love ya, Mom and Dad (and Kell)!”

NICK LYLES (Albert) is thrilled to be a part of Newsies. Previous CTC credits in-clude A Christmas Story and Miracle on 34th Street. Nick is a senior at CCA, which he has attended since sixth grade. Past roles include the Leading Player in Pippin, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Jimmy in Thor-oughly Modern Millie. Nick would like to dedicate his performance to his parents, Kenny and Dori Lyles, for always investing their love and time into everything

he does and for sending him to Stagedoor Manor in New York this past summer, where he was Angel in Rent. Nick plans to get his B.F.A. in Musical Theater when he attends college next fall.

AUSTIN MASSEY (Crutchie) is proud to be playing the role of Crutchie in his CTC debut. Austin is 19 and currently enrolled in the Professional Actor Training Pro-gram at Chattanooga State. He most recently played Donkey in Shrek the Musical, ensemble in Into the Woods, and Simeon in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Austin would like to thank his family and friends for supporting him, and he is excited to see what show he’ll do next!

KARLEY MOON (Smalls) is thrilled to be in her seventh mainstage stage show here at the CTC! Favorites here include The Producers, Anything Goes, Hairspray, The Wizard of Oz, Edwin Drood, and The Music Man. Favorite roles elsewhere include Mary in The Secret Garden, Clara in Nutcracker Christmas Carol, JoJo in Seussical, and Beth in Little Women. She is a graduate of CCA where she was a musical theatre major and performed with Choo Choo Kids, a graduate of the

Professional Actors Training Program at Chattanooga State, and will be graduating from Dalton State with a Bachelor’s in Social Work this May. She studied dance at Broadway Dance Center for three years in NYC. She would like to thank her family, friends, and teachers for their love and support over the years.

DENNIS PARKER (Nunzio, Governor Roosevelt) is making his CTC debut while simultaneously making a theatre widow out of his wife, Ann, and theatre orphans out of his kids, Ryan and Olivia. He cannot thank his family enough for their sup-port and allowing him to play an icon of American history. Recent credits include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Signal Mountain Playhouse), Dearly Departed, and ten different characters in Greater Tuna (also at SMPH), which earned him a Broadway

World nomination for Best Actor. Past credits include a prison guard in the John Waters cult film, Cry Baby, along with two years of stand-up comedy in the Northeast including appearances in New York, Boston, and Montreal. Dennis currently serves on the Signal Mountain Playhouse board and works for WRCB. Lastly, Dennis would like to thank his esteemed director, Katherine, and amazingly talented cast who have busted hump to bring a thoughtful and lively production to the stage.

IAN PARTEN (Darcy, Kenny) is a high school junior, and Newsies is his fourth show at CTC. Other CTC credits include Dick in Beauty and the Beast, Tigger in House at Pooh Corner, and ensemble in Hello Dolly! Other credits include Willy Wonka (Sig-nal Mountain Playhouse), Bye Bye, Birdie (Signal Mountain High School), Murder in the Dark and The Cat Bell (CTC’s Musical Theatre Academy). Ian won a Sonia Young Award of Excellence. Ian’s thanks go out to his family and friends, who have persistently supported him in his theatre career.

ACADIA PHILLIPS (Buttons) is a seventh grader at CCA and is ecstatic to be in her fifth show at CTC. Previous CTC credits include Really Rosie, Miracle on 34th Street, A Year With Frog and Toad, and The BFG. Other credits include Peter Pan Jr., Seussi-cal Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., The Lion King Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., The School of Rock, and Mary Poppins Jr. Acadia would like to thank Katherine, Andrew, Michael, Rie, Tia, Angie, and the rest of her cast for believing in her and helping her to grow

as an actress. Remember that “proud and defiant, we’ll slay the giant!” She hopes you enjoy this amazing show as much as she enjoys performing in it!

