は じ め に
専修大学プロフィール 専修大学は1880年に創立され、本年136年の歴史を持つ人文・社会・情報科学系の7学部を有する高等教育機関です。 2015年度の学生数は、学部・大学院合わせて19,324名です。この中には留学生275名が含まれています。 本学には、主にアジア諸国からの留学生が学部や大学院に在籍しています。また、欧米諸国からは、国際交流協定校の留学生が交換プログラムに参加しています。 更に日本語や日本の文化を効果的に学びたいという留学生を広く受け入れるため、1年に4回の日本語・日本事情プログラムを開設しています。 1996年夏期コース開講以来62の国・地域、2,410名が受講しました。（2015年3月末日現在）
授業及び滞在場所 専修大学には2つのキャンパスがあります。東京の中心地に位置する神田キャンパスと東京に隣接する川崎市に位置する生田キャンパスです。 生田キャンパスは、東京副都心の新宿駅より急行電車で約25分の向ヶ丘遊園駅で下車して、徒歩で14分の所に位置しています。 日本語・日本事情プログラムの授業は、生田キャンパスで行われます。 プログラム参加者は、図書館や体育館、コンピュータルーム、食堂等の大学の施設を利用することができます。 滞在場所は、生田キャンパス近くに位置する留学生寮『専修大学国際交流会館』です。
プログラム概要
参加資格 12年の教育課程を修了した者もしくは大学生と同等の資格を有する者。
プログラム目標
確かな基礎力を養い、読む、書く、聞く、話す技能をバランス良く習得し、日本事情を理解すること。また、調査発表のタスクなどを通して運用力を養うこと。
クラスサイズ
各クラス6名〜12名を予定しておりますが、プレイスメントテストの結果によってクラスの人員に増減があります。

◆期間中の午後に数回、文化施設見学またはタスクワークを予定しています。 美術館、博物館、歌舞伎鑑賞、書道教室、鎌倉ツアー、企業見学、茶道教室（秋・冬のみ）、箱根ツアー（１泊２日、秋のみ）
◆希望者のみ２泊３日のホームビジットプログラムを行います。 ただし、ホームビジットはホストファミリーが決定した場合に限り実施します。 （実施運営会社 ホームステイインジャパン（株式会社ネクステージ））
プレイスメントテスト 来日前及び授業開始前にプレイスメントテストを行い、レベルに合わせてクラス分けを行います。詳細については、5ページの「応募方法」の箇所をご参照ください。
媒介語 授業の補足手段として使用する言語は、原則として英語のみとします。
修 了 所定の学習項目を修めた者には、修了証書及び成績証明書を発行します。

費用の支払いについて
プログラム費用は、受入れが承認されてからお送りする『受入通知書（請求書）』にしたがって、全額を銀行振り込みでお支払ください（小切手不可）。申込金（5,000円）を先にお支払いただく必要はありません。 なお、一度振り込まれた費用は、原則としてお返しできませんのでご注意ください。

自分で宿泊先を確保でき、通学される方については、滞在費は不要です。その場合、大学から宿泊先までの交通費は自己負担となります。
奨 学 金
このプログラムに参加するための奨学金はありません。

インフォメーション
査証（Visas）について
各プログラム参加に際しては、『留学』の査証が発給されませんので、申込者は『短期滞在』の査証を取得することになります。査証申請書と、費用支払い後に専修大学から送られる『受講許可書』に加えて、査証申請に必要な書類（パスポートや財政証明書等）をそろえて、最寄りの日本大使館又は領事館で申請を行ってください。申請後発給までに時間がかかる場合がありますので、余裕をもって手続きを行ってください。既に日本国内に他の査証で滞在していて、プログラム期間中もその査証で滞在が可能な者及び日本国との査証免除取決め国の国籍者は『短期滞在』の査証取得は不要です。詳細については必ず申込者本人が、最寄りの日本大使館又は領事館までお問い合わせください。その他大学からの必要書類がありましたら、至急連絡してください。 ※２期以上を継続して受講する場合は、外務省のホームページを参照してください。

日本到着について
プログラム参加者は原則として、各プログラムの日本到着日に各自で寮まで来てください。寮へはできるだけ各プログラム来日予定日の９：００am〜７：００pmの間に到着できるようフライトスケジュールを調整していただき、フライト便名及び空港到着時刻をお知らせください。（※注） その他、ご質問、ご要望等がありましたら遠慮なくお問い合わせください。
（※注） 『短期滞在』の査証取得が必要な場合には、大学が作成する査証申請書類にフライト情報（出発日時、出発地、到着便名・出国便名、到着地）が必要です。速やかにお知らせください。

