Y ou need to know how to navigate through crisis and maintain your equilibrium when life spins out of control. It is not a matter of

IF you will ever have a crisis but WHEN. As you know, the word “crisis” means turning point. Good things can come out of a crisis. God uses crisis to create a HUNGER. Hunger puts us on a SEARCH. The search brings us to a REVELA-TION. The revelation leads us to a higher REALI-ZATION. Depending on your attitude, you can become better or bitter. If we do not change and correct certain things voluntarily, we’ll be forced to deal with them involuntarily. One thing is sure: God will not pro-tect your deficiencies forever! A crisis can have several components:

It can be personal. It can be a diversion to hinder you from

doing what you are called to do. It can marginalize the impact of your life. It can seduce you into disfavor with God

because of your anger against Him for allow-ing something negative to happen to you!

So when you experience a crisis, get control of your-self so you can get control of the situation.

By Bishop Dale C. Bronner

Dealing With Dealing With Dealing With Crisis

In Your LifeIn Your LifeIn Your Life 1. Go back to the BASICS -What is your biblical worldview? What are your core values? What are your core purposes? Keep the main thing, the main thing! Look within. Search the Scripture. 2. Find a wholesome way to relieve your stress! Frustration often causes a person to make poor deci-sions. We make poor food choices when we are frus-trated. We choose things that are loaded with salt and sugar. Because we are upset during frustrating mo-ments, we seek comfort. So some seek their comfort through pleasant tasting food! Other times comfort is sought by reverting to the last thing that made them feel good. So those who were chemically addicted are highly prone to having a relapse with drugs! Still oth-ers turn to people who have the ability to “make them feel good.” So it is not uncommon for a person to go back to an unhealthy relationship, only seeking com-fort. You see, frustration causes mental and emotional agony. So we naturally look for ways to anesthetize our pain. We are simply trying to find a way to escape what is ailing us! So stop and ask yourself, “Where do I turn to escape the pain of frustration in my life?” Whenever you are frustrated, you’ll discover that you are tempted to find a carnal resolve to your frustration. But there is a wholesome alternative to escape your frustration. You have to find it, though. Life has no problems, only opportunities.

From the Bishop’s Desk

Page 5: September/October 2012...tation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation

Word of Faith Times - page 5

3. Think—Think about what has frustrated you and why. Ask yourself, “Will this matter to me 20 years from now?” Frustration is temporary! The more you mature, the more you are able to discern what is important and what is trivial! Think about the fact that while you are frustrated, you are still blessed in other areas! Think about the frustration and ask, “How much of my frustration is based on truth and how much is based on my perceptions/feelings?” Then ask, “What/who is my being frustrated helping or hurting?” Then ask, “How can I be inspired to re-spond in a better way?” Ask, “Is my feeling/acting this way really necessary? Finally ask, “Is my frustra-tion killing my opportunity to be kind and show the character of Christ? You will never live above the level of your thinking. So to change your life, change your thinking! Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” 4. Plan—Have a backup plan. Develop a rapid re-sponse strategy. How will you communicate with your family/friends? You don’t get what you want in life; you get what you prepare for. Have a vision, a strategy, and a contingency plan.

Remember I Corinthians10:13? “There hath no temp-tation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Have an escape plan already prepared! You must anticipate that there will be enemies and haters in your life! The Promise Land has enemies! Plan for resistant forces! Hope is not a plan!!! Planning re-quires thought and forethought. God gave Gideon a plan to defeat the Midianites. God gave Joshua a plan to bring down the walls of Jericho. You must plan ahead to keep your mouth shut! You must plan to walk away if you feel yourself becoming overheated! Fail-ure to plan is a plan for failure! Planning helps you to control changes—to adjust your sails, to work with the wind rather than against it. Louis Pasteur said, “In the field of observation, chance favors only the pre-pared mind.” 5. Get counsel from someone not currently involved in the crisis. Bring in skilled people. Develop partners outside your sphere of crisis. Accept loss and learn from it. You win some and you learn some!

