PRESIDENT'S REPORT
ROTARIAN GARRY GUNNELL1999-2000
As President of the Rotary Club of Bendigo it is my pleasureto present to the club the seventy fifth Annual General Report.
As a club we are soon to celebrate seventy-five years ofhistory and service to our local and international communities,It is in fact the contributions of all members that has built thevery fabric of our club record to where it is today,
I wish to place on record my sincere appreciation for theexcellent support and co-operation that I have received fromBoard Members, the various Chairpersons and club members,
At the commencement of the year J issued two challenges to the club, One was to turn around ourmembership loss, The other was for members to rally behind our group of club membersaffectionately known as Dad's Army, helping them with the set-up and dismantling of the Easter Sales andExhibition of the Arts,
Our membership has seen a net gain of four members which is a most pleasing result but we must continueto recognise that seeking out potential members is an ongoing responsibility for all members, The Easter Salesand Exhibition of the Arts is a major source of funds for this clubs community activities and I thank themembers for accepting the challenge, The show was a huge success contributing approximately $19,000,00to our project account and a chance for some great fellowship amongst members, The combining, at the onelocation, of the Ceramics/Pottery and Art Show the previous year was further developed with the introductionof a sculpture section, Coupled with an outstanding Preview Night I am sure the basis has now been set forthis project to enjoy continued growth and success over the coming years,
The Annual Dinner Auction, raising in excess of $24,000,00, is growing in statue and fast becoming thepremier fund raising event in Bendigo, Sincere thanks to Greg Bickley, his committee of club members, theauctioneers and special guest, Andrew Gaze for an outstanding effort.
The Presidents of the Six Rotary Clubs of Bendigo have continued to meet on a regular basis cementinga tremendous sprit and co-operation amongst the local clubs, Joint activities have been conducted with thesecond year of catering at the Bendigo Swap Meet another success, Spring-Time walkabout and catering forDistrict 9790 conference all contributing to bring the clubs closer together. The completion of the Home forHomeless project is a permanent reminder of what can be achieved by combining our resources and takingon a challenge which can span a number of Rotary years. The transition of our own Youth Camp to a Districtproject, renamed Camp Getaway, is another challenge lead by the combined Rotary Clubs of Bendigo.
The year has been both busy and rewarding with a number of challenges and I would like to record mythanks to Club Secretary, Gail Robertson and Andrew Hampton for taking on the role of Club Treasurer earlyinto the year. Also to Geoff Brown for ensuring Frank Lean's excellent efforts with the Fossicker were continuedduring his period of ill health,
During the year we were saddened to record the deaths of Reg Brock and Ron Slattery, both PastPresidents and Paul Harris Fellows.
Throughout the year we have maintained a balance in projects to support the local Bendigo communityand those which assist in an international sense. Rather than enumerate all the club activities, which areaddressed in the following Directors Reports I would just like to mention some, which I believe, demonstratethe diversity and strength of our club's service,
----- ----------
• Provision of major funding to The Bendigo Health Care Group and the soon to be developedRadiotherapy service. While Government funding has been approved for building the facility and serviceprovision, there is an urgent need for other things that will ensure the comfort of patients facing a lifethreatening illness.
• A major sponsor of the Youth Expo to be held in Bendigo late July.• Undertaking a joint Matching Grant project with Melbourne South Rotary Club to improve
the conditions for students at a remote village school in Samoa.• Major support to the re-development of the District project, Camp Getaway.
Financially, the club has again raised a significant amount of money to allow us to support many projectsin the community and I direct your attention to the Treasurer's report where the disbursement of the Club'sfunds is detailed. With the advent of the Goods and Service Tax we have made a change to our reportingperiod, now 1st July to 30th June, resulting in a thirteen-month period this year.
To the members of the Rotary Club of Bendigo I thank you for having the confidence in me and allowingme to be your President for 1999-2000. It is indeed an honour and privilege to have served as President ofthis great club; your support has been greatly appreciated.
To Incoming President Larrie Winzar, on behalf of the Club, [ congratulate you on your election asPresident for the 2000-2001 year. I wish you every success for the forthcoming year and commit the clubs totalsupport for your year.
Garry GunnellPresident 1999-2000
President Garry and Counsellor Larrie with exchange student Sophie Herman!.