GENNA RABORN (Hannah) is a home-schooled student going into 11th grade. This fall, she will attend Chattanooga State, taking classes towards her associate’s degree in psychology. Genna is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Since moving to Chatta-nooga, she has been blessed to find CTC, where she has appeared in Beauty and the Beast, A Year With Frog and Toad, and Hello, Dolly! She would like to thank her family for all of the support, including those traveling many hours to come see her perform.

LAUREN RAYHAB (Runyan) is thrilled to be appearing in her ninth production with CTC since 2015. Favorite CTC roles include A Midsummer Night’s Disco (Flute), Fiddler on the Roof (Chava), and Spamalot (Laker Girl). Other credits include Les Miserables, West Side Story (Maria), and The 25th Annual...Spelling Bee (Rona). A Nashville native and UTC alumna, she would like to thank the creative team, cast, crew, and CTC for making Chattanooga a wonderful place to call her second home.

EMILY ROLLINS (Mike) has been training to become a triple threat her entire life and is a protégé to many of the top working choreographers in the country, starring in music videos and traveling the country on tour. Emily is SAG eligible and her work includes the feature film, Unconditional, and commercial/industrials for brands such as Cracker Barrel, Pilot Travel Centers, Pigeon Forge Tourism, Drop Dead Diva, and the Reality Docu-Series “Dancin’ the Dream.” She is a sophomore at

CCA majoring in musical theatre and a member of Choo Choo Kids. She feels blessed to be making her CTC debut in Newsies.

HANNAH ROLLINS (Henry) is a senior at Collegiate High and is honored to be in her first CTC show. Hannah has danced on award shows and in music videos, assisted numerous dance conventions across the country, and performed as a backup danc-er for multiple artists in concert, including Janet Jackson. Hannah has absolutely loved her time working on this production, and she plans to further pursue her passion for musical theatre in college.

JASON RUSSELL (Seitz, Bunsen, Stage Manager) is honored to be allowed to perform on the CTC stage once again. This is his second year with CTC, having previ-ously appeared as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast and Grempkin/Fighting Prawn in Peter and the Starcatcher. Previous credits include Oliver!, Cotton Patch Gospel, and The Crucible at Lee University. He also performed professionally at Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA, and served as their Show Run Manager in Branson,

MO. Jason serves as National Director for the U.S. Academic Bee and Bowl, is a proud Air Force veteran, and loves his church family at City Church. He is the father of four amazing children (and two beautiful daughters-in-law) with his lovely wife, Mary, and is excited to perform in Newsies alongside one of them.

RIPKEN RUSSELL (Spot Conlon) is a senior at CCA and made his CTC debut last season in Beauty and the Beast. He began his theatre career at the age of nine, working professionally in Branson, MO, in Sight and Sound Theatre’s productions of Joseph and Jonah. He spent two years as an acting major at CCA, where he performed in Bamboozled!, Salt and Pepper, and The Shoemaker and the Elves. He enjoys film, art, philosophy, and meaningful conversation.

KIMBERLY RYE (Katherine Plumber) is overjoyed to return to the mainstage in her second CTC show! You may have seen her this summer as Minnie Fay in Hello, Dolly! Kimberly has been performing on stage since she was nine, and she is now a senior at UTC (Go Mocs!) majoring in theatre with a minor in creative writing. She has appeared in four mainstage shows at UTC, including Chicago (Velma Kelly) and Oklahoma (Ado Annie). She serves as vice president of the Omicron Phi chap-

ter of the Alpha Psi Omega theatre honors society at UTC “Love you, Mom! Enjoy the show!”

COLETTE SMITH (Splasher) is an 8th grader at GPS. This is her third show at the CTC, the others being Les Miserables (Little Cosette/Eponine) and Miracle on 34th Street. Other favorite roles include Jemima Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (SMPH), Jane in Mary Poppins (CDE), and the title role in Annie (GPS/McCallie). Last fall, Colette spent a month in NYC playing Penelope in Show and Tell with All Star Entertainment. Colette dances with the Chattanooga Ballet and loves tum-

bling. She thanks Katherine, Michael, and Andrew for giving her this amazing opportunity!

