Serving with a VisionIsaiah 6:8-10

District Youth Fellowship

25-26 December 2014

Vision: To be a successful minister in Christ’ ministry.

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others.

Isaiah 6:8-10 – The voice of God says: Whom shall I, send and who will go for us? And I said , Here I am send me!” ug sya miingon; lakaw ug sultihi kining katawhan: - - - - - tingali unya nga makakita sila uban sa ilang mga mata; makadungog uban sa ilang igdulungog; ug makasabot sila uban sa ilang kasing2x; ug mga kabig ug mamaayu sila.

Matt. 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (the original translation Jesus said, baptizing them in my name), teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Vision: To be a successful minister or worker in Christ’ ministry.

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others.

How to do our mission being a true born again Christian? I should be equipped with all spiritual skill, knowledge and wisdom.

Like soldiers, before going to war, we should be equipped with all necessary trainings and be skilled.

Same manner, as soldiers in Christ, we must be skillful, well trained, full of knowledge & wisdom and most specially filled with Holy Spirit.

Weed need these things in performing our mission to attain and achieve our vision

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others. 7

How can I gain spiritual knowledge and wisdom?

1. Listen to instructions

Instruction is very important for those who desire to live a long and fruitful life and gain wisdom and knowledge.

Proverbs 9:9 – Give instruction to the wise and they will become wiser still; teach the righteous and they will gain in learning.

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others. 8

Listening is a very effective way of gaining knowledge and wisdom and it is a very rare attribute. Most people want to talk and talk and only a miniscule fraction of people want to listen. Proverbs 1.5, 8:33- a person who listens to others is a wise person. Proverbs 12.15; 13.1; 19.20

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others. 9

Everyone needs to listen and learn from others. True born again Christians should listen to their heavenly Father. How to listen from God? We can listen to Him by:

hearing, reading, studying, memorizing andmeditating on the Scriptures.

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others. 10

If you want to grow spiritually listen to the Lord as often as possible through prayer and reading the Scriptures.

As one is instructed, he learns knowledge and is therefore able to instruct others.

11

Proverbs 23.12- "Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to words of knowledge"

Those who instruct others, must first have knowledge. (ex. Teachers must have their lesson Plan before teaching).

Proverbs 8:34 - Blessed is the man that hears or listen to Him.

12

Romans 15.4 – Whatever was written in the former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfast and by encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

2 Timothy 3.15 - from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Mission: Go and preach the words of God for the salvation of others. 13

Teachers studied 4 yrs and must have passed the board exam before they become full pledge teachers.

II Tim. 2:2 - “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

Job 22.22 – Receive instructions from his mouth.

Vision: To be a successful minister in Christ’ ministry.

14

Instruction is something that everyone needs in order to gain knowledge.

One should get as much as possible and no one can do without it.

Proverbs 1.8,6.20 - Every child needs instruction from his or her parents and that is why children are commanded to listen to what their parents teach them.

15

Students need to listen to the instruction of their teachers if they want to learn something.

On the job the new employee needs to listen to the instruction of the one training him.

The same is true in the spiritual realm. Parents should instruct their children in

the ways of the Lord and in His Word. Fathers should be the head of the

house and do most of the teaching.

16

Deuteronomy 4.9; Make the known to your children

Deuteronomy 6.6-7 –Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart.

Deuteronomy 11.18-

Deuteronomy 32.46- take to heart to all the words

17

“Christians who can study the Bible on their own have the special privilege of being taught by God Himself (James 1:5), (1 Corinthians 2.16; 2 Timothy 2.7), through the HOLY SPIRIT (1 John 2.27). Do not waste that great privilege. Sit at the feet of the Savior,

18

to know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice,

judgment, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion

—A wise man will hear and increase

learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel" (Proverbs 1:2-5).

19

2. Study of the Scriptures- Other way to gain knowledge ans

wisdom is through the study of the Scriptures.

In the church, the pastors and Bible teachers are to instruct the congregation and show them how to study the Bible on their own.

They are to make disciples of everyone in the church

20

- Other way to gain knowledge ans wisdom is through the study of the Scriptures.

-The more we study the Bible, the more we learn about Jesus Christ - our everlasting Father, great God and savior, who dwells within living temple - true born-again believers.

21

Fools hate spiritual knowledge and seldom seek it out. Proverbs 1:7 - "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction“ Professing Christians who ignore the greatest storehouse of spiritual knowledge in the universe are the most foolish. That storehouse is the Bible, the Word of God - the Holy Scriptures.

