Issue 7, September 2014
Welcome back to all our boys and girls... With the 2014-15 academic year freshly underway, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new boys
and girls, as well as those returning after the long summer break. Already the term is off to a fantastic start with our
Year 7s having enjoyed a bonding trip to the Forest of Dean, and we have lots of exciting events coming up over this
half term, including Marquee Week.
The summer has seen exciting refurbishments take place around the school site, with various areas including the
Nursery School, Junior School and the Sixth Form wi-fi café receiving a face lift. New facilities have also been
provided, including a state of the art Design and Innovation classroom and a specialised Eco classroom complete
with animals! We look forward to the students enjoying these new spaces throughout the rest of the Autumn Term.
We cannot mention the summer without of course highlighting the outstanding A Level and GCSE results achieved
by our students. We are extremely proud of them all and we would like to offer our congratulations to the 2014 A
Level and GCSE students. Once again, welcome back to Clifton High School, and enjoy the term ahead!

Year 7 Go Bonding! The bonding trip took the Year 7s to the Forest of Dean, where they stayed overnight in a YHA youth hostel in the picturesque area of Welsh Bicknor. Over the two days some exciting team building and bonding activities took place, such as rock climbing, caving, canoeing and mountain biking. There was also an evening activity which included a night walk through an ancient tunnel which encouraged pupils to work as a team. Happy smiley faces returned to school on the Friday with new friendships formed and current friendships developed further. A hugely successful trip.
Clifton High School Family and Friends Ticket Swim
We will be continuing the Family and Friends Ticket Swim for the Autumn Term 2014.
Books of tickets are now available from the CHS Finance Office; price £30 for a book of twelve tickets.
Cheques should be made payable to: Sport Education Ltd.
Please ensure that you purchase tickets before attending and be aware that
terms and conditions apply.
This will be the last term that we will be running the Family and Friends Ticket swim. We have been monitoring the demand since 2012 and ticket sales have
not increased enough to cover the costs of running the pool.