T he trip to Jerusalem, the Holy Land, was a trip of a lifetime and a dream come true. It was spectacular. The Bible just came alive! We walked through the Garden of Gethesemane where Jesus was arrested; we visited

the Garden tomb where Jesus (Yeshua) was buried and rose for our salvation! The Olive Trees in the Garden were so beautiful. We had service there with Joseph Prince. God’s awesome pres-ence was there. To stand on the Mountaintop overlook-ing Nazareth was an unspeakable joy. To see the City of Bethlehem was awesome. To walk down the road that Jesus carried the cross was very moving. We saw differ-ent Church groups carrying a cross down the route. To see the view from Mount Carmel, where Elijah was vic-torious over the people of Baal was the most breath tak-ing view my eyes have ever seen. The Sea of Galilee was so beautiful. It was surrounded by mountains. We took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. I imagined Jesus saying, “Cross over to the other side”, and seeing Jesus walking on water and telling Peter to come. We were baptized in the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized by His cousin, John the Bap-tist. Floating in the Dead Sea was a wonderful ex-perience. Seeing the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) was a great experience. People were crying, weep-ing, wailing and praying. The location is considered to be the most Holy place in Jerusalem. Seeing the Mediterranean Sea from Caesarea was awesome. We had church service there with Joseph Prince. We saw Paul Crouch, sponsor of TBN pass the business torch to his son, Matt and his wife, Laurie. If you are a true believer and reader of God’s Word, then this is a trip that is worth any sacrifice that you can make. Everything was wonderful. It was truly an awesome experience. To see the green terrain growing in the desert was a testimony in itself that what’s impossible for man is possible with our God. If you take this trip, I recommend comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and Ben Gay (muscle relaxer). Daily walking is required. I feel so blessed to have been able to go to Israel with my mother, Word of Faith members and my new Aqua Bus #30 friends. We had an awesome Tour Guide, Ronny Simon (Historian) and an exceptional Bus Driver, Zion. Thank you Bishop for giving us an opportunity to experience something so wonderful.

Grow Yourself Successful

H ow are you growing? It is said that you are either green and growing or ripe and rotten. About five years ago, I found

myself stuck in a rut. I was unsure of my pur-pose and unemployed. One Sunday morning, I had an “ah ha moment” while listening to Bishop speak about purpose. His message made me pinpoint the one thing that I do the best. Thereafter, I began to get serious about making a living doing what I was born to do. My chal-lenge was to figure out how I could teach peo-ple how to look good and feel good about themselves. I stumbled upon a concept called personal branding. Personal branding is a prac-tice that allows you to package that one thing that you do best and market yourself as a brand. Today, I find myself immersed in doing that which I was truly born to do and getting paid to do so. Since a closed mouth does not get fed, a key element in business is to have a 7 sec-ond elevator pitch. Your eleva-tor pitch is something that you succinctly say about what you do and who you are with the hopes of capturing the lis-tener’s attention. My pitch goes like this: Hello, my name is Paula Palmer Green. I am a Certi-fied Life Coach and Motiva-tional Teacher. I can help you grow personally and professionally so that you can turn your dream into green.

After hearing my pitch, it is hoped that you will want to know how I can turn your dream into green. I travel the country conducting empowerment workshops and meeting with people one on one. Recently, I wrote a book titled: Grow Yourself Successful. My book is based on the premise that success is merely embrac-ing the plans God has for your life. My book, Grow Yourself Successful is an easy to read practical guide filled with pertinent informa-tion. Inspirational stories, quotes and self discovery exercises will empower you to look within to claim a life filled with meaning, purpose, power and

peace. Some of the topics covered includes:

Indentify/embrace your life’s purpose Reassess your current life situation Reinvent yourself to be more influential Set goals to live life more fully Create affirmations to propel you to your destiny Craft a Personal Brand & Vision Statement Learn how to dress to gain

instant credibility

Remember, you are changed by the books you read, places you go and people you meet. If you want to grow personally and professionally so that

