Fourth Sunday after Epiphany

The human, speck against the peaks or on the plains, also looks trivial during her brief moment in the crowd. The language of faith, however, pictures God seeing humans as creatures of immeasurable

worth. The One who made each of us is mindful, is a rememberer, aware of us even when others lose us in that crowd. -Martin Marty

SILENT PRAYER Gracious God, forgive us and free us from self-sufficiency. Allow us to embrace our neediness as both normal

and necessary as citizens in the Kingdom of God. Engender in us true humility, genuine repentance, bold brokenness, and ruthless dependence so that your Kingdom comes through us to earth as it is in heaven. May we grow to embody that “the way up is the way down” in all dimensions of life. In the name of Jesus who lost his life that we know your love, Amen.

PRELUDE Blessed Jesus, We Are Here J. S. Bach (1685-1750)
