Ladies and Gentlemen:
The next major agenda item for the Board and our POA, following the Bylaws changes, is to update and revise the Rules and Regulations. Susan Stravato has agreed to chair a committee of volunteers to review the current Rules and to make recommendations to the Board for modifications, corrections, etc. The committee members are; Sandi Eudy, Todd Grey, Dottie Nation, Prescilla Sanders and John Teague. Current plans are to hold one or more public meetings and solicit input from all interested members. Please contact the office, signup for email notices and/or watch the marquees for dates and times of those community gatherings.
In late August, or early September, an outside contractor will begin maintenance work on the entire spillway. They will be cleaning and caulking the concrete joints, so it should have no impact on normal lake traffic. This is one of those projects that has been planned for some time. Also, don’t forget the fireworks show on September 5th. If you plan to have guests down to watch, please remember to have your invitation list to the gate no later than the afternoon of September 3rd. Your list needs to be alphabetized and have your name, address and member number at the top. Getting your list to the gate on time will help the office plan the staffing requirements at the gate for that evening.
Sincerely,Wales Madden

Sept. 12th is the Children’s Miracle Network Triathlon. Make plans to volunteer to help. Call Cindy, 678-0361. North Shore’s eastbound lane will have 250 Triathlon bikers racing between the times of 10-11 on Saturday, Sept. 12th. The eastbound lane of N Shore will be closed to cars while the bikers are racing. The 250 Triathlon runners will run in the eastbound lane going down South Shore and will return in the westbound lane of South Shore. Between 10:30-12:00, any car traffic will experience delays due to runners on the road and the big bridge. Please look at the COURSE MAP to see the areas that will be used during the Triathlon. No resident parking at the comm. ctr. If you have a 2-seat golf cart that can be used to transport people, please call Cindy at 678-0361. Restaurant closed. The purpose of the Triathlon is to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Tanglewood is honored to provide a safe location for the athletes. We have over 100 LT volunteers with their golf carts who provide safe roads for our bikers & runners. We have around 20 volunteers who provide a safe transition for the 250 swimmers from the water ramp to the biking area. We have a wonderful crew of volunteers who provide the athletes and volunteers food at lunch.

Howdy from the Golf Association, 8/15/2015
The golf course is looking great! All the rain and hot weather has helped the back nine. It looks like a real golf course now. We are still talking about putting tee box signs that describe the holes and shows the yardages from the different tee boxes.
Sheila at the front office is in charge of collecting the signup sheets at the golf course. She indicates there are a lot of people that are not signing up. The Corporation looks at these sheets to determine how many people are using the course, thus deciding how much money they want to put towards the course. The LTGA does most of the improvements while the Corporation is in charge of maintenance. There are many of us in the LTGA that play almost every day, so we will start introducing ourselves to everybody we see golfing to make sure they sign in and also sign in their guests. There is a $10 fee on weekdays and $20 fee on the weekends /holidays. There is signup sheet in the club house. When filling this out you should put down how many guests you have next to your name and the corporation will charge your monthly statement. This money goes back into the golf course.
It is against the rules to let guests play without a member present. You are subject to a fine up to $500 for not following these simple rules. Help us out by being courteous and cooperative if somebody checks with you while you are playing. With more people playing the course these days, it is important that we follow these rules. Rule violations will be reported to the office for prosecution.
You can also help out by filling all divots on the tee boxes and repairing ball marks on the greens. There should be a black box with sand on every tee box, so let’s help keep our tee boxes and greens the best in Amarillo.
A special thanks to Matt Farris, Bobby Sedgedy, David Doshier,Brady Meyer and Janel Meyer for their hard work on getting the first chain link fence up on the driving range. Hopefully this project will be completed soon. Also thanks to Roger Wright, Rick Swope, Harold Bradford, David Doshier, Buster Holman, Mike Shafer, Marshall Brazille, and Dean Logan with special kudos to Dave Thompson and his crew with his Bob Cat. We trimmed up most of the trees on the front nine and also removed all the dead ones. We plan on having a clean-‐up day every first Saturday of the month through the winter months. We will be trimming trees and weed eating so bring any related equipment. Since we will be meeting at the same time every month, we would like to see many more new faces helping us out. We usually work from 8:00-‐11:00 so please help us make our course a beautiful place to play.
We are still looking for donations to help with our many projects. We are planning to replace cart paths on the back nine with concrete. We are also going to plant new trees on the front and back nine. If you can’t help us physically with our projects a donation will do just fine.
I also want to thank Trent Winings at West Texas Golf Carts for providing a great meal for all who played the night golf tournament on July 19th. It was great!

