Hello Parents,Wow!! Time is really flying. I can’t believe that it’s September already. We’ve had a great 2 weeks of school and we are all settled in with our new routines and procedures in place and instruction is on the rise. Students are meeting new friends. Students are super excited about our superhero theme for this year and they thought we were pretty amazing when we showed up all dressed up in our superhero gear on the first day of school. We will invite students to join us for our next superhero day, so start looking for some superhero gear for your children. We will also have a new school spirit t-shirt that you may purchase. Thank you to all families that attended Meet the Teacher Night. Over half of our families were here. Thank you for getting your children prepared for school by making sure that they had all of the necessary school supplies and a book bag to transport important things to and from school. All parents should have received a student/parent handbook and a Student Code of Conduct Book. Please go over both of these important booklets with your child and return the parent signature page from the Student Code of Conduct Book.
Looking forward to an AMAZING year!
Humboldt NewsMs. Sierra Moore Family Community Specialist
Hello Humboldt Families, I want to welcome you all to Humboldt Academy, where above average students do above average things. We are so excited about the 2017-2018 school year! We have so many fun and exciting things planned for you all. Every month you all will receive our “Humboldt Happenings” Newsletter. It is a way for you to stay informed about what is going on in the school. I am looking for a lot of parent participation this year, my goal is to see us all come together and make some wonderful things happen here at Humboldt. If you would like to be on our PTO, Ami Boehlje is our president and she can answer any questions for you. If you would like to volunteer and need an application just let me know, it is important to have this if you plan on going on field trips as well. I am available to you all whenever you need me. My aim is to make all our families feel welcomed, and help our students be the best that they can be. Let’s make this year excellent!

Extra Extra Read All About It!!!Ms. Dana Carothers LibrarianHello everyone! We have some exciting things going on in the library. Starting in September I will be starting a program called Reading Recess. Reading Recess is where I will take 3 students from each class who don’t like to read or have low reading scores outside to read a short story and answer a few questions. After they answer the questions than they will be allowed to play for 15 minutes. This program will help increase reading scores and get the children to enjoy reading. Reading is so important to us at Humboldt, we encourage our students to read as much as they can and parents you can too! Let your children read for at least 20 min when they get home, do a fun activity with them to increase their imagination. If you need books, we have them! Also, don’t forget about the book fair that is starting next week, books galore! Let’s make reading fun again, it will help our children grow!

PAWSITIVITYMs. Brittany Stewart PBIS
Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist What a pawsitive way to start our school year! We have
been working so hard to make sure the students have an exciting pawsitive school year. We have several PBIS celebrations coming up that involves each child. The
celebrations are put in place to reward students for their pawsitive behavior and attitude. I will work closely with students helping them adapt socially, emotionally, and physically, so that they can perform to the best of their
academic ability. Our goal is to get students to understand how important behavior is and the impact that it has on
succeeding in school. Together we can make this happen, and I know that we will!

Character Word of the Month“Respect”Every month Humboldt encourages our students to display actions that represent the character word of the month. Teachers will pick the top two students from each class and they will be featured on our Wall of Character and the newsletter. We encourage these words as a way to teach students the importance of character in everyday life!
Attendance HERO“Here Everyday Ready On Time”
We encourage our students to be Attendance Hero’s, which stands for Here Everyday Ready On Time! Every day we have teachers submit their daily attendance. The classes with perfect attendance are put on our Attendance Hero wall. The classroom from every grade level with perfect attendance at the end of the month will be invited to our end of the month attendance celebration! We want our students to be excited to come to school and to know that attendance is very important. In order to learn we must be here everyday on time! Who will be our next Attendance Hero?
