Informal System

In spite of the disadvantages of the informal mode of transport 60% of the mode share is still using that system.

Hence, it is of great importance to make this a largely used system which will be advantageous for the people.

Tata Magic – A Magic Vehicle

At present there are no designated stops, depots & parking spaces for Tata Magics. No designated maintenance, washing and repair facilities.RTO doesn’t prescribes schedules.Route Managers/ private agent (appointed by the operators) manage dispatch of vehicles at specific points. After all these drawbacks, Tata Magic still shares 38% of the total PT Share.

Present Condition of Tata Magic

Improvement of Magic- A Case Study

There have been no successful attempts anywhere in India to formalize informal transport.

The process usually followed is only of upgradation, with the older system remaining in its place and an additional system comes up, adding to the congestion.

In 2004-05, 450 old tempos (Bhaat-Suar) replaced by new 450 Magic’s with the effort of the Govt.

But, those 450 old tempos are still plying on roads & at present 900 vehicles which are plying in their own way are now increasing congestion & pollution.

After all these efforts there is NO IMPROVEMENT in quality of Public Transport.

This replaced Modal is not very effective for city at a Glance.

It is an Unsuccessful Attempt
