Honoring our Mission, Celebrating our Vision
FREE * BREAKFAST * FUNDRAISER * NO MINIMUM * NO MAXIMUM * CHILDCARE AVAILABLE
Plan to join together with friends, alumni, parents, past parents and parishioners Saturday, October 7th for our
4th Annual Community Breakfast in honor of the largest ministry of this parish. We will gather together for a
simple meal, a chance to hear about accomplishments from these past years, and our vision for the future.
Every school day for over 50 years, approximately 245 students are on our campus, learning and growing
spiritually, academically and emotionally. Students graduate here and continue successfully at high schools,
college and into their lives full of faith. It is a blessing to the families of the East Valley to be able to attend
Christ the King Catholic School and these families appreciate your efforts as a parish community. While this is a
fundraiser for operating funds for the school, there is no minimum for this free event.
Please RSVP from the front page of the school website - www.ctk-catholicschool.org or call the school office 480-844-4480

A MESSAGE FOR YOU

Religious Education
Religious Education It is an exciting time for the new year of Religious Education 2017-18. Over 420 students have registered with high expectations and zeal to grow in love and faith in Jesus Christ. We are so grateful to many generous parishioners who have helped with their prayers and monetary donations towards scholarships and providing materials for this important ministry. Christ the King Parish is blessed to have so many committed and generous people who desire to guide and nurture our children in faith and love. The apostolic work of the catechist springs from the sacrament of Baptism. The call to the ministry of catechist is a vocation, an interior call, the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Catechists are practicing Catholics who participate fully in the communal worship and life of the Church and who have been prepared for their apostolate by appropriate catechetical training. Their commissioning by the Church is participation in the divine calling to each as Jesus did. (cf. National Directory of Catechesis, 228-9)
Lord God, your spirit of wisdom fills the earth and teaches us in your ways. Look upon these catechists. Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle patience and endeavor always to bring the truth to eager minds. Grant that we may follow Jesus Christ, the way, the truth and the life, forever and ever. Amen.
Please pray for our students. Make every Soul Count! Sr. Mary Beata, PVMI

Help Needed Ushers and Greeters
Ushers and Greeters welcome people to church, hand out music and bulletins, help Mass to be
orderly, and take up the collection. The Usher-Greeter is the first person many people see when they enter the house of God. The Usher-Greeter
helps prepare the faithful to be ready for worship.
The attitude the Usher-Greeter demonstrates in the entry way of the church sets the spiritual tone
for everything else to come. A good Usher-Greeter enhances the Mass. (Adapted from Serving As A
Church Usher by Leslie Parrott)

Hna. Mary Beata, PVMI

Dear Lord, teach me to be generous,
teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wound,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for a reward,
save that of knowing that I do Your will.

Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. I will seek You in the morning and I will learn to walk in Your ways And step by step You’ll lead me and I will follow You all of my days.
Sometimes the night was beautiful. Sometimes the sky was so far away. Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close you could touch it, but your heart would break. Sometimes the morning came too soon. Sometimes the day can be so hot. There was so much work left to do, but so much You’d already done. . .
Sometimes I think of Abraham; how one star he saw had been lit for me. He was a stranger to this land. And I am that, no less than he. And on this road to righteousness, sometimes the climb can be so steep. I may falter in my steps, but never beyond Your reach. . .

Blessed are they who are poor in spirit, Theirs is the kingdom of God. Bless us, O Lord, make us poor in spirit; Bless us, O Lord, our God.
We are the light of the world, may our light shine before all, That they may see the good that we do, and give glory to God.
Blessed are they who are meek and humble, they will inherit the earth. Bless us, O Lord, make us meek and humble; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Blessed are they who will mourn in sorrow, they will be comforted. Bless us, O Lord, when we share their sorrow; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Bless those who hunger and thirst for justice, they will be satisfied. Bless us, O Lord, hear our cry for justice; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Blessed are they who show others mercy, they will know mercy too. Bless us, O Lord, hear our cry for mercy; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Blessed are hearts that are clean and holy, they will behold the Lord. Bless us, O Lord, make us pure and holy; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Blessed are they who bring peace among us, they are the children of God. Bless us, O Lord, may your peace be with us; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Bless those who suffer from persecution, theirs is the kingdom of God. Bless us, O Lord, when they persecute us; bless us, O Lord, our God.
Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that you are present in this Blessed Sacrament as true God and true Man, with your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. My Redeemer and my Judge,
I adore your Divine Majesty together with the angels and saints. I believe, O Lord; increase my faith.

Christians let us love one another as we share the true living bread Jesus is our God and our brother;
with his flesh and blood we are fed.
Everyone who loves is born of God Jesus is our life, God is love.
We who break this bread are one body, we who share this cup are all one Children of our Father in heaven, we are heirs of God’s only Son.
We who eat and drink at this table die and rise again with our Lord.
Drawing from our rock living water giv’n to all who thirst for accord.
On the path of life we may falter earthly food alone leaves us weak. Always you invite from the altar,
“Hungry souls their food here must seek.”
Wheat and grape incarnate a mystery; Jesus is the true living bread
Let us eat with joy and thanksgiving, trusting in the word he has said.
Cf. 1 Cor 10: 16 The chalice of blessing that we bless is a communion in the Blood of Christ;
and the bread that we break is a sharing in the Body of the Lord.

Be forgiven. Be forgiven. Be forgiven of the sin that you hold on.
Be forgiven. Be forgiven. Jesus died and rose that you might know His love
and be forgiven.
Jesus told you, he wants your peace. Jesus told you he wants you healed.
Jesus lifted up the blind man, he lifted up the dead. He lifted those who mourn their own.
He did just what he said. Jesus rose for you and He rose for me.
He died and rose that we might know His peace, and . . .
Jesus walked the miles that it took to reach us. Jesus touched the leper that you shouldn’t touch.
Jesus wept for Lazurus, don’t you think he’ll do the same for you and me
when we are dead, and we are in our graves? Jesus rose for you and He rose for me.
He died and rose that we might know His peace, and . . .
Like the women at the well He looks into our eyes and tells us everything that we have ever done.
With a love that’s plain to see He is calling you and me to follow Him that we might truly be. . .
Forgiven, forgiven. Forgiven of the sin that we hold on. Be forgiven. Be forgiven.
Jesus died and rose that we might know His love, and be forgiven.

Take, Lord, receive all my liberty, my memory, understanding, my entire will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace: that's enough for me.
Your love and Your grace are enough for me.
Take, Lord, receive all I have and possess. You have given all to me; now I return it.
Take, Lord, receive, all is Yours now; Dispose of it wholly according to Your will.
Field, Pool, Van Manen, Riekerk © 1996 Windswept Music
All the colors of the rainbow, all the voices of the wind.
Ev’ry dream that reaches out, reaches out to find where love begins.
Ev’ry word of ev’ry story, ev’ry star in ev’ry sky. Ev’ry corner of creation lives to testify.
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love. I’ll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough. With every breath I take, I will give thanks to God above,
For as long as I shall live, I will testify to love.
From the mountains to the valleys, from the rivers to the sea.
Ev’ry hand that reaches out, ev’ry hand that reaches out to offer peace.
Ev’ry single act of mercy, ev’ry step to Kingdom come. All the hope in ev’ry heart speaks what love has done.