HORIZONS REPORT Chairperson: COLIN NANKERVISThe Committee is now established as an invaluable source of knowledge to the incoming President and
helps prepare them for their year in office.Membership of the committee comprises the two immediate Past Presidents, the President of the day and
the two next President-Elects.The Committee takes a look at issues from a high level with a view on long term planning. It is obvious
that this Committee can make a substantial contribution to the success of the Club in future years.
CLUB SERVICE REPORT Director: NEIL BURTONCongratulations and sincere thanks to all the committee chairman for doing such a great job throughout
the year.Club Service was the first avenue of Rotary service and logically so. Unless the club is strong with
membership, offer interesting meetings, keeps members well informed, enjoys good fellowship, undertakesrelevant projects and encourages active service then the rest of the Avenues of Service will have no basis.
AlTENDANCE - (Chairperson: Gerard Kelly)The ongoing success of any Rotary Club depends on attendance to ensure that the communication lines
are open and everyone is kept in touch with the activities of the club. With the high work pressures in today'sworld it is difficult for all members to maintain a high attendance percentage level all of the time. One area wecould all make better use of is the facility of making up at another club.
It is pleasing to report that again we have a good number of members achieving 100% and others overthe 90% mark and I offer my congratulations to them on an excellent result. The Club average attendance forthe year was 75%.
BULLETIN - (Editor: Frank Lean)The club's weekly newsletter, The Fossicker, pursued a policy of preference for articles relating to Rotary
issues this year. The president's Report was published weekly, the District Governor's Message monthly andCommittee Reports as they came to hand. Articles on Australian and overseas Rotary programs were largelygarnered from various Internet sites. Members were thus provided with information on Rotary matters at local, district, national and international levels leavened with occasional wry humour.
The Fossicker was again published in both print and electronic format with members receiving hard copiesvia Australia Post and the electronic version available to the world on the club's web site. Especial thanks toMax Houston and Vicky Cole of Richard Cambridge Printers and Em Faulkner of Bendigo Senior SecondaryCollege for their expertise and unfailing co-operation throughout the year.
DIRECTORY - (Chairperson: Hal Moors)A Club Directory, for the size of our club, is a necessity as it assists members to quickly contact fellow
members. As it is relied on so heavily, it is important that all members keep amended information flowing to this
committee.
FELLOWSHIP - (Chairperson: Kevin Reilly)A sense of enjoyment and putting some fun into Rotary was our theme for the year and from the results of
the various activities, that aim has been achieved. The following were some of the highlights of the year andthe opportunity for all to enjoy time together in a relaxed atmosphere.
• The re-commencement of joint activities with our sister club Melbourne South provided some great fun andfellowship. The Sunday lunch at Pratty's Patch with over 80 in attendance and the Club Dinner at theCanberra Conference with over 20 in attendance provided some memorable moments.
• The Penna Breakfast is a morning not to be missed and again we were presented with a fantastic menu insurroundings that makes for an elongated breakfast amongst many friends.
• The festive club Christmas party at the Lake View Motel was an excellent social night and a chance for allmembers to celebrate the reason for Christmas. The talented Pianist/Singer Maggie Jackson entertainedmembers. A presentation prepared by Marlene Reilly, performed by Ted Rankins with contributions frommembers of the audience was a reflection on the past century, indeed a highlight of the night.
• In conjunction with the Foundation committee we were treated to another wonderful night at JackPaynting's Nursery.
• A very successful wine and cheese night should see this become an annual event.
MEMBERSHIP - (Chairperson: Keith Oberin)The club has responded well to the challenge of turning our membership figures around and having
commenced the year with 92 members we now have a membership of 96, a net gain of four members overthe year.
For the year some 14 new members were inducted into the club and all except two have retainedmembership. Another pleasing aspect is to see three former members in a position to re-join club activities.
The year was again significant in that the majority of membership resignations were due to job relocationsand highlights that we must be forever vigilant in looking to propose a new member to join what is a greatservice club.