RODNEY VAN VALKENBURG (Joseph Pulitzer) has appeared in many CTC produc-tions since the 1980s, including A Chorus Line, A Little Night Music, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables, The Producers, Spamalot, and most recently A Room with a View. Rodney also directed the comedy Boeing Boeing last season. During the day, he works at ArtsBuild, where he advocates locally and nationally for the arts. Rodney shares his passion for theatre with his wife, Julie, and son, Jake.

CORA GRACE WILLIAMS (Kid Blink, Scab) is extremely proud to join the cast of News-ies. CTC credits include The Wiz and Beauty & the Beast. Cora Grace is a freshman at CCA, where her major is theatre. She would like to thank her mom for not letting her quit when things got hard. She also thanks director Katherine Tanner for allowing her to grow, learn, and enjoy this valuable experience. She sends a special thanks to cho-reographer Andrew Parker for pushing her to lengths she never knew she could go.

DAWN (HENDRIX) WILSON (Medda Larkin) returns to CTC where her favorite role was Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act, a performance which earned her a Miss Annie nomination. Recent credits also include Love/Sick, Little Shop of Horrors, and Steel Magnolias. Dawn would like to dedicate this show to her late father-in-law, James “Red” Wilson, whose strength was only surpassed by his kindness. Remember: “People will stare. VENA CHAMPION (Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager) started at the CTC as a volunteer in 2013, then later joined the staff as the Wardrobe Super-visor, and later moved into Special Events and Group Sales. Vena’s love of the performing arts has been consistent throughout her life. She was awarded a B.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Alabama in 1996. She owned and operated the Cumberland Dance Academy in Cookeville

for 11 years before coming to Chattanooga. During the first years of residing in Chattanooga, Vena enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom with her two boys, Drew and Alex. Drew’s introduction to theater at the CTC in 2013 is what brought her back to the arts. Vena is truly grateful to be able to work with such a talented and dedicated staff throughout the CTC and is thankful for her husband, Greg, who has always supported her crazy life in the arts.

MARIE DANCE (Assistant Stage Manager) is a native of Chattanooga and a grad-uate of CCA, where she majored in dance, and Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. Marie has ap-peared at the CTC acting, dancing and singing, with credits including Romeo and Juliet and Legally Blonde. Marie is thrilled to be a part of the Newsies team and is ready to “Seize the Day!”

ANGIE GRIFFIN (Production Stage Manager) moved to Chattanooga in 2016, and Fiddler on the Roof was her first show at CTC. Since then, she’s worked on Miracle on 34th Street, Festival of New Plays, Peter and the Starcatcher, Beauty and the Beast, and Hello Dolly. Before relocating, Angie was very active at her hometown communi-ty theatre, Pensacola Little Theatre. She’s been lucky enough to work in various roles (stage manager, lighting assistant, sound design/engineer, props) for such shows as

Ragtime, Little Prince, Seussical the Musical, Peter Pan, The Producers, and many more. When not at the theatre, she’s either studying, volunteering, or enjoying the outdoors with her beagle, Lily.

MICHAEL HUSEMAN (Musical Director) is a Grammy award-winning composer and a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), as well as the National Association of Popular Music. He has been the musical director and accompanist for numerous shows here at CTC, most recently Beauty and the Beast and A Christmas Story. Working with his writing partner, Chuck Tuttle, Michael has created nine original musicals for the past three years

for the Summer Musical Academy here at CTC. He has written music and lyrics in a variety of musical styles, ranging from stirring choral anthems to several New York City cabaret shows. Mi-chael also writes original personalized songs for special events, such as weddings and birthdays. GARY MAY (Sound Designer) became involved in the audio department at CTC during the 2016 production of Miracle on 34th Street and has subsequently assist-ed nearly all productions and events at the theatre since. Outside of CTC shows, he remains busy doing freelance work with local sound engineers and theaters around Chattanooga and north Georgia.