Drama ministry

T his ministry is designed to give glory to God, take the gospel to the streets, auditoriums, and

even to other churches by way of drama. This is a powerful visual tool that enables the unbeliever to see God’s love reaching out to them through our dramatic and anointed Drama Team. Rev. Charles Black-shear, CEO (Corporate Evangelistic Outreach) Ministry Leader, shared this information about the history of the ministry. “The CEO ministry had its debut production in January of 2003 in the Sam's building across the street (future home of WOF Family Life Center). Our first production was a comedy entitled “Laughter in De-mand”. Secondly, we did a more seri-ous production, “Only the Strong Survive.” Since those early days, the team has produced, “Ponder the Gift”, “Mama, Can You Hear Me Now?”, “Laughter in Demand II & III” and “The Judgment.” Typically, the drama team does two productions per year and invites anyone with act-ing ability to join. The Drama Team is a part of the Corporate Evangelistic Outreach (CEO) which includes; In-tercessory Prayer, Altar Workers, Street Outreach, Cornucopia and the Prison Ministry.

“I’ve been a well-adjusted amputee of my right leg (above the knee) for 34 years. In January 2011, I fell on my amputated side, broke my hip and femur in two places which caused pulmo-nary embolism. Despite, six months of physical therapy, I was still on crutches and became obese (only 5’4” and 189 pounds). After watching an episode of Dr. Oz on weight loss, I decided to take my life back. Convinced that losing weight and getting stronger was the answer to my health problems, I joined Weight Watchers and the journey began! My personal trainer had me working out three times a week in spite of my many limitations. The fried foods were cut out, diet soda was cut back, and my water intake was expanded. My daily regimen included; four veggies, three fruits, two lean meats and only two starches per day. “Lite” seasonings and apple cider vinegar or olive oil for salad dress-ing. THE WEIGHT STARTED COMING OFF! My body became stronger and I went from using two crutches to one. Today, I weigh under 155 pounds and only use my cane! It all started with a decision. There were considerable excuses for me not to im-prove my health: age-49 years old, amputee for 34 years, injury to my hip, femur and on and on. It’s not easy and you may fall along the way, but don’t give up on your dreams. Instead: get up, keep moving, and use what you have to get what you want.”

“Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” Romans 12:13

NN othing says “comfort food” like the flavorful choices offered by the WOF Hospitality Minis-try. Ministry Leader, Selena Peoples, who organizes and oversees food services, says, “our goal is to serve God’s people in an inviting atmosphere and with an attitude of love.” The

team is focused on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those who come to be fed by providing good food in a welcoming environment. The selections are visually appealing, nutritious and are pro-duced in a sanitary and orderly kitchen. The Hospitality Team works like a well-oiled machine: prepar-ing food, setting up, serving and most importantly, cleaning up! Ultimately, they serve as the welcom-ing arm of the church, showing brotherly love to one another, taking on the nature of God.

Facts About Breast Cancer

Can I prevent breast cancer? The causes of breast cancer are not fully un-derstood. Although it is clear that age, gender and lifetime exposure to estrogen and other factors play an important role. Because no one knows exactly what causes breast cancer to develop in a certain person at a certain time, there are no sure ways to prevent it. However, there are steps that you can take that may re-duce your risk. These include: maintaining a healthy weight, adding exercise into your rou-tine, limiting alcohol intake and postmeno-pausal hormones, and breastfeeding if you can. For women at higher risk, taking ta-moxifen or raloxifene may reduce the risk of estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer.

Brushing your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day remains a critical component to maintaining a healthy smile. Studies have shown that brushing for two minutes is perhaps the single most important step an individual can take to reduce plaque build-up and the risk of plaque-associated diseases, such as cavities and gingivitis. Proper flossing or interdental cleaning removes plaque and food particles in places where a toothbrush cannot easily reach—under the gumline and between your teeth. Because plaque build-up can lead to tooth decay and gum disease, daily flossing is highly recommended. Floss-ing is an essential part of the tooth-cleaning process because it removes plaque from between teeth and at the gumline, where periodontal disease often begins. Any product or technique that can demonstra-bly make flossing easier will be more likely to make it actually happen! There are many different types of floss (besides waxed or unwaxed) with different thicknesses, filaments and coatings. Brushing and flossing disrupt plaque on the teeth and gums, but teeth make up only less than half of your mouth. Rinsing your mouth each day with an anti-microbial mouth rinse is another important step in prevent-ing the gum disease known as gingivitis. To kill plaque and gingivitis germs that brushing leaves be-hind, be sure to finish your oral care routine with an antiseptic mouthwash with the ADA Seal of Ac-ceptance. Speak with your dental hygienist for more information on which mouth rinse is right for you.