PROGRAM - (Chairperson: Bryan McMahon)Bryan and his committee have provided an excellent variety of Guest Speakers over the year mixed with
some fascinating addresses from our own Club members.Remember the compelling story from Holocaust survivor, Sarah Saaroni. We heard a very interesting
address from Brigadier Douglas Bell on the Army Reserve and Steve de Laveaga on the Lead On Programme.Peter Gaudion, CEO of Sandhurst Farms opened our eyes to just what is produced locally. Dennis Higginsreflected on his experiences as a GSE team member to New Mexico in 1984. Claire Ormerod was outstandingin presenting her experiences at this years RYLA Camp. Bruce Larkin took us for a tour of the AustralianGallery of Sport and the Melbourne Cricket Ground without leaving our seats and we had Dr. John Fergusontalking about the new radiology therapy unit soon to be build in Bendigo.
The committee has done it well and congratulations to all concerned. Remember if you hear about a goodGuest Speaker please pass on the information to your Program committee.
ON TO CONFERENCE- (Chairperson: Kevin Reilly)The District Conference was held this year in Canberra. Eight members and partners plus Exchange
Student, Sophie Hermant represented our Club at what was a superb District Conference. Many highlightsmade for a most enjoyable three days but the club dinner combined with Melbourne South and the addressfrom Jose Ramos-Horta on East Timor were outstanding.Keep your diary free for next year when the conference will be held in Sydney.HISTORY COMMITIEE - (Chairperson: Bruce Williamson)
These dedicated groups of workers continually go through our club records archiving what is appropriate. The biggest problem is getting the information and we should all have a look at what may be in our possession- "Don't throw it out - give it to the History Committee.
Considerable time and effort has this year been put into preparing information in readiness for our 75thanniversary celebrations.
SERGEANT - (Chairperson: Geoff Mcleod)The rotational concept of Sergeants doing 2 to 3 weeks at a time worked successfully and kept members
entertained at each weekly meeting. It should not be forgotten that the Sergeant performs the role of Master for Ceremonies and to this end all
meetings ran to the very tight schedule that is imposed on a lunch time meeting. Congratulations to allSergeants for a job well done and setting the scene for a successful meeting.
WE CARE - (Chairperson: John Cartwright)An important role for this committee is to ensure that we hold out the hand of compassion and friendship
to our members and the Committee has done this very successfully. Members in times of ill health, personaland family problems all benefit from a We Care Committee who go about their operation quietly behind thescenes. It can be daunting to a new member in a club of our size and again the We Care Committee work toensure they quickly settle into club activities.
COMMUNITY SERVICE REPORT Director: BARRY PENNAWhen President Garry appointed me to the directorship of community service, I had great pleasure in
accepting the challenge and opportunity to be involved with the "Big One'. Community service is big infellowship and involvement. It was no exception this year.
My thanks to Jane McLean for accepting the role of Chairperson for the Ceramics/Pottery section of ourEaster activities when Garry Spence found himself in the middle of moving and building a new home.
EASTER SALES AND EXHIBITION OF THE ARTS·(Chairs: Don Dennis & Jane McLean)
The combining of these shows under the one roof is now well established and the results speak forthemselves. Sales were up; entry fees maintained a solid performance and the preview night once again a greatsuccess and should remain as part of the Easter activities. A surplus of almost $19,000.00 an excellent result. The assistance given by members to the committees prior to and during the Easter period was greatlyappreciated.
Extremely cold winds on the Friday and Saturday prompted members to look at the possibility of fittingtemporary boarding along the western side between the pottery display and the paintings for next year. Otherplans are also under consideration to take this event to a new level in the years to come.
ROTARY CAMP GETAWAYThe transfer of this clubs long standing, over 50 years, Youth Camp project has now been completed with
the continued operation controlled by a District Committee, Chaired by Paul Kirkpatrick of Bendigo SandhurstRotary Club. Club members remain on the district committee and with a Business Plan now being developedwe should see the start of re-building in the very near future. The potential for a state of the art camping facilityfor all groups is very real.
CAROLS BY TORCHLIGHT - (Chairperson: Noel Kilby)The Carols committee this year decided on quite a few changes, and with Lois Angus at the helm, the
program was a tremendous success brought about by a group of people willing to except change and workhard. Once again the only concern was the weather, any ideas on how to organise a hot barmy night wouldbe a bonus.
Committee members were to the fore on the Sunday morning and really worked hard and well, nothingwas a bother and all pulled together to get the stage erected and the towers built. The same occurred whendismantling. Although the weather was not the best the club was still able to make a small profit which is agreat effort as the Carols is the one true community project of this club that is not looked on as only a fundraising activity.
Lois has left us with a list of recommendations, including moving back to the park and using candles, fornext years show, which I am sure, will be given full consideration by the new committee.