保険及び医療について プログラム期間中の大きな怪我や病気、事故に備えて受入決定後来日前までに必ず適当な保険に加入し、『保険の加入証明書（写）』を提出してください。保険に加入していない人はこのプログラムに受入できません。日本滞在中における病気や怪我については、大学は一切責任を持ちませんので、身体や歯に故障がある場合には、来日前に治療を済ませておいてください。週末や休祝日以外であれば、大学の保健室で応急処置程度は行えますが、もし病院で治療を受けたり、薬を処方してもらうと大変高額な金額をご自身で負担しなければなりません。また病気になったとき、大学から指示があった場合は病院へ行ってください。指示に従えない場合は帰国してもらうこともあります。
所持金について 滞在費以外の毎日の食費、その他日常生活に要するさまざまな経費を考慮すると、およそ毎月60,000円〜80,000円程度ご用意いただくことをお勧めします。
◆現金 『短期滞在』の査証で入国している方は銀行口座を開設することができませんので、現金で持参すると良いでしょう。必要経費以外は寮にあるセーフティボックスで保管してください。パーソナルチェックや銀行為替手形は現金化するのが困難ですので避けてください。
◆グローバルATM 『VISA』または『Master Card』のクレジットカードをお持ちの方は、グローバルATMのキャッシングサービスを利用できます。グローバルATMは郵便局のほか、新宿、町田、大学構内などにあります。 また、セブン銀行でもCitibankやWooriBank等、クレジットカードのAMEX等も利用可です。
持ち物について 持ち物は必要最小限のものに留めてください。例えば、スーツケースとバックパック各々１個位が適当でしょう。気候は季節によって様々です。おおむね12月から２月までは寒さが厳しく、６月から８月まではかなり暑いですが、それ以外の季節は比較的過ごしやすいです。参加されるプログラムの季節を考えて、厚手の洋服または薄手の洋服、もしくは両方とも持参し、セーターも併せて準備されると便利だと思います。どの季節の洋服も日本で購入できますが、少し高いかもしれませんし、サイズの合った服を探すのが大変かもしれません。以下に、持参した方が良いと思われるものを示しておきますので、参考にしてください。 ◇辞書 ◇常備薬 ◇電気製品（ドライヤー、電気シェーバー等）100V ◇ノートパソコン（必須ではありませんが、大学のパソコン台数には限りがあり
ますので、持参することをお勧めします。）

※�秋期プログラムでの小休暇中やプログラム終了後に旅行する予定のない人は必要ありません。
（注意）枕、毛布やシーツは寮に用意されておりますので、持参する必要はありません。
寮生活について プログラム参加者は原則として、大学の寮に１室２名で滞在することになります。食事は提供しませんが、寮には、食器はもちろん冷蔵庫やＩＨクッキングヒーター・電子レンジ・炊飯器・トースター等の調理器具が備え付けられております。また、シャワールームや公衆電話、洗濯機・乾燥機（有料）、スチームアイロンも完備しております。 フライトスケジュール等の都合で、プログラム開始前または終了後に宿泊を希望する場合は、最長３泊まで延長できますのでお問い合わせください。大学の基準に基づいて、別途宿泊費を申し受けます。
キャンパス生活について 授業終了後（12：50）は、午後のスケジュールがなければ自由です。自由時間には専修大学生と交流したり、キャンパス内施設（図書館や体育館、プール、トレーニングルーム、コンピュータルーム、ブックストア、食堂等）を利用することができます。 施設については利用規則に従ってご利用ください。また、施設によっては希望どおり利用できない場合がありますので、予めご了承ください。