ANDREW PARKER (Choreographer) is the Company Artistic Director of Chatta-nooga Ballet and has developed over his 30-year career a wealth of professional ex-perience as a dynamic and inspired director, choreographer, ballet master, teacher, and community collaborator. Andrew has held numerous leadership positions in the United States and Canada, such as School Director and Dean of Nashville Ballet, Artistic Administrator of Boston Ballet’s CITYDANCE program, and Ballet Master of Montreal’s La La La Human Steps. He has taught at Canada’s National Ballet School,

Boston Ballet School, Milwaukee Ballet, Walnut Hill School, as well as Ballet Academy of Texas, Tex-as Ballet Theatre School, and Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas with many of his former students now performing in and choreographing for dance companies internationally. For 11 years, he danced professionally with Milwaukee Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Ballet Iowa, and City Ballet of Houston, performing a wide range of classical and contemporary repertoire. He has created choreography for many schools and companies across North America, as well as for Toronto’s International Dance Festival and the Orianna Women’s Choir. In the 2016-17 season, he created many new works for Chattanooga Ballet, including new choreography for The Nutcrack-er, and also choreographed the “Dream Ballet” for the UTC Theatre Department’s production of Oklahoma! Andrew serves as a regular guest master teacher at several intensive summer dance programs nationally and is also on the Board of Directors of Tennessee Association of Dance.

TIA STRICKLAND (Assistant Stage Manager) graduated from Sewanee: The Uni-versity of the South in 2016 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a B.S. in Chemistry. She attended North Carolina State University for a year and a half in the graduate program pursuing a Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry specializing in Mass Spectrometry and Biotechnology. She has since moved back to Chattanooga and is now the lab manager at AquaTreat, INC./Marion Environmental, INC. Previously, she appeared

in CTC’s production of Holes, which inspired her to create a drama club at Central High School. Re-cent credits include King Lear (Cordelia) at the Tennessee Williams Centre, where she was also the head costume designer for their cabaret, In a Nutshell. Other CTC credits include Beauty and the Beast and The Glass Menagerie. “I have enjoyed watching this Newsies cast grow and cannot wait for everyone to see the fruits of all their labor! CHEERS!”

KATHERINE MICHELLE TANNER (Director) is an actress, singer, director, chore-ographer, and writer best known for her multi-award winning performance of The Amish Project (Off Broadway and U.S. Tour). Florida work includes roles in Proof, August: Osage County, Hamlet, Suddenly Last Summer, Metamorphoses, The Drowning Girls, The Glass Menagerie, Gidion’s Knot, Charm, Collected Stories, A Doll’s House, Picasso’s Women, and many more. Katherine is Mary in the

award-winning feature film Waiting on Mary and has appeared in other films including The File, The Darndest Things, 15 Minutes of Faye, A Chance to Live, and the Academy Award-nominated Respire Mon Amie. Katherine has written the plays Shakespeare’s Lovers and Idiot Servant and Echoes and has written and composed the musicals Nineteen, Thumbelina, The Little Match Girl, Pippi Longstocking, and The Crimson Cloak. She holds a triple major from St. Olaf College, and her M.F.A in Acting is from the F.S.U. Asolo Theatre Conservatory. Katherine has performed all across the globe including London, Norway, Italy and Finland. She enjoys teaching acting, singing, dancing, and writing Master Classes all across the U.S. Katherine is the founder and Artistic Director of Tree Fort Productions based in Sarasota (katherinemichelletanner.com). She extends her thanks to Todd Olson for the chance to work with all at CTC, especially her Kings and Queens of New York.

