FALL SEMESTER 2016 TEN SUNDAY SESSIONS

September 11 through November 13 at 6:00pm

PRAYING TOGETHER Seminar Leaders: Sandy Mercer and Diane Stanton (Room 205)

This ten-week course is one opportunity to participate in the prayer ministry of our church. This semester we will be using Megan Hill's book, Praying

Together, along with other resources. Each week we will begin with reflection from one of our prayer resources followed by a focused time of

prayer for our church, community, and world events. If your schedule does not allow, it's not necessary for you to attend every week. Come when you

can or if you need prayer. Everyone is welcome!

CHRIST AND CHRISTOLOGY Seminar Leader: Dick Atkins (Room 207)

Christology is the study of the Person, the Purpose, the Teachings, and the Life of Jesus Christ. It is important that every Christian think through vital concepts that are essential to the faith: the Lineage/Family/Historicity of Jesus, various Incarnation Theories, various Atonement Theories, Jesus as Typical Prophet and Unique Messiah, the Gnostic/Docetic/Celestial-Flesh

Christ, the Humanity of Jesus, the Son of Man concept, how Jesus dealt with Scripture, the Eschatology of Jesus, the Spectacular Sayings of Jesus, the

Non-Violence Teaching of Jesus, the Repudiation of Judaism by Jesus, Christophanies (post-resurrection appearances), Cultic Antichrists, and

Essential Christian Beliefs.

Student programming will be held simultaneously. Childcare will also be available.

Reading Roundtable Resumes!

Come, join us, when we start up again on

Friday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m...

A Page from the Library Many thanks go out to Gail Davidson! She was able to get books in the Junior Fiction area from Maitland Public Library AND she also got books from a church that was closing its library. She piled all of them into her car and brought them to COTD. One of Cassie's friends gave her a box of books too. We are growing! Books for this month are: The Sound of God's Applause by Les Hughes Living a life that glorifies the Father, too often we lose our way. In this world, we are desperately trying to gain the praise of others - and neglecting the one opinion that matters most. What's Heaven? by Maria Shriver After her great-grandmother's death, a young girl learns about heaven by asking her mother all kinds of questions.