ENVIRONMENT - (Chairperson: Jim Mahoney)Since its inception in 1996 our anti-litter pollution awareness project "Streets to the Creek" has been
introduced to 21 primary schools in Bendigo district. Approximately 1500 children have participated with ananti-litter educational kit and watched a video presentation with instruction from environment officers from theColiban Water and The Greater City of Bendigo.
All students have been taken on an excursion involving over 49 separate bus trips, to demonstrate how thestormwater drainage system operate and the effects that litter and other pollutants have on our waterways. Todate, this Rotary Year 4 schools have participated, involving approximately 270 students. Another 3 schoolsare likely to be involved in the near future
We are pleased to welcome 'Waterwatch-North Central', as an additional financial sponsor this year.
DINNER AUCTION - (Chairperson Greg Bickley)The Dinner Auction this year was a resounding success. The concept of six different auctioneers for the
night was very well received and Andrew Gaze a tremendous boost to the nights activities. We must thankKeith Oberin for organising his attendance, without Andrew Gaze on that night; it is clear that our proceedswould have been down at least a few thousand dollars.
The silent auction didn't work as well as last year and we need to have a closer look at the type of items
grouped together for this activity. The support from Bendigo business was again a significant factor in thenight's success with approximately $24,000.00 raised for the night. Planning has already commenced toensure next year is even better.
Community Service also continued the distribution of 'Bowel Cancer Kits', for the month of May, inconjunction with Bendigo Sandhurst Rotary Club. Malcolm Andrew and Neil Burton together with JohnLangley have distributed over 400 kits.
Joint club projects with Springtime Walkabout and catering at the Annual Swap Meet proved to be verysuccessful and will continue next year. Plans are underway to involve .school groups in a community projectby helping out at this year Swap Meet.
In closing the 'Big One' has raised approximately $44,000.00 for the Club and I would like to thank all theChairpersons involved and congratulate all their committee's an a job well done. On a personal note I wouldlike to congratulate President Garry on a wonderful year, and thank you for your leadership.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE REPORT Director: CHARLIE MARTINConsiderable progress has been made towards establishing a Foundation Matching Grant project with our
sister club Melbourne South. With the help of a Carl Millar Discovery Grant myself, John Gallagher, GarryGunnell and together with his father traveled to Samoa to investigate the site first hand. We have a chance tomake a difference to the conditions currently experienced by students at a remote village school in Samoa andwill pursue this target during the next Rotary year. Helping to raise funds for this project we organised twoprojects during the year: one being catering, combined with Bendigo South, for the Greening of Australiaproject at Ravenswood and the other was a successful wine and cheese night for club members. Over$3,000.00 raised. The Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and the Rotary OverseasMedical Aid for Children (ROMAC) committee's under Brian Doherty and John Gallagher are to becongratulated for their efforts.
HAWCS - (Chairperson: John Gallagher)This year has seen an exciting development in the World Community Service program. The Samoa FAIM
trip earlier this year has further strengthened ties with our sister club of Apia and completed the ground worknecessary for FAIM volunteer projects well into the future.
Whilst the concept of composting toilets in it's self is not exciting to most people, the improvement in villagelife may well be enormous. From this simple concept I believe that our club can make a real difference.
Plans are well in hand for this committee to hold a dinner at the Belmont Hotel. This could become aregular fellowship event and the first will feature Internationally renowned Chiefs, Neil Burdon and JohnGallagher who will provide an exquisite three-course meal. (Details to be advised).
ROMAC - (Chairperson: Brian Doherty)The proposed ROMAC Corporate Golf Challenge was, due to a number of circumstances, including the
difficulty in arranging the attendance of Mr. Max Walker (Patron of ROMAC) and other celebrities, deferreduntil the 8th October this year.
The success of this proposed golf day will only be achieved with the willing participation of not onlycommittee members but also all members of our club. If this event were run to its full potential, then ROMACwould benefit with considerable funds raised so please support when asked.
VOCATIONAL SERVICE REPORT Director: HUGH WHEELERThis area of service experienced difficulties fulfilling its function due to external factors, which exerted
extreme pressure on its chairpersons .• Vocational Awards/Apprenticeship & Trainee Awards.
It was resolved after investigation that this program would not proceed this year as it was already extensivelycovered in the community by other service organizations.
