* Those who are able, please stand.
Congregation responds in bold.
CENTERING THOUGHT
Christ Our Bread
God, food of the poor;
give us a taste of the tender bread
from your creation’s table;
bread newly taken
from your heart’s oven,
food that comforts and nourishes us.
A fraternal loaf that makes us human
joined hand in hand,
working and sharing.
A warm loaf that makes us a family;
sacrament of your body,
your wounded people.

GATHERING SONG
Hymn No. 814 In God Alone MON ÂME SE REPOSE
(Worshippers are invited to sing English or French.)
*CALL TO WORSHIP
We come quietly to this place of God.
Our hearts are quieting.
We seek the presence of God.
Our hearts are searching.
We open our lives to God.
Our hearts are opening.
Here we find the love of God.
Our hearts are filling.
We have come to worship God.
Let us worship together.
*HYMN NO. 415 Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy
RESTORATION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, whose covenant with us is never broken; we
confess that we fail to fulfill your will. Though you have
bound yourself to us, we do not bind ourselves to you. In
Jesus Christ you serve us freely, but we refuse your love and
withhold ourselves from others. We do not love you fully or
love one another as you command. In your mercy, forgive
and cleanse us. Lead us once again to your table and unite us
to Christ, who is the bread of life and the vine from which we
grow in grace.
*SILENCE FOR PERSONAL PRAYER AND REFLECTION
*DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
In Jesus Christ we are freed from slavery to sin and death.
We belong to the Lord, who died for us, so that we might live.
Friends, hear and believe the good news of the gospel:
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
*SHARING THE PEACE
The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
(Worshippers may greet one another with words of Christ’s peace.)

always: the light shining in the darkness.
Amen.
