Congregational Meeting - McClure United Church on Sunday, October 20

One worship service only at 10 am - Meeting to begin at 11am

PURPOSE OF THE MEETING:

Since beginning their search in the spring of 2018, the McClure United Church Joint Search Committee has been unsuccessful in finding a suitable candidate to match the JNAC job description for a Minister and Renewal. At this time, they are recommending “that the Needs Assessment Process should be revisited, to confirm the needs of our community of faith”.

At the same time, our financial status as a congregation is the cause of some concern. When the search process began for a Minister of Worship and Renewal (3 year term), it was indicated that McClure’s Reserve Funds would need to be utilized to keep the congregation afloat for the 3 year commitment if givings did not increase. At this point in time, our expenditures continue to exceed our income, leading us to rely on our reserve funds as predicted.

An information package will be made available prior to the meeting, beginning Sunday Oct 6, both at worship and on the website.

Supper Church on Wednesday, October 2 at 5:30pm is Thanksgiving themed and we are looking for images of thanksgiving and gratitude to include in the PowerPoint. Please your images of thanksgiving and gratitude to Laura at [email protected] by 5pm Tuesday.

at Holy Spirit Parish –

7:00pm

The Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish and

McClure United Church Congregation continue to

live out our covenant relationship as established in

March of 2000.

As part of our commitment to caring for our

relationship everyone is invited to a casual

evening of hymn singing, prayer and visiting. We

will sing some universal and denominational

favorites. We may even try out a new hymn or

two.

SPECIAL THANKSGIVING OPPORTUNITY!!

This Thanksgiving I would be most appreciative if five people would be willing to share for two minutes some of the things they are thankful for in their lives. It may be predictable thanks such as we have for families or turkey suppers; it may be unique thanks for a special opportunity or piece of work; it may be thanks for precious memories or for being supported in grief; it may be thanks for something challenging in which you found new meaning; it may be thanks for a way in which you’ve experienced God in your life. If you are willing to share your thankfulness for a couple of minutes please contact Brian at [email protected] or leave your name at the office. I will call you to chat about your willingness to share.

Magazine Collection

"McClure Church collects magazines for reuse at St

Pauls Hospital and the Foodbank Literacy Centre.

Collection is usually the first Sunday of each month

and begins on October 6th. Please place your

magazines into the boxes in the back of the vehicle

parked close to the western most doors (old entry)

of the church. This is for recent good quality

magazines that you would let your Mother read.

Chop’n’Chat- a volunteer opportunity

With help of the Mission and Service fund,

The United Church supports ICM, a community

ministry, on Ave V. Integrated Community

Ministries works to establish relationships with

those living in poverty. Each Wednesday,

community folks work with church volunteers to

prepare a nutritious meal. Neighbors drop in for

lunch and to visit. McClure and Holy Spirit are

providing volunteers during four weeks in

October. Could you help chop vegetables, prepare

food, and clean up? You get a fabulous lunch and

meet interesting people! You do not bring any

food; you just show up from 10 am – 2 pm and

pitch in. Sign up on the bulletin board.
