Introduction

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is a leading four-wheeler automobilemanufacturer in South Asia. It is largely credited for having brought in anautomobile revolution to India.

It was a joint venture between the Indian government, and Suzuki of Japan.

As of May 10 2007, Govt. of India sold its complete share to Indian financialinstitutions. With this, Govt. of India no longer has stake in Maruti Udyog.

The company annually exports more than 50,000 cars and has an extremelylarge domestic market in India selling over 730,000 cars annually.

Maruti Suzuki offers 13 models, Maruti 800, Omni, Alto, Versa, Ritz, Gypsy, AStar, Wagon R, Zen Estilo, Swift, Swift Dzire, SX4, and Grand Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki has manufacturing plants in Gurgaon & Manesar

Authorized Service Stations

Maruti has 2628 listed Authorized Service Stations and 30 Express Stations on30 highways across India. Service is a major revenue generator of thecompany. Most of the service stations are managed on franchise basis. TheExpress Service Stations help many stranded vehicles on the highways bysending across their repair man to the vehicle.

Maruti Insurance

Launched in 2002 Maruti provides vehicle insurance to its customers with thehelp of the National Insurance Company, Bajaj Allianz, New India Assuranceand Royal Sundram. The Service was set up by the company with theinception of two subsidiaries Maruti Insurance Distribution Service Pvt Ltdand Maruti Insurance Brokers Pvt Limited. This service started as a benefit orvalue addition to customers and was able to ramp up easily. By December

2005 they were able to sell more than 2million insurance policies since itsadoption.

Maruti True services offered by Maruti Udyog to its customers. It is a marketplace for used Maruti Vehicles. One can buy, sell or exchange used Marutivehicles with help of this service in India

Maruti Finance

To promote its bottom line growth, Maruti Suzuki launched Maruti Finance inJanuary 2002. Prior to the start of this service Maruti Suzuki had started two

joint ventures Citicorp Maruti and Maruti Countrywide with Citi Group and GECountrywide respectively to assist its client in securing loan. Maruti Suzukitied up with ABN Amro Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Limited, Kotak Mahindra,Standard Chartered Bank, and Sundram to start this venture including its

strategic partners in car finance. Since March 2003, Maruti has sold over12,000 vehicles through SBI-Maruti Finance. SBI-Maruti Finance is currentlyavailable in 166 cities across India.

N2N FleetManagement

N2N is the short form of End to End Fleet Management and provides leaseand fleet management solution to corporate. Its impressive list of clients whohave signed up of this service include Gas Authority of India Ltd, DuPont,Reckitt Benckiser, Sona Steering, Doordarshan, Singer India, National StockExchange and Transworld. This fleet management service include end-to-endsolutions across the vehicle's life, which includes Leasing, Maintenance,

Convenience services and Remarketing.

Accessories

Many of the auto component companies other than Maruti Suzuki started tooffer components and accessories that were compatible. This caused a seriousthreat and loss of revenue to Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki started a newinitiative under the brand name Maruti Genuine Accessories to offeraccessories like alloy wheels, body cover, carpets, door visors, fog lamps,stereo systems, seat covers and other car care products. These products are

sold through dealer outlets and authorized service stations throughout India.

Maruti Driving School

As part of its corporate social responsibility Maruti Suzuki launched the MarutiDriving School in Delhi. Later the services were extended to other cities ofIndia as well. These schools are modelled on international standards, wherelearners go through classroom and practical sessions. Many internationalpractices like road behaviour and attitudes are also taught in these schools.Before driving actual vehicles participants are trained on simulators.

Export

Maruti Exports Limited is the subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki with its major focus onexports and it does not operate in the domestic Indian market. The firstcommercial consignment of 480 cars were sent to Hungary. By sending aconsignment of 571 cars to the same country Maruti Suzuki crossed thebenchmark of 300,000 cars. Since its inception export was one of the aspectsgovernment was keen to encourage. Every political party expected Maruti

Suzuki to earn foreign currency.
