Wow isn't this weather amazing!!!!! Hopefully it will stay that way so we can get plenty of rides in!!! Here
are the events we have scheduled so far this month.
We will start the month off on September 2nd by taking a ride to Echo Bluff State Park, we have heard from
several of our members plus members from other chapters that this is a great park! Chapter Missouri "O"
did a weekend trip here a few months ago; it may be an idea for Chapter Z next year. On Sunday Septem-
ber 10th we will take a ride to Onondaga Cave State Park for another Sandwich Ride. On September 16th
we will ride to Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, the tickets for this ride had to be purchased in advance,
there are no other tickets available. Our dinner ride will be to Ginny's on September 19th. On Friday Sep-
tember 22nd several of us will leave to go to the Southern Illinois Ride-In in DuQuoin, Illinois, we will re-
turn sometime in the evening on the 23rd. On September 24th the Bike and Badge Ride to benefit Back-
stoppers will depart from St Louis Honda, we will meet early to get into the beginning of the ride, then walk
over to Golden Corral for breakfast. On Saturday September 30th, we will return to SkyView Drive-In, we
will have more details later. The ride that was originally scheduled for September 30th was to Lambert's we
will re-schedule that ride for a later date.

Hello friends! We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice days for riding. We
had some really nice rides this month and many members came out to ride and have fun.
On Aug 5th we went down to Chapter I's Fun Run and 30 Z members attended. On the
15th we had our monthly dinner ride to Poppy's Restaurant and 26 members came and en-
joyed a great meal and friendship.
Aug. 19Th we had 14 members attend the district picnic. The next day the 20th we had 23
members attend and work the Ride For Kids Fundraiser. It was a beautiful day and a great
ride. The kids really enjoyed the ride especially the girl who rode in Batman's slingshot!!
They announced that over $36 thousand dollars had been raised! Aug. 26 was the KZ big
wiener run and 15 members joined KZ and Carla at their camp site for a picnic.
We hope everyone enjoyed the rides this month and we hope even more will ride next
month.
Ride safe and smart friends.

Chapter Rider Education Article for September 2017
First, I assume most of us have heard or read about the new changes coming down
from GWRRA. Missouri Chapter Z Directors have decided to keep business as usual as
far as Rider Education goes through December 2017.
As a Rider Educator, I hope this decision will not get members hurt, or place them in
harm’s way. I believe team riding is a VERY safe way to move a group and it is still ex-
tremely important that our members are trained in team riding. In the armed services,
groups of soldiers are moved in a similar manner. I know the education will still be avail-
able to members and my hope is Rider Education does not get LAX.
One of the reasons that Sara and I wanted to join GWRRA was the Rider Education Pro-
gram. I wanted to be a better rider than I was when we initially joined. I wanted to keep
the love of my life safe. Sara and I will be here for the members, please do not hesitate
to ask questions or request a Rider Education class. Chapter Z keeps a full calendar, but
our Directors are always willing to make things work.
In closing: Please keep learning, Please keep practicing, and most of all, Please be safe.
Remember, the life or limb you save might not belong to you.

Motorcycle Awareness
Wow, I just wrote August newsletter article last week didn't I? Just seems like
it. Summer has went faster than normal. Dosen't mean we should slack on our
safety factors and awareness needs. This is a year round never ending process.
You can always learn something about your motorcycle and make people aware
even when weather does not permit riding. In my opinion unless the laws
change things, it is much more unsafe now to ride or drive than it was 5 years
ago. The cell phone is all our enemy. We alone can not stop it. Too many stupid
people on the road who use cell phones while operating a vehicle, even the 18
wheelers. Only a priority after the damage is done. Also police could not begin
to cover if it was enforced. Until things change stay back when you see a vehi-
cle act irresponsibly and stay away from road rage as hard as it is to do some-
times. Too many crazy people out on the roads.
