FAMILIES AND CHILDRENWhen an individual joins the military, the entire family serves. Service members and their families experience transitions together. From PCS moves and deployments to reintegration, separation or retirement; service members, spouses, children and extended family are linked together. The functioning of one affects all. The Service Member to Civilian summit will share voices, build partnerships and shape directions for practice and research pertaining to the entire military family.

COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONSService Member to Civilian Summit will highlight the important role that non-profit and community-based service providers are playing in veteran transition. Nimble and responsive, non-profits are often the first place to look for successful transition programming. Focus areas in this track include: l Provider models

l Program exemplars

CIVILIAN EMPLOYERSHow can civilian employers play a role in assisting veteran reintegration? The focus of this track is the existing opportunity for civilian employers to enhance their own recruiting while supporting the larger mission of veteran transition. Focus areas in this track include: l Veteran hiring

l Reserve mobilization support

HIGHER EDUCATIONService Member to Civilian Summit will emphasize the engagement of end-users to drive the formation of research questions. This calls for academia to function as a hub for building a working consortium to facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders, including interdisciplinary and community connections. The higher education track will illuminate and advance the most compelling issues of transitioning soldiers and their dependents through three broad points of view: l The service member or dependent as student and end-user

l Administrators, educators, and all human service and support providers

l Current research and consortium building for guiding a future research agenda