Introduction
University Profile
Senshu University is a 136-year old institution of higher education founded at the dawn of modern Japan. The total number of students enrolled is 19,324 (2015) including 275 international students. In the past many students, mainly from Asia, enrolled in the school’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Others from both Asian and Western countries, entered in the exchange programs. In order to increase the number of international students who wish to learn the Japanese language and culture, we began providing four programs throughout the year. Since the summer of 1996, there have been 2,410 people from 62 different countries and regions that have participated in these programs as of March 31, 2015.
Location
Senshu University has two campuses, one at Kanda in the center of Tokyo, and the other at Ikuta, a suburb of the city (approximately 25 minutes by express train from Shinjuku plus a 14 minute walk from the station). Japanese Language & Culture classes are given at the Ikuta campus. Program participants can use the university facilities such as the library, gymnasium, computer rooms, cafeterias and so forth. Program participants stay at the International Students' Dormitory, called “Senshu International House”, located near the Ikuta campus.
Program Outline
Qualifications
Applicants must have completed 12 years of schooling or hold a status equivalent to that of a university/college student.
Purpose of the Program
This program aims to equip students with basic Japanese as well as over-all language communication skills and some knowledge of Japanese culture. Also, by conducting research and giving presentations in Japanese, participants' working knowledge of Japanese will be improved.
Class Size
Each class has 6-12 students. Class size is subject to change depending on the results of placement tests.

Placement Test

Should a supplementary language be necessary for explanation during the Japanese class, English will be the only other language used.
Completion
Certificates and Grade Reports are given to participants who satisfactorily complete the required program work for each term.

Mailing the documents
Application must be received on or before the deadline.
■ A placement test form will be sent to each applicant.
Returning the placement test sheet
A placement test should be completed and returned to us by the designated date. It can be sent by fax prior to mailing the original.
■ Based on your placement test results and our dormitory capacity, you will be notified whether or not you have been accepted to the program that you applied for. (＊Note)
Paying the program cost
Payment must be made by the deadline. Upon receipt of our notice of acceptance, please pay the entire program cost by
wire to the bank account mentioned on the notice of acceptance. “Health insurance policy (copy)” must be submitted. ■ A “Letter of Acceptance” and A “Letter of Guarantee” will be mailed
to each participant upon receipt of the entire program amount.Obtaining a visa

Payment Method Wire transfer of payments should be made to the bank account designated on the notice of acceptance letter. Unfortunately, credit cards or personal checks can not be accepted.Please note that you do not have to pay the application fee (5,000yen) prior to receiving your notice of acceptance. Amounts paid are non-refundable.
Program costs include the following ◇ Tuition, textbooks and materials ◇ University Facility Fee ◇ Transportation and admission fees for field trips to places of cultural interest, etc., and
expenses for task assignments including: museums, kabuki play, Japanese calligraphy lesson, one-day trip to Kamakura, company visit, tea ceremony (Fall＆Winter terms), overnight trip to Hakone (Fall term).

Program costs do not include the following(if you stay in the dorm)

◇ Transportation to and from the university dorm or the airport (e.g. busfare, trainfare, airfare, etc.). ◇ Luggage delivery service fees (if applicable). ◇ Expenses for medical care and insurance. ◇ Personal costs such as entertainment or additional travel expenses. ◇ Accommodation fees (should you request housing before or after the program dates). ◇ Travel expenses during the Home Visit (refering only to the Home Visit participants).
If you can make your own arrangements for accommodations, such as staying with a family you know in Japan for the whole program period, you will not have to pay the housing cost. In this case, please note that you will have to pay the necessary expenses for the home stay and the transportation fee for the commute between the university and your chosen place of residence.
Scholarships
Senshu University offers no scholarships for Japanese Language & Culture program.

Information
Visas
College Student visas will not be given to participants in this program. Therefore you must obtain a Temporary Visitor visa. Senshu University will send each applicant a “Letter of Acceptance” and other documents upon receipt of the total cost for the program. You will be expected to prepare the necessary documents by yourself. To obtain a visa, please check the appropriate application procedure in accordance with the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence. Because obtaining a visa may take time, it is recommended that preparations be started early and that prompt attention be given to all application procedures. A Temporary Visitor visa is not necessary if you are an applicant who is presently residing in Japan and who holds a visa which will remain valid throughout the duration of the program, or if you are a citizen of a country which has a visa exemption agreement with Japan. For more details, you should address your inquiries to the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country.

Arrival
You are supposed to come to the university dormitory by yourself. If you are able to, please try to arrange your flight schedule so that you arrive at the university dormitory between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the arrival date specified for each term. Please let us know your flight schedule once it has been determined. Do not hesitate to contact us about any inquiries or requests.