• Annual Fellowship/fund raising meetingIn conjunction with the Foundation Committee plan and conduct a meeting at Paynting's in March
Other programs under consideration but which were not followed through included a joint film night withthe Fellowship Committee to raise funds for a FAIM project and a Club visit to a local industry.
YOUTH SERVICE REPORT Director: ROS BRADBURYUnder the Chairmanship of David Brown the Youth Activities Committee has undertaken a variety of Youth
projects. The concept of allocating different activities to different committee members work extremely well andI congratulate you all on the fine results.
RYPEN - Rotary Youth Program of EnrichmentRYPEN is a weekend seminar for year 10 and 11 students which aims to communicate to young people a
series of ideas, issues and social experiences that will assist them in forming their own values and standards. The cost of this weekend at Lancefield is $110.00. It is aimed at students who are not necessarily leaders butshow potential to develop leadership skills and benefits from this structured learning experience.
Elizabeth Nihill attended RYPEN in October 1999.
ADVENTURES IN CITIZENSHIPThe Adventure in Citizenship program aims to improve community awareness to the responsibilities and
privileges of Australian citizenship, by providing an opportunity for selected Year 11 students from all overAustralia to gather in Canberra to gain at first hand an understanding of how our country is governed at thenational level. In doing so, it seeks to:• Introduce the delegates to our National institutions at first hand.• Assist the delegates to become more aware of their responsibilities and privileges as citizens of Australia.• Stimulate consideration of Australia as a whole, including its political, judicial, administrative and economic
systems.• Expose each of the delegates to the views and attitudes of their peers from other States and Territories of
Australia.• Provide the opportunity to discuss at a national level, contemporary issues likely to affect their future.• Engender an awareness of the role of Canberra as the National capital; and• Encourage delegates to share within their schools and communities their experiences gained during the
program. We sponsored Stephanie Rosier from Bendigo Senior Secondary College to attend the Adventures in Citizenprogram in Canberra in June 2000.
MUNA - Model United Nations AssemblyMUNA is about building bridges of goodwill for world peace and understanding in the minds of our young
people. [t was first introduced to Rotary in Australia by the Rev. Christopher Budden, from the Rotary Club ofLake Cargelligo, NSW in May 1980. It is a concept, which originated in North America from the desire ofyoung people to be able to express their views on resolutions being debated in the United Nations Assembly.
The aims of MUNA are to simulate the workings of the UN by having teams of two year 11 studentsrepresenting member UN countries, engaging in debate on matters of world politics and social concern and todevelop in students an awareness of the UN and it's workings. Other aims include providing students with theopportunity to develop their public speaking and debating skills, through informed comment on internationalissues and to foster friendship with students from other schools within our District. The UN recognises this veryworthwhile Youth Project, which is now an ongoing part of the World Youth Activity Programme for RotaryInternational.
Owen Omerod and Tom Baurner, both from Bendigo Senior Secondary College, were selected toparticipate in the district MUNA program held in May 2000.
NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUMIn January 2000 the Rotary Club of Bendigo sponsored Lesley Syetho to attend the National Youth
Science Forum in Canberra. Lesley later spoke at a club meeting and it was apparent that she had gainedmuch from the experience. The club has recently nominated another student for consideration at the districtlevel for the National Youth Science Forum to be held next January. At the NYSF, which lasts two weeks. Students met scientists in the discipline of science they wish to pursue,
work in laboratories with these people and learn directly what a career in science would be like.
RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership AwardRYLA is one of several Rotary Youth programs and was first developed in Australia. In our District each
Rotary Club is invited to select young people to receive Rotary Youth Leadership awards. Claire Omerodattended RYLA in December 1999.
YOUTH EXCHANGEIn-coming student, Sophie Hermant from France has been hosted by the Rotary Club of Bendigo from
June 1999 to June 2000. We were delighted to host a French student for the first time and, more particularly,Sophie, whose commitment to the success of her year in Australia has meant that all who have been involvedhave benefited from this cultural exchange.
Out-going: We welcomed Hannah Brown home from Denmark in January 2000 as we farewelled NarelleBuchan on her way to Sweden.
