A Century of Jewish Cinema in one showSun 13th March 3.30pm & 7.30pmTickets: £23

The Jews of Hollywood invented the ‘American Dream’. And they lived it! They came from shtetls, but ended up in Beverly Hills mansions. And they sold the world a ‘Technicolor’ fantasy version of American life.

Jewish Hollywood is a revue crammed full of songs that explores the reality as well as the glitz!

HAVA NAGILA, DON’T RAIN ON MY PARADE, MY YIDDISHE MOMME, TRADITION, SECOND HAND ROSE, THE WAY WE WERE, PUTTING ON THE RITZ, THEME FROM ‘EXODUS’ and many more...

It tells stories of ambition and sacrifice. What was the price paid for assimilation? How did the Jews of Hollywood confront anti-Semitism? How did the Holocaust change their depiction of Jews on-screen? How badly hit were they by the notorious blacklisting of the 1950s?

And what caused the rebirth of Jewish cinema in the 1960s – giving rise to stars like Barbra Streisand, Woody Allen and Bette Midler?

Fri 18th March 7.30pmTickets: £20

“What on earth do you do after that?” is the usual question once you climb a new route up Everest, reaching the top alone and without oxygen. For Stephen Venables, that historic success was just a cue for different experiences – new Himalayan peaks, arctic dog-sledging, film-making, desert journeys and fifteen sailing voyages to the snow mountains of Antarctica. In this enchanting slideshow, Stephen will share the fun, excitement, beauty – and the personal tragedies – that make his life a continuing adventure.

THE SHOW WHICH HAS SOLD OUT CADOGAN HALL ON ALL FOUR PREVIOUS OCCASIONS RETURNSThurs 17th March 7.30pmTickets: £25

Bandleader and clarinettist Pete Long (RonnieScott’s BigBand, Echoes of Ellington and sax star of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra) presents a superlative recreation of one of the greatest concerts in jazz history.

The sixteen musicians of “Pete Long and His Goodmen” will recreate Benny Goodman’s famous Carnegie Hall concert which took place on January 16th 1938.

Benny’s line up that evening included trumpeters Harry James and Ziggy Elman, drummer GeneKrupa and pianist Jess Stacey (who, it was said, stole the show with his great solo in Sing Sing Sing). It was also the first time that black and white jazz musicians appeared together on the concert stage in the USA with Lionel Hampton on vibes, Teddy Wilson on piano and stars of the Duke Ellington and Count Basie Orchestras making guest appearances.

At the original concert, the musicians played without amplification and the wonderful acoustics of The Radlett Centre make it possible for our anniversary concert to do likewise.

King Of Pop is led by the world’s greatest Michael Jackson tribute artist ‘Navi’, with his incredible live band and dancers.

Navi is the only tribute artist ever to be chosen by Michael Jackson himself. Michael personally gave Navi a standing ovation after he was invited to perform at one of MJ’s lavish birthday parties in Los Angeles. They remained friends, and due to Navi’s incredible resemblance to the star, Navi was regularly hired as an official body double and decoy to distract fans and press when Michael visited the UK.

Navi’s thrilling show will take you closer than ever imagined to an original Jackson concert. Don’t miss this outstanding production featuring hits such as Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Billie Jean, Black or White, Man In The Mirror and the ‘Jackson Five’ classics in a show suitable for the whole family.