For students from countries which do not have a visa waiver program with Japan, flight information including date and time of arrival / departure as well as port of embarkation and carrier are required. For smooth and fast approval please send this information ASAP.
Health Care & Insurance
When you have been accepted to the program, you are required to purchase appropriate health insurance and submit the “Health insurance policy(copy)” before your departure to be eligible for program participation. If you do not meet this requirement, we will refuse to allow you to participate in our program. All participants are responsible for any kind of health problems or injuries during their stay in Japan. Before coming to Japan, any medical and dental treatment should be fully taken care of. After arriving, all charges for any diagnosis of illness at a hospital and prescribed medicine must be paid by the participants. You are eligible to use the Student Health Center of Senshu University on campus for minor illnesses or injuries. Please note that medical care at the Student Health Center is limited, and is unavailable on weekends or during school vacations. If you should become ill during your stay in Japan, please follow the recommendations of the staff and seek medical attention if you are directed to do so. If you become ill and are unwilling to follow the directions of the staff, you may be asked to return to your home country to protect the health of the other students with whom you are living.
Finances
Financial problems can cause difficulties in your studies. You should plan your budget to meet all your anticipated living expenses including meals and other charges. We recommend that you bring sufficient funds for around 60,000 yen - 80,000 yen per month.
◆ Cash As foreigners cannot open a bank account unless they stay in Japan more than six
months and complete alien registration at a ward/city office, you are advised to bring most of your funds in adequate cash or check that your ATM or credit card will work here (see below). A safe-deposit box is avaiiable to each of you in the dorm for your valuables or cash. Personal checks, bank drafts or money orders are extremely difficult to cash so do not rely upon them.
◆ The Global ATM The Global ATM is able to provide cash advances if you have a VISA, Master Card
or other major credit card. All major debit / ATM cards will work in this ATM (Please inquire with your financial institution.). The Global ATM are located at a post office near the dormitory, and at other locations near Shinjuku and Machida stations; and on campus. You may use credit cards from such banks as Citibank, WooriBank, AMEX, etc, at the ATM located in 7/11 (Seven Bank, Ltd.).

Packing
Bring only essentials with you. For example, one big suitcase and one back pack. The weather here is variable: mostly cold from December-February (15°C - 0°C), warm in June and hot and humid in August (25°C - 33°C) and relatively comfortable in other seasons. Select the type of clothes and coats depending on the season for the terms you will be attending. Sweaters will come in handy. Although all types of clothing are available here, they might be expensive to buy, and some larger sizes are unavailable. Here are some suggestions about what to bring: ◇ Dictionaries ◇ Prescription medicines (be sure to bring original containers and prescriptions.) ◇ Electrical appliances (a hair dryer, electric razor and so on) Japanese electric
current is 100V here. ◇ Laptop computer (not required, but recommended.) ◇ An umbrella ◇ Towels ◇ Pictures of your family, school items and some souvenirs typical of your
country for introducing yourself ◇ Small gifts and pictures of your country, family, etc. ◇ Comfortable walking shoes and/or athletic shoes for gym and exercise ◇ Bathing suits for use for the swimming pool (One-piece swim suits are
advisable for women for use at school facilities) and swimming cap ◇ Semi-formal attire for attending parties ◇ Japanese socks “tabi” or white socks (if you wish to experience the tea ceremony) ◇ IC recorder for lauguage practice (not required, but recommended.) ◇ Japan Rail Pass This pass allows you to take unlimited trips on JR lines, JR buses and ferries
for a period of one or two weeks. The Exchange Order (Ticket) should be purchased outside Japan before your departure. More information is supplied by local travel agents in your country such as Japan Airlines, JTB, Kinki Nippon Tourist, Nippon Travel Agency, etc.
＊ Participants who are not going to travel during the break in the programs or after the program ends do not need to purchase this pass.
〈Note〉 You do not need to bring pillows, blankets or sheets with you since the dormitory provides you with these items.

Dormitory Facilities Basically, participants stay at the Senshu International House with one other person (2 people to a room). No meals are served by the university. The dormitory has a kitchen equipped with refrigerators, IH cookers, microwave ovens, rice cookers and toasters as well as shower rooms, a pay phone, laundromat & dryers, and a steam iron. If necessary, you can stay at the dormitory for three additional nights both before and/or after the starting and ending dates of the program, for an additional fee. If you would like to do this, please notify the office staff as soon as possible.

Campus Facilities
Participants are free after 12:50 p.m. unless classes are scheduled in the afternoon. In your free time, you can spend time with Senshu students and use campus facilities such as the library, gymnasium, swimming pool, training room, computer rooms, bookstore, cafeterias, etc. These facilities have their own rules and you will be expected to observe them. You should bear in mind that these facilities may sometimes be unavailable when they are being used for classes and by members of Senshu sports teams.
