R.E.A.P. BIBLE STUDY METHOD 1. READ Open your Bible to today’s passage. Begin your time with a moment of prayer, drawing yourself into an awareness of God’s presence, asking God to guide you as you meditate on his Word. Ask God to teach, correct, and train you (2 Timothy 3:16). Prayer is often the missing element in Bible study. It is the Holy Spirit who brings transformation. As you are reading, watch for a verse or two, or a paragraph that jumps out at you, to become the focus of your examination. 2. EXAMINE Ask probing questions of the passage. What do you notice about God’s character? God’s work? What do you learn about people and God’s will for our lives? Notice: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? Mark your Bible according to what you observe. Put the passage into your own words as you understand it. Record your observations in a journal. 3. APPLY Prayerfully meditate on the passage. What do you need to repent of? What do you need to believe? Specifically, is there a: - Sin to Confess - Prayer to Pray - Promise to Claim - Error to Avoid - Attitude to Change - Truth to Believe - Command to Obey - Special Thanks - Example to Follow 4. PRAY Pray through the passage and your application. Asking God to change your heart and life according to it. 10-Sep Luke 1-2 11-Sep Luke 3-4 12-Sep Luke 5-6 13-Sep Luke 7-8 14-Sep Luke 9-10 15-Sep Luke 11-12 16-Sep Luke 13-14 17-Sep Luke 15-16 18-Sep Luke 17-18 19-Sep Luke 19-20 20-Sep Luke 21-22 21-Sep Luke 23-24 22-Sep Acts 1-2 23-Sep Acts 3-4 24-Sep Acts 5-6 25-Sep Acts 7-8 26-Sep Acts 9-10 27-Sep Acts 11-12 28-Sep Acts 13-14 29-Sep Acts 15-16 30-Sep Acts 17-18 September 2017 1-Nov Ephesians 1-2 2-Nov Ephesians 3-4 3-Nov Ephesians 5-6 4-Nov Philippians 1-2 5-Nov Philippians 3-4 6-Nov Colossians 1-2 7-Nov Colossians 3-4 8-Nov 1 Thess 1-2 9-Nov 1 Thess 3-4 10-Nov 2 Thess 5 11-Nov 2 Thess 1-2 12-Nov 2 Thess 3 13-Nov 1 Timothy 1-2 14-Nov 1 Timothy 3-4 15-Nov 1 Timothy 5-6 16-Nov 2 Timothy 1-2 17-Nov 2 Timothy 3-4 18-Nov Titus 1-2 19-Nov Titus 3-4 20-Nov Philemon 21-Nov Hebrews 1-2 22-Nov Hebrews 3-4 23-Nov Hebrews 5-6 24-Nov Hebrews 7-8 25-Nov Hebrews 9-10 26-Nov Hebrews 11-12 27-Nov Hebrews 13 28-Nov James 1-2 29-Nov James 3-4 30-Nov James 5 November 2017

Bethel Bible Reading Plan Fall 2017

INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your decision to read the Bible! Bible Reading is one of the most enriching, time-tested ways to grow in your relationship with God. Sometimes the hardest thing about Bible reading is having a plan. This plan is approximately 2 chapters a day. Over the course of 2-years you will read through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice. This pace allows you to slow down and meditate on God’s Word. It is a plan that we can all work through together amidst the busyness of life.

TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS •Try to find a quiet place and a time that will regularly work for you.

•Be as consistent as possible. Missing a reading makes it easier to miss the

next.

•This plan is great for groups! Talk with others about your readings.

•Do not let the hard-to-understand things distract you from the what you

clearly understand. Act on what you understand; save the questions on what

you don’t to ask at a later time.

•When (not “if,” WHEN!) you miss a reading or fall behind, catch-up methods

include: skipping missed chapters, skimming missed chapters, or making up

the missed chapters over time. Don’t let Satan discourage you from getting

into God’s Word!

•Are you a night owl? Read tomorrow’s reading the night beforehand. This

enables you to meditate on and “apply” the passage all day the following day.

•While apps can be helpful on the go, we still recommend an old school paper

Bible. It is less prone to distraction, glitches, and never runs out of battery.

•A good Study Bible can be very helpful. If you have study notes: read the

text, read the note, and then read the text again. This will help you stay

focused on the text rather than on the study notes.
