The Presidential AddressHello Members! With school back in session and the clouds and rain out in full force, it seems that autumn is here in Germany! Although I miss the sun during this time of year, the changing fall colors and the pumpkin flavored everything absolutely make it worth it! August was a bit of a slower month for RESA activities due to summer break winding down, but we still made a huge impact in our community! A few of our Executive Board members had the opportunity to ‘Pay it Forward’ to some of our community members by paying for their gas at four of our local military installations. The surprise on their faces and the hugs and thanks we received was incredible! It’s so much fun to see our hard-earned money directly affecting our local community members! We also had the opportunity to recognize the spouses at the Senior NCO Induction Ceremony this month. Each female

spouse was presented with a small flower bouquet and the male spouses were presented with a RESA coin. They were all very thankful for us thinking of them. We all know that being an Enlisted spouse is not the easiest task, so it’s nice to give back to them once in a while too! Our August social was combined with the Deployed Spouses event, and we sure did have a blast! It was a great turn out and the weather held out for us, thankfully! I think it’s safe to say that all attendees, both RESA families and deployed families, really enjoyed themselves. I love this event because it’s the one time of year we really get to interact with each other’s families in a social setting. A huge thank you goes out to our Social Chair and Co-Chair Ms. Victoria and Ms. Eva, as well as Ms. Olivia and Ms. Tonoya for all the hard work they put into making the event a huge success for both RESA members and the families of our deployed Air Force members. Also on the subject of socials, don’t forget about the date change for our September Oktoberfest social, which will be on Wednesday, September 17, as the first day of our lemonade stand at the Welfare Bazaar will be on that Thursday. Please see the attached flyer for RSVP and information on brining guests. We hope to see you all dressed up in your dirndls and lederhosen on Wednesday, then squeezing lemons on Thursday! And it’s also about time to start getting geared up for Quartermania, which will be held during our November social. Information has been included in this newsletter and more will be going out in the coming weeks, so keep your eye out! And finally, nominations and elections for the 2015 Executive Board are quickly approaching! Nominations will begin at the September social and will wrap up with elections at the October social. Be sure to check your emails for information on all the Board Positions, and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions! I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather! I look forward to seeing what September holds for our fantastic organization! Sincerely, Nicole

Volunteer of the Month

We here at RESA have always valued our volunteers. Aside from the regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly events noted in the calendar, we would love to hear from our membership of any local

organizations or events in which RESA can participate. Contact any member of the board at the next social or send an email to [email protected] for further discussion.

Did you Know? • Volunteers receive quarterly recognition in the

form of BX gift cards based on the amount of hours donated:

Up to 10 hrs = $5 Min 60 hrs = $50 Min 15 hrs = $10 Min 75 hrs = $62.50 Min 30 hrs = $25 Min 90 hrs = $75 Min 45 hrs = $37.50 *Max $150 • For every hour you volunteer in the RESA

Thrift Shop, you earn one Thrift Shop Buck that can be used toward your next RESA Thrift Shop purchase.

• Childcare reimbursement is available to members while attending volunteer functions. Reimbursements are based off the current childcare rates at the Ramstein CDC.

• In lieu of being paid, another RESA member may elect to earn volunteer hours watching the children of a RESA member who is volunteering for an event that childcare would otherwise be reimbursable for at the rate of one hour per child, per hour watched.

• Committee chairs (lemonade stand, gift wrapping, etc.) receive gift cards in amounts specified in the By-Laws.

• Travel to and from volunteer events (up to 15 minutes each way) count toward your volunteer hours.

Save the date of November 20th for RESA's Social! Quarter Mania is a fast pace, fun filled event. It is a cross between an auction, bingo, and a raffle

where you “bid” with quarters to try and win the product that is being displayed. All items will be donated by you!

You can win great prizes for quarters…throw in light hors d’oeuvres, raffles, some good company, and a great cause – and everyone is a winner!

Are you an Independent Consultant and have extra products to donate? How about a craft you enjoy making? Do you have a service you’re willing to provide like babysitting or pet sitting? How about

“baking” your donation? RESA is asking members to donate a gift that will be auctioned during our November Social!

We’ll be bidding with quarters and all monies raised will support the Angel Trees in the KMC. For further info and/or to donate, please contact Victoria at [email protected]
