    Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, New DelhiActivity Report 2013-14A dedicated platform for integrated developmentof voluntary organizationsRegd No: 22540/4/ dt 22.12.2003Service to the mankind is not a new concept for our country and thousands & thousands of NGOs/ Voluntary Organizations are work-ing relentlessly in every part, to eradicate the disparity in the soci-ety and to uplift the downtrodden bretheren who are suffering from hunger, ill health, poverty, etc.Our Swayamsevaks and Matru Sanghatans are running more than 1,33,000 projects and programs. In order bring the voluntary orga-nizations run by our likeminded organizations and also others in the field, under one umbrella, Rashtriya Sewa Bharati was formed in 2003, to streamline the sewa activities in our country with the co-ordinated efforts of all.

    Rashtriya Sewa Bharati is mainly focusing on Jagran, Sahyog, Pra-shikshan and Adhyayan and affiliating the VOs with it. At present 439 VOs are affiliated, covering all the Prants. It is run by the trust of 15 trustees and a managing committee assisted by the Samyojaks at Kshetra levels and Prant Pratinidhi Samsthas such as Sewa Bharati, Jankalyan Samiti,Hindu Seva Pratishtan, Dr.Hedgewar Janma Shatab-di Samiti etc.The activities conducted by Rashtriya Sewa Bharati for 2013-14 is as under:

    Pari Samvad (Interface):1. In order to know the ground reality of the sewa activities in the Prants and also expand our base,

    we are conducting interface with our Prant Pratinidhi Sansthas at their respective places, which has given us a direction of methodology to adopt for expansion of our activities.

    The interfaces were conducted this year in the Prants, Kashi, Goraksh, Avadh, Kanpur, Madhya Bharat, Uttar Tamilnadu and Odisha.

    Prashikshan (Training): 2. Prashikshan is our main thrust through which the capacity and knowledge of our Voluntary Organizations can be enhanced. The basic training courses for 2 days on the subjects such as Accounts, Finance, Sourcing of finance, Proposal Writing, HRD, Office Management, Publicity & public relation, are being imparted to office bearers of the Voluntary organizations, through PowerPoint Presentations at state level in their respective places.

    This year we have conducted 7 such courses in the Prants of Haryana, Himachal, Meerut, Delhi and Uttarakhand where 430 office bearers and main functionaries participated actively for 2days each.

    Sewa Sangam:3. The affiliated and non affiliated organizations are participating in the State level Sewa Sangams where they

    exchange their views and report about their activities. Also exhibition is also held depicting their projects. This has helped us in getting new organizations into our fold.This year Sewa Sangams were conducted at,

    (i) Bhopal,Madhya Bharat on 19.04.2013 in which 78 organisations were represented by 265 delegates. (ii) Muzaffarpur,Uttar Bihar on 5.5.2013 in which 56 organisations were represented by 237 delegates. (iii) Gandhinagar,Gujarat on 4,5 January 2014 in which 200 organisations participated. (iv) Patna,Dakshin Bihar on 1,2 Feb 2014 in which 168 organisations were represented by 325 delegates.

    Arogya Chetna Shibir:4. More than 5000 Arogya Rakshaks are working in North East region, advising about health care and also giving m e d i c i n e s , covering 5000 villages, where proper medical facilities are not there in these remote areas. A conference of

  • 5Rashtriya Sewa Bharatisuch young and energetic Arogya Rakshaks was conducted on 9,10th November 2013 at Guwahati by Sewa Bharati,Purbanchal, where 2000 Arogya Rakshaks participated. The conference was guided by Ma.Bhaiyaji Joshi and Ma.Suhasrao Heremath.

    (vi) ExpansionEach committee meets periodically and submits its report & recommendations to the Managing Committee of the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati.

    Adhyayan:6. In order to bring our younger generation of North East region into the national mainstream, our Matru Sanghatans started the hostels in many parts of our country for students from that region by accommodating free hostel and educational facilities.To evaluate the students who have left the hostels after their studies with a cutoff date of March 2005, a study is being conducted by more than 200 Karyakartas visiting their native places and interacting with their parents, village heads and also with these students who have settled in their villages or metros and other places under employment. This will give us an insight as to our success in this field and to take corrected measures if any. The report is awaited.

    Mahila Chintan Baithak:7. In order to give a thrust to the Mahila activities we have been conducting their Chitan Baithaks represented by Prant Mahila Pratinidhis.

    Such Baithaks were conducted at Solapur on 23,24th September 2013 where 13 Prants were represented by 33 Pratinidhis, also at Bhopal on 23,24th January 2014 to review the work.It was decided to publish a book on Kishori Vikas, which depicts all the aspects of problem faced by the Kishoris nowadays and probable solutions and guidance.Exhibition: 8. While the exhibitions depicting the highlights of the projects run by the organization at state level Sewa Sangams, a special exhibition was conducted from 20th to 23rd January 2014 at Nagpur with 51 flex banners highlighting the activities

    Prantwise as well as project wise.

    Website:9. Our website was launched in October 2012. At present 94 websites of our affiliated Organisations are linked and 38 CDs of the projects are uploaded. Twitter,Facebook,Youtube,,LinkedIn,Blogspot are linked to the website, through which public can access with ease. Lot of viewers are contacting us and express interest in serving the society.

    Publications: 10. Our publications mainly highlight the activities of our affiliated organizations and good Voluntary organizations of our country, apart from news bulletin, and all publications are made in Hindi & English.(i) Sewa Disha: Is being published every 5 years giving the statistical data of our projects and programs. The last one is published in 2009 and the 2014 issue is being made ready.(ii) Sewa Sadhna: Annual issue with different themes every year such as Rural development,Self reliance,Environment, Activities of good organisations of our country. 2014 issue

    with the theme of Prabhat Gram will be published soon.(iii) Sewa Kunj: Annual - highlighting the success stories of our affiliated organizations. 2014 issue with 40 such stories will be published soon.(iv) Sewa Sagar: Quarterly news bulletin with news of activities of our affiliated organizations. First issue has

  • 7Rashtriya Sewa Bharaticome out on Vijayadashami day in October 2013 followed by one on Makara Sankaranti day in January 2014.The same is uploaded in website also.

    Other Publications: Jointly with the VOs which specialise in a particular Sewa activity. We are conducting workshop of 2-3 days in a year. Basing on the experience and outcome of the discussion, we are publishing handbook on such activity, which works as a guide to our organizations which are conducting such activities as well as to the organizations which would like to start the same. Thus, handbook on Balkalyan and Self Help Groups are already published. One on training is being made ready.