Who gets breast cancer? Anyone can get breast cancer. For example, did you know… • The older a woman, the more

likely she is to get breast cancer? • Young women can get breast can-

cer, even in their 20s? • White women are more likely to

get breast cancer than women of any other racial or ethnic group?

• African American women are more likely to die from breast cancer than white women?

• Men can get breast cancer. Out of every one hundred cases of breast cancer, one will occur in a man.

Am I at risk for breast cancer? All women are at risk for breast cancer. Known risk factors like having a family history of breast cancer, starting meno-pause after age 55 or never having children account for only a small number of new breast cancer cases every year.

EE ver wonder what all is entailed with the recording of our weekly worship service? WOF Times went be-hind the scenes to discover who performs the monumental task of capturing the anointing of the Holy Spirit sending it around the world. What appears to be a series of technical button-pushing and count-

downs, is in fact, an ever-changing tool of evangelism. Research studies show that in addition to the millions of people who watch Television Ministry, there is a growing community of those who rely on the internet for spiri-tual needs. Our WOF skilled professionals communicate the gospel via technology by bringing ministry to those who are unable to attend a live service. Pastor Christopher Boyd, WOF Executive Pastor, added “Each Sunday we stream LIVE to more than 6,000 households around the world. Because of the profound nature in which Bishop Bronner speaks and the depth of information that he shares, it is not always possible for everyone to capture every-thing. As a result, I often post sermon notes to the streaming audience during the live service. Most times I intro-duce myself as someone who is in the Sanctuary just so that viewers feel as though someone inside the church is

The ANNOUNCEMENTS TEAM, all professional voice-over artists, serve as the voice of WOF, keeping the congregation informed of news, events and everything on the Cathedral’s radar! Linda Hensel, charter member of WOF, says that they are “blessed and honored to share their talents with the congregation.”

“Ye are the Light of the World. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a

candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick;

and giveth light unto all that are in the house.” Matthew 5:14-15

AUDIO TEAM (L-R): Dion Jones, Mike Darden &

Darron McKnight

The Audio Team is primarily responsible for delivering the Bishop’s message with clarity and precision. Michael “Mike” Darden serves as the Production Coordinator/Front House Technician. Dion Jones is the audio engineer and studio broadcast tech-nician. Darron McKnight works in the capacity of Youth Church Audio Technician. The audio team performs the most strategic assignments: setting up sound equipment, performing sound checks, loading music, controlling sound reinforcement equip-ment, setting levels of maintenance of microphones and other equipment. Mike Darden adds, “We provide audio for every rehearsal, event and ministry of Word of Faith, including outreach. Our team strives to accomplish our best with each and every service to ensure that the WOF message is received with power and excel-lence. If one person can hear and receive the message of Christ – it’s all worth it.”

communicating directly with them and caring for them. Doing this helps the ministry moni-tor the needs of those who view from outside the church, so that we can respond in a timely way when problems arise and in a thoughtful way when helping to provide clarity about something that is said or done in the live at-mosphere.” The Technical Ministry Leader, Dr. Donzalia Rogers explains that “A lot has to happen before the WOF worship service can be broadcast from Atlanta and around the world.” Some of those tasks include: receiv-ing, updating and inputting Praise & Worship lyrics, downloading and verifying the clarity of all church announcements, creating the Bishop’s Power Point presentations, down-loading video clips when necessary, provid-ing the message titles to the Resource Minis-try to preprint CDs and DVDs, verification of audio levels for recording CD, DVD, MP3 files and Streaming Faith, loading preprinted media for master recordings, editing video content, transcribing messages and perform-ing quality control for Streaming Faith. Check list completed? Hardly. Just a smidgen of the numerous duties entrusted to the teams who bring the Word of Faith message to the Mid-dle East, North Africa, Europe, North Amer-ica and Australia (via geostationary satel-lites). And, by the way, that’s in English and Arabic! Committed to their mission, members of the Video and Sound/Light Ministries and Announcements Team give of their time and expertise, 52 weeks a year.