Throughout the Rotary year the Rotary Clubs of Bendigo, Bendigo Sandhurst and Bendigo South workedclosely together on several of the above Youth Activities. A large number of young people from Bendigo regionhave participated in activities as diverse as an interview through to a year living in another country. Througha coordinated approach and by sharing resources, Rotary has reached a significant number of young peoplein our community enhancing their opportunities both now and in the future.
FOUNDATION SERVICE REPORT Director: HUGH WHEELERChairperson: DES SAMPSON
The effective organizational skills and commitment of the Chairperson of this committee ensuredthat the contributions of its members achieved the following outcomes.
• Rotary Foundation MonthAt the meeting held on November 30 former District GSE Team Member Dennis Higgins, who traveled toNew Mexico USA with the GSE team in 1984 and now holds the position of Director, Sandhurst DiocesanCatholic Education Office, provided club members with an informative, entertaining and inspiring address. His presentation highlighted what a significant Foundation program GSE is for participants in particular &Rotary in general.
• Annual fellowship/fund raising evening meeting. This was conducted at Paynting's Nursery on the eveningof March 7th at which the 81 participants enjoyed a great night of fellowship in a relaxed and picturesquesetting.
• District 9800 Foundation SeminarThis seminar was scheduled for Sunday 8 August and was to be held at the All Seasons Motel, Bendigo.Despite a solid response and commitment from our Club the seminar had to be cancelled due to a lack ofsupport.
• Visiting GSE TeamThe combined Rotary Clubs of Bendigo hosted a GSE team from District 6800, North Mississippi andShelby County USA for a 5 day stopover in Bendigo. Our Club guest from this team was Courtney Bressackwho was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Germantown, Tennessee and who was home hosted by theSampsons. Courtney was a registered nurse from Memphis who held the position of Clinical EducationCo-ordinator with one of the countries private Home Health Care companies. Courtney spent some timewith the Bendigo Health Care group at the Anne Caudle and Lucan Street Campuses. Team membersaddressed representatives of local Rotary Clubs at a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Bendigo Southafter a comprehensive 5 day tour of Bendigo and surrounds the GSE team traveled to the District 9800Conference in Canberra. The District 9800 GSE team lead by Rotarian Andrew Brown form the RC ofKyneton left for a reciprocal visit to District 6800 in April.
• Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship 2001The Club in May advertised for applicants to this program in which men and women spend an academicyear abroad, studying at post graduate level, learning about other countries, and serving as ambassadors ofgoodwill for Rotary and their countries. One application was received and forwarded to the District SelectionCommittee for consideration. Final District interviews and notification of results is scheduled for mid June.
PROBUS CLUBS IN BENDIGO - A HISTORYProbus Clubs are for retired or semi-retired professional or business men and women or who have had
positions of some responsibility in their working lives and who look for fellowship accompanied by mentalstimulation and social activity.
Commencing in England in 1965, the first club in Australia was formed in Sydney in 1976 and the first inBendigo in March 1985. This followed from the District Assembly of 1984 when a number from BendigoRotary Clubs became enthused. The initiative was taken by the Rotary Club of Bendigo South under thePresidency of Bill Hoare and a committee was formed. The late Reg Brock and PDG Ray Downey were ourrepresentatives. Procedure for forming a Probus Club was discuss~d and a planning committee with Ken Briggsas chairman was formed.
Names of prospective members were collated from various sources and these men were invited to aninformation/formation meeting in March 1985. Seventy-five men attended. The idea of Probus was acceptedwith enthusiasm so the Probus Club of Bendigo was formed with PDG Ray Downey as President and RegBrock as Bulletin Editor.
The growth of Probus since that time has been rapid and sustained; there now being 10 clubs with over1100 members in the Bendigo area.
It should be pointed out that Probus is an outreach of Rotary Community Service and no Probus club canbe formed without the sponsorship of a Rotary club or clubs. Once formed the Probus club is autonomous(within the Probus constitution) with the sponsoring Rotary club being available for assistance, if required.
The sponsorship of a Probus club is properly the most cost effective community service activity that aRotary club can undertake. About $500.00 in setting up costs virtually ensures ongoing pleasure and activityfor 100 people.
Following the formation of the Probus Club of Bendigo the next three clubs, Sandhurst, Bendigo Ladiesand Eaglehawk were single gender clubs but the subsequent six have both men and women members and thiswill almost certainly be the format in the future. Under President Brian Kinross our club sponsored the ProbusClub of White Hills which continues as a dynamic Club.
