    GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

The VS80 timer, manufactured by AKO, is used in a number of front-loading washing machines and washer/dryers:

ZP: front-loading appliances produced in Italy (Porcia) ZA: front-loading appliances produced in Spain (Alcalà)

    WASHING PROGRAMMES

Important: Certain programmes (cotton 90-60°, synthetic fabrics 50/60°, wool) begin with a drain phase.

Also, the 90°C cotton programme (step n° 3 - see table, page 10), after the drain, passes to the sixth step, which performs the first water fill into the pre-wash compartment (12.5 - 20 seconds). The final water fill is completed in position 8 (wash compartment). Heating is carried out in position 10. In models with fixed temperatures, the operation of the timer may cause confusion to the user, since the timer knob is seen to advance after the beginning of the 60°C cotton programme in order to perform the water fill; the start of the 40° cotton programme is then skipped in order to perform the heating phase. A similar situation occurs in the 60° cotton programme: heating of the water is carried out after the start of the 40°C programme.

In case of a power failure, or if the appliance is switched off, the electronic control board does NOT memorize the current cycle; when the power supply is restored, the control board identifies the position of the timer to resume the cycle. In some cases, this situation may modify the washing cycle (e.g. heating to 40° instead of 90°).

    PUSHBUTTON FUNCTIONS

ON/OFF: switches the appliance ON and OFF.

HALF LOAD: eliminates one rinse in COTTON programmes (to first level). This function has no effect in the RINSE cycle.

EXTRA RINSE: adds one rinse in COTTON cycles (to second level). This function has no effect in the RINSE cycle.

RINSE HOLD: stops the appliance with water in the tub at the end of the final rinse; this function can be selected in the COTTON, SYNTHETICS, DELICATES and WOOL cycles. When the same button is pressed again, the programme is completed by the drain and spin phases.

HEAVY SOILING: (models with hot and cold water fill only): the appliance fills with cold water only in the 60- 90°C COTTON and 50°C SYNTHETICS cycles.

COLD WASH: skips the heating phases in all programmes.

50º: in 90°C COTTON cycles, reduces the temperature to 50°C and adds a 20-minute wash phase; in 60°C COTTON and 60°C SYNTHETICS cycles, reduces the temperature to 50°C.

NO SPIN: eliminates all spins (intermediate and final); adds one rinse in COTTON cycles (to second level) in order to assure rinsing efficiency.

REDUCED SPIN: reduces the final spins as shown in the table below (the intermediate spins are not affected in order to assure the efficiency of the rinses):

    Delicates (EU-UK)

    Wool (EU-UK)

    Cotton Synthetics(UK washing machines only)

Synthetics (EU washing machines and all washer/dryers)

    Normal spin 800 850 1000 1150 650 800 850 Reduced spin 450 650 650 650 450 450 450

SHORT CYCLE: reduces the duration of the wash phases as follows: in 0-60°C COTTON cycles by approximately 30 minutes; in 70-90°C COTTON and SYNTHETICS cycles, by approximately 15 minutes.

DAILY WASH: reduces the duration of the wash phases as follows: in 0-60°C COTTON cycles by approximately 15 minutes; in 70-90°C COTTON and SYNTHETICS cycles, by approximately 10 minutes.