22

3. Hunger and thirst for knowledge of the God

- All Christians should have a deep hunger and thirst for knowledge of the God Psalm 42.1-2 - My soul thirst for God Psalm 143.6 - My soul thirst for You

23

4. Fear of the Lord Proverbs 9.10 - the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

5. Every believer should spend most time to read, hear and study the words of God Deuteronomy 4:9-10 – God said gather my people together and I will make them hear my words that they learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth that they may teach their Children.

How can I gain spiritual knowledge and wisdom?

24

5. Every believer should spend most time to read, hear and study the words of God.

Acts 17.11- they received the word with all eagerness, examining the scriptures daily

How can I gain spiritual knowledge and wisdom?

25

6. Hear God’s WordLuke 11.28 – Bulahan ang naminaw sa

iyang pulong ug nagatuman niini.Prov; 22.17 – inclined your ear and hear the words

7. Experience by doing God’s commands James 1.22 - But be doers of the word,

not hearers only deceiving your own selves.

26

Luke 16:31, “But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.'“

John 6:45, “"It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.’”

27

8. Reading God’s Words

Revelation 1.3 – Blessed is the one who reads aloud of this prophecy, blessed are those who hear and who keep what is written in it for the time is near.

Deut 17.19 – read the book of the law or bible , that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words

28

9. Seek and search Prov 2.1-5 – If you seek, you can find

knowledge of God Deut 8.3 , Matt 4:4 – man does not live by

bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord our God.

John 5.39 – There is eternal life if we search the scriptures. This words testify about Jesus.

29

Wisdom is found in the Bible. If you want wisdom directly from the Creator

of the universe, study the Bible. Study Scripture daily (Acts 17.11) and study

it diligently (2 Timothy 2.15). When you think you have studied the Bible

enough start all over and study it more than before.

Never stop studying Scripture because no one can grasp all the depths of the holy, infallible Word of God in this lifetime.

.

30

10. Keeping God’s Word to equip a believer to gain strength in the faith:

Deuteronomy 6.6 –Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart.

Psalm 37.31, 40.8, 119.11– The law of their Lord is in their hearts

Proverbs 3.1,3 – keeping Gods commandments will prolong life.

31

10. Keeping God’s Word to equip a believer to gain strength in the faith:

Prov 4.1,21-Keep the instruction within your heart

Prov 6.21 - bind them upon your heart. Prov 22.18 – Keep them within you- ready

on your lips Ezekiel 3.10 – receiving God’s word in our

heart

32

11. Meditate the words of God day and night Psalm 1.2 – meditate the words of God day and

night Psalm 19.14 – Let the word of my mouth nd

meditation of my heart be acceptable I your sight Psalm 63.6- Meditate on God day and night Psalm 77.12 Meditate His mighty power Psalm 104.34 May my meditation be pleasing to

Him Psalm 119.15, 23 - Meditate on your percepts or

lagda or kabalaoranan. Psalm 143.5 – Meditate on his deeds

33

"Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days" (Proverbs 19.20).

"Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge" (Proverbs 22.17).

Why Listening is very important??????

34

When a Christian stops listening to the Lord, his or her life goes downhill.

The traits of a person who is out of true fellowship with the Lord becomes evident with chronic or continual manifestations of sinful behavior such as bringing division into Christian ministries or unfairly condemning others.

Scripture tells us that even prayers from such a person are an abomination to God (Proverbs 28.9).

.

35

He or she will stray from the Word--stop obeying it (Proverbs 19.27) and slip into a backslidden condition and will eventually walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the path of sinners and sit in the seat of scoffers (Psalm 1.1).

This person's life will no longer be like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in due season, whose leaf does not wither. Instead of prospering, eventually this type of person will come to ruin (Psalm 1.3).

.

36

If you need Wisdom, you must listen to instructions from the words of God!!! Remember,

Wisdom is a precious treasure that everyone should seek after with greater zeal, more than worldly riches or anything else (Proverbs 2.1-5).

Wisdom is more valuable than gold, silver, precious jewels or anything one can lust after (Proverbs 3.13-14; 8.10-11; 16.16).

Everyone who seeks after wisdom on a daily basis loves his own soul (Proverbs 19.8).

.

37

Why we need to store the words of God?

Mark 13:31, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

We need power before going to the field of ministry

Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

38

John 15:26-27, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

John 16:13, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

39

Conclusion: Josh 1:8-9 – Meditate the word of God day

and night, careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. Then you shall be prosperous and successful.

2 Timothy 2.15 – Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him , a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.

Therefore, serve GOD with your Vision