ALICE TRENT (Lighting Designer) is making her CTC debut. She is a second-year M.F.A. lighting design graduate candidate at the University of Tennessee. Before going to school in Knoxville, she worked at the Cleveland Play House during their Centennial Season as their Lighting Apprentice. As a Cincinnati native, she worked around town as an electrician and assistant. Regional credits include the Clarence Brown Theatre, the North Carolina Stage Company, Dixon Center Theatre, and Cincinnati Shakespeare. Alice also holds a BA in Theatre and History from Xavier University.

MEET THE THEATRE CENTRE STAFFEVAN BRACKETT (Master Carpenter) has an A.A.S. in Construction Management as well as ten years of experience in technical theatre, working as a carpenter, grip, rigger, scenic painter, electrician, sound engineer, and designer. He is from Rome, GA, where he worked as the Technical Director for the Rome Shakespeare Festival and the Facilities Manager for the Historic Desoto Theatre, where he built and designed numerous productions. He is excited to be a part of the CTC family and put his hands to work on the shows this season.

KATIE CAMPASSI (Education Assistant) has her B.A. in Theatre (cum laude) from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. She has performed professionally throughout the southeast in theatre and film. Katie has also taught a wide variety of ages, from preschool to adult, for the past eight years. She is also a makeup artist, singer, guitar player, and fitness enthusiast.

NICOLE COLEMAN (Box Office Assistant) has enjoyed the local arts scene since her first acting class at CTC and painting workshop at the Hunter Museum. As her world became a stage, she entertained audiences in CTC Youth Theatre productions and at the Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts. Nicole serves as a panelist for the ArtsBuild Community Cultural Connections Grant and performs on stage any chance she can get!

R. SCOTT DUNLAP (Youth Theatre Director) is an alumnus of CTC’s Youth Theatre program, graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1996, and was a member of their 1997 Acting Company. This season will mark his 21st season with CTC. He was Youth Theatre Designer from 1997 until 2000. From 2007 to 2012, he wrote and directed several shows for Baylor Middle School, including The Snow Queen, The Jungle Book, and The Canterville Ghost. He has been onstage in numerous CTC productions,

including Miss Hannigan in Annie, Roger DeBris in The Producers, and the Baker in Into the Woods. In 2008, he received the Best Actor award for Estrogon in Waiting for Godot at the Tennessee Theatre Association Community Theatre Competition. He would later return to receive the 2012 Best Director and Best Production awards for The 39 Steps. His long history of directing CTC shows often includes designing his own productions. Some of his favorites include Almost Maine, The Best Man, Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, Camelot, Dark of the Moon, Dividing the Estate, Hair, Love/Sick, Mr. & Mrs. M, Peter and the Starcatcher, Pig Farm, Ring Round the Moon, The Impor-tance of Being Earnest, Xanadu, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 2005 and 2009.

LISA GLISSON (Development Associate) is responsible for implementing our fundraising strategies. During her career, she has been a corporate trainer for high-tech companies such as EDS and Compaq, taught at Lone Star College and Cleveland State Community College, and published an award-winning memoir under her nom de plume. In recent years, she has written numer-ous grant proposals and case statements for nonprofits. Since she loves live theatre – and used to write plays for her third-grade classmates to perform

– Lisa feels that she has found her niche with CTC’s zany yet brilliant crew. Lisa earned degrees in journalism and English from Texas A&M. She and her husband are the parents of two young adult sons, a teenage daughter, and a completely crazy dog.

CASSANDRA GROSS (Business Manager) has lived in Chattanooga for the last 20 years. Not coincidentally, she has been a 20-year volunteer or employee of the CTC, performing in Youth Theatre and Mainstage musicals, assisting in the box office, teaching Summer Academy, and chauffeuring TheatreQuest youth for their annual Atlanta theatre weekend. She holds a bachelor’s degree from UTC in Accounting (Go Mocs!) and now enjoys keeping a watchful eye over the financial life of her beloved arts organi-

zation. Cassandra even met her husband, Lee, at CTC and together they are raising three wild, loud, lovely children: Savvy, Siddalee, and Moses. In Cassandra’s spare time she cooks, makes her husband laugh, and gardens…and knows the earth can heal you. Cassandra firmly believes in the mission of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre and believes that sharing our stories, in person, in our own voices, is one of the most powerful and loving things that we can do as a community.