We had a good turnout for the Championship Tournament on Aug. 15th with 20 people competing in
5 different flights.
The winners are:
Men’s Championship flight-‐ Clay Lankford
Men’s Presidents flight-‐ Roger Wright
Men’s Senior flight-‐ Phil Gensler
Women’s Championship flight-‐ Janel Meyer
Women’s Senior flight-‐ Kim Judd
The last tournament of the year is Labor Day Sept. 7th at 9:00. Let’s end the year with a great turnout.
Don’t forget to attend our quarterly meeting Sept 20th 6:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. There will be a meal provided as well as a putting contest. Please RSVP so we will know how much food to supply. Anybody who plays the course needs to be there so they can help make decisions on the improvements we make towards the course.
Thanks,
Dean Logan

TRI to Make A Difference -- Lake Tanglewood TRIathlon
September 12, 2015 10-noon
Ten years ago, Judy & Barry Lynch started the LT TRIathlon as an endeavor to help the Children’s Miracle
Network with donations to help the BSA neonatal unit. Since the start of the LT TRIathlon, the funds raised
have helped to provide grants for children and their families in need of travel to specialists, medications,
outstanding medical bills, specialized medical equipment, and other healthcare needs.
With special help, Thomas, their 10 yr. old son, will participate in the TRIathlon this year. Thomas & his parents
are a blessing to all who know them.
We have over 100 LT volunteers who help provide a safe environment. The LT Lions Club members & their
golf carts provide parking for the people who do not live at the lake and who must park outside of the lake area.
We ask our community members to refrain from driving around the lake area between 10-noon. We reroute
the traffic to ensure the safety of the competitors. We do not allow cars in the areas of the bikers.
The TRIathlon starts with the swimmers 400 meter event at 10:00 am. After each competitor finishes the swim
competition, he begins his 10-mile bike ride down North Shore then up the hill to John’s Way then the Claude
Hwy, Tanglewood Rd, the Tanglewood Dr. to community center. After the bike competition, the athlete runs
the 5K down S Shore and back to the community center. Awards presentation is around 11:30 am.
For the safety of the athletes, please avoid driving your car inside LT between 10-noon on Saturday, Sept. 12,
2015.
On Sept. 12th, the restaurant will not be open until Saturday at 3pm.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Run Turn-Around
Village Notes Don’t forget, the FIREWORKS have been rescheduled for September 5th at dark. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates. Two individuals were honored at the August Village Council Meeting. Kerry Oliver was presented a certificate by Randall County Sheriff Joel Richardson for assisting a Lake Tanglewood police officer during an arrest. At the same meeting, Lake Tanglewood Patrolman Bryan Cross was presented a Letter of Commendation by me for his performance during two significant incidents in our village. Be sure to congratulate these two gentlemen when you see them. The next Village Council Meeting will be September 14th at 6:00PM in the Village Hall. Residents frequently ask which organization (Village or L.S.I.O.T.) is responsible for different issues. That is an excellent question as there is overlap in the responsibilities and authority of the two entities. The village is responsible for health, safety and welfare related areas similar to other towns and cities. These are covered in the Village of Lake Tanglewood Code of Ordinances (available on the L.T. Website) and include vehicle operation, building codes, watercraft, emergency management and the municipal court as part of the ordinances. The police department is part of the village organization. L.S.I.O.T. can be viewed as being similar to a property owners association. As such, they develop and enforce membership rules and regulations (available on the L.T. Website) and maintain and operate the water system, marina, roads, community center, restaurant, storage area and gate. There is some overlap between the rules and ordinances. Additionally, the L.S.I.O.T. Rules and Regulations have some specific requirements for buildings and fences. Both a building permit and L.S.I.O.T. approval are required prior to starting a construction, fence or wall project. If you have a question but are unsure if it is a village or L.S.I.O.T. question, ask Sherry or Sheila in the office. George Moore Mayor, Village of Lake Tanglewood
