XLQ liquid heat treating process isn't some new

radical process that promises crazy weight saving with

standard tubes. Basically all heat treating processes

are the same, the product is put into an oven and

heated up which makes the frame stronger. Most of

the heat treatment ovens are heated with air which

is ne for most frames but with light weight frames it

can lead to all sorts of problems. The air that heatsthe oven will heat certain parts of it more than others

which will lead to some areas of the frames being over

heated and for too long leading to brittle welds or not

heated enough and leading to uneven tube strengths.

The heat treating we use heats the oven with a liquid

that is at a constant controlled temperature but is

also constantly circulating to avoid any temperaturechanges, this leads to a product that is perfectly and

evenly heat treated.

Helix tubing has been used for many years in other industries and is not a new revelation in steel

making. The only way to make 4130 lighter is to use thinner wall tubing or a magic process which has

not yet been created. Making these walls thinner to save those much needed grams leads to a whole

host of problems such as, weak and brittle welds, cracking of tubes and easily dented tubing.

Our helix tubing allows a thinner walled tube to be used not sacricing any of the tubes strength but

actually increasing the tubes strength.

The advantage of this tubing is, say you wanted the down tube on your frame as 34.9 in diameter and

3mm wall thickness the Severed Alliance Helix tube allows you to use a 2.7mm thickness but with the

other 0.3mm across the members of the inside of the tube saving weight but actually increasing the tube

strength.

In a few short words its 30% stronger and 20% lighter.