N. ERIC KNAUSS (Technical Director) has spent most of the last 25 years working full-time in theatre in the D.C. area. He started at The Studio Theatre in 1992, moved to the Round House Theatre in 1999, then to the Olney Theatre in 2009. After leaving the Olney in 2012, he spent three years working in the theatre department at George Washington Univer-sity. Eric just recently moved to Chattanooga to be closer to family and is happy to be able to continue working in theatre while here.

TARA McDOUGAL (Properties Master & Scenic Painter) is an alum of CTC’s Youth Theatre from back when it was the Little Theatre. She has always loved the creativity and family in the theatre community. Tara attended the University of Evansville in Evansville, IN, and received her B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology. Afterwards, she spent most of her career working in props or as a scenic artist in various professional and regional theatres. Favorite props include a magic trunk for The Fantasticks, the

Bean Stalk for Into the Woods, and many different props for You Can’t Take It With You. She enjoys the challenge and creativity that come with props and painting. Tara is married and has a daughter who she hopes learns to love the theatre as much as Mom does. Tara also enjoys hiking, painting, and spending time with family. She is excited to return to her roots and cannot wait to see where CTC goes next!

RICARDO C. MORRIS (Group Sales & Events Manager) is a native of Chattanooga and attended Calvin Donaldson Elementary school and Alton Park Junior High School. He is a 1980 graduate of Howard High School. Ric continued his Tiger tradition by attending Tennessee State University where he received his B.S. degree in Speech Communication and Theater. After graduation Ricardo taught theater, English and dance for eight years at Hixson High. In 1994 Ric left teaching to attend Yale University where

he earned an M.F.A. in Arts Administration. While attending Yale, Ric founded the Dwight/Edgewood Project which worked with disadvantaged youth through play writing. This program earned him the honor of being the first School of Drama student to become a Yale Presidential Fellow. Ric is currently the owner and CEO of Renaissance Consulting and Management (renais-sanceconsultingmanagement.com). He was Executive Director of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in Birmingham where he founded the Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival. He also led the Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, GA, where he created The International String Band Festival. He later founded the Green Street Arts Center in Middletown, Connecticut. For three years Ric created and produced Chattanooga’s CultureFest and The Glenwood Jazz Festival. Ric considers himself

a dancer/actor/director and has appeared in several productions at CTC, including The Wiz, Hello Dolly, A Chorus Line, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He has directed A Streetcar Named Desire, Blues for an Alabama Sky, August Wilson’s Fences and others. His hobbies include cooking, gardening and home improvement.

KITTY MURAKAMI (Box Office Assistant) is a relative newcomer to Chattanooga, having moved here from Ocala, FL, in 2015. She was raised in upstate New York, graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, and has lived in great places like Denver and Maui. Her first and only experience with theatre (other than high school plays) started as a costume shop volunteer at Ocala Civic Theatre for two years. After retiring as a pharmacist and moving to Chattanooga, she continued volun-

teering at CTC in the costume shop. After finally being offered a part-time Box Office Assistant position in 2016, she was thrilled to become a part of the CTC family. “It has been an honor and a privilege as well as a wonderful learning experience to be involved with this organization. CTC is blessed to have such an amazing facility, talented dedicated staff and volunteers, and such supportive patrons.”

