• What does it look like to “struggle” in prayer for someone? (see 1:29-2:1) • How does Paul describe Christ in verse 3? What does that mean and can you think of some

other verses that support what this verse is saying? • What are some persuasive arguments that we hear today against Jesus and the authority of

the Bible? (v.4) How is Jesus greater than the deceptions of the world? (2:4-7) • What are some things Paul commends this church for in verse 5? • What is the significance of the statement in verse 9? • What were some of the ways that the religious legalism was attempting to overtake them? (v.

16-23) • How do we see religious legalism distort the Gospel today? • In what ways do things like legalism have the “appearance of wisdom” but are actually “fleshly

indulgence” (v.23)?

• Review verse 10-15 and think of all that Christ has done for us. Why would we choose anything else to fulfill us? Take a moment and confess that – make a commitment to remember and honor Him in your life above all else.
