4-H NEWS

Hello 4-Her’s and 4-H families,

Time is moving quickly and here we are at the beginning of another 4-H year! Happy 2014-2015 everyone! Every club was successfully chartered and enrollment on 4-H Connect is open for everyone! The 4-H County Council officers sponsored at Kickoff party last month and everyone had a great time playing a real life murder mystery game. Thank you to all the officers for doing a great job planning the party! Please remember all club voting delegates are required to attend at least 3 County council meetings to vote in May but ALL club members are welcome!

Brand new for this 4-H year is a 4-H ANNUAL EVENT CALENDAR! Take a look on page 3 to find the calendar for all County, District, and other important dates for project competitions and 4-H events. Please start planning your projects early! And don’t forget about Achievement Night! Club managers can pick up tickets at the Extension office or anyone can come by to purchase. Please submit any silent auction items to Janice Ciomperlik.

On a sad note, we will be saying goodbye to Barbara Storz, our Horticulturist. Ms. Barbara will be retiring from Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service with 16 years of service! Congratulations to Barbara and we thank her for all her hard work and knowledge that she has passed down to the Hidalgo County 4-H youth. She will be dearly missed!

We are very excited to start a new year with great events coming up! We encourage everyone to participate and let’s make this the best 4-H year yet! As always, thank you to the parents and volunteers that help make us 4-H strong! Please contact the Extension office for questions and we are here to help you with any of your project needs.

Sincerely,

Brad Cowan, County Extension Agent