TODD OLSON (Executive Director) has just finished his first year at CTC. Recently he spent 11 years as Producing Artistic Director at American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, FL. He was the 2013 recipient of the Florida Professional Theatre Association’s Richard G. Fallon Award for “Excellence in Professional Theatre.” Todd has directed over 150 plays, musicals, and operas, including My Way (which he co-created) at the Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, and I Left My Heart (also co-created) at

Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. For American Stage, Todd directed over 30 critically-acclaimed plays, including A Moon for the Misbegotten, Anna in the Tropics, The Seafarer, Suddenly Last Summer, Three Days of Rain, The Exonerated (with Sandy Duncan and Antonio Tarver), Dennis Lehane’s Coronado, Dinner with Friends, This Wonderful Life, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, August: Osage County, and Around the World in 80 Days. Original works include new adaptations of Lysistrata and Dracula. Original works include Hurricane Class, Section 60, Casa Blue, the last moments in the life of Frida Kahlo, and Joe Corso Re-Enters from the Wings, which won the 2012 Holland New Voices Playwright Award at the Great Plains Theatre Conference. Todd received his M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina and is a graduate of the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard, where he took classes with David Mamet, Peter Sellars, Andrei Serban, Robert Scanlan, Robert Woodruff, Anna Deveare Smith, and Robert Brustein, among others. Todd was a teaching fellow at Harvard and has taught classes at Vanderbilt, Boston University, University of North Carolina, and the University of South Florida. Todd and his wife, Charlotte, are the proud parents of Jonas, Corinna, and May.

WAYNE SCHOCK (Patron Services Director) is celebrating his 19th season with CTC. He returned to Chattanooga after graduating college, saw some plays with friends, then became a subscriber. “I loved the shows and the evenings out with dinner and brought family and friends for a number of years.” Wayne would become the Box Office Manager; there have been only four in the 95-year history of the Little Theatre/Chattanooga Theatre Centre! “I feel honored to be a part of this great community organization

with such rich history. I am proud of the productions we bring Chattanooga on a yearly basis with local talent. I love getting to know the patrons show after show. I hope to be a part of this great institution for many years to come.”

CHUCK TUTTLE (Director of Education and Outreach) holds a Mas-ter of Fine Arts degree in Children’s Theatre and Creative Drama from the University of Texas at Austin and has over 30 years of ex-perience doing theatre with and for young people. His profession-al background includes serving as Director of Education at Austin Theatre for Youth and Children’s Theatre Workshop in Pleasanton, California. Chuck has taught theatre classes to all ages in act-

ing, playwriting, technical theatre, Shakespeare, voice, movement, improvisation, and comedy, among others. As an actor, he has taken on such roles as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Joaquin in El Californio, Simon in The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and Billy Crocker in Anything Goes (which he performed in Hokkaido, Japan). Directing credits include Waiting for Godot, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, The Nightingale, The Crucible, Once on This Island, and Go, Dog, Go! Chuck has written several stage adaptations, most recently Plant, Grow, Pick, for CTC’s Theatre for the Very Young program. For the past three sum-mers, he has collaborated with composer Michael Huseman to create short musicals for CTC’s Summer Musical Performance Training Academy. As sponsor and advisor of CTC’s teen interest group, TheatreQuest, he contributes to and directs The Alphabet Plays, an ongoing series of plays for young children.

JULIE VAN VALKENBURG (Marketing Director) is entering her second season with the Theatre Centre’s staff, transitioning her 25 years of volunteer experience at the CTC into a dream job at her home away from home. She brings 30 years of experience in marketing, com-munications, public relations, media relations, and digital marketing to the role. As a volunteer, she has worked onstage and backstage, including lending a hand as a stage manager (most recently Les

Miserables and Harvey) and, over the years, as a box office, costume shop, scene shop and special events volunteer. A six-time Miss Annie Award winner, Julie appeared most recently in A Room with a View. After making her CTC debut in A Streetcar Named Desire, she went on to other favorite roles in Six Degrees of Separation, Rumors, God of Carnage, Spinning into Butter, Enchanted April, Dearly Departed, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Julie has appeared on other stages in August: Osage County, The Laramie Project, and Hamlet. She shares her love of theatre with her husband, Rodney, and son, Jake, both of whom have appeared on the CTC stage.
